The slammed door shook the girl as Yan Xiruo collapsed onto the ground.

She buried her pale cheeks in her hands, and between her fingers rolled wistful tears.

The bliss during the wedding just a day before set off the immeasurable misery she was feeling!

It was like a made-up facade that had fallen to pieces.

The scene of him proposing in a neat white suit was still so clear in her mind. He was holding flowers and a diamond ring, and his eyes were gentle and affectionate. He must have cared about her. At least, that’s what she thought.

After all, reality speaks for itself.

She took a deep breath and wiped the tears off. There was no time to be broken; she had to find ways to return the money that her family owed.

She called her best friend Xia Wanqing.

“Wanqing, you won’t have to take a leave for me; I’ll be back in school.” The plan to go on a two-week-long honeymoon with Lu Jingchen was no longer necessary.

“Back in school?” Xia Wanqing was surprised. “Weren’t you going to Hawaii with your husband?”

Yan Xiruo sniffed and spoke as monotonously as she could. “He has important matters to handle so we have postponed the honeymoon.” She put on a smile that could fool only herself.

Xia Wanqing had been best friends with Yan Xiruo since high school, and she read between her words despite Yan Xiruo’s effort to cover up what happened. Under Xia Wanqing’s pressuring, Yan Xiruo told the truth.

The bar was dim and messy.

Yan Xiruo sat by the counter and loaded herself with alcohol.

Xia Wanqing didn’t stop her; no one would be able to deal with such emotions.

“Lu Jingchen is such a bastard!” Xia Wanqing was pissed off. “How could he accuse you without any evidence? And are you going to do nothing about the guy who took advantage of you?”

Yan Xiruo recalled the pair of dark eyes and shivered. The man looked more cold-blooded than Lu Jingchen. It was like he came straight from hell.

After another sip of liquor, she shook her head with teary eyes. “I checked with the hotel today. Lu Jingchen did check out of the room…”

Xia Wanqing’s brows locked tight. “You could get inside the room even though he had checked out of it?”

During the wedding, Yan Xiruo was wasted after drinking with Lu Jingchen’s friends. The was no way she could recall who brought her to the room. When she checked the surveillance cameras, she was told by the manager that the camera on that floor was under maintenance.

“Someone was setting me up…” Yan Xiruo’s lips curved into a bitter grin. Countless women were jealous that she could marry Lu Jingchen.

Xia Wanqing clenched her fist. “I will find the villain! This is unacceptable!”

Yan Xiruo nodded. “I will be investigating this. Wanqing, please keep this a secret as I don’t want my family worrying about me.”

Xia Wanqing looked at the girl who just hit 20 carrying the weight on her shoulders. “Ruoruo, please let me know if you need any help.”

“Thanks.” Wanqing’s background wasn’t much better than hers. She had a snobbish mother and young siblings, and she had to support the family as well.
