Why Defeat The Devil? - Chapter 39

“This man…”

When looking at Xi En, who continued to charge at her wielding his broadsword, Laixia felt both frustrated and helpless.

“There’s last time and then now. Does this man just like doing unexpected things?”

It was interesting, but she felt equally powerless when the other refused to use his Sacred Sword like she had wished.

“Can’t he just follow the mood?”

Despite that, Xi En’s concern was not entirely meaningless.

At the very least, Laixia did have her plans in wanting Xi En to unsheathe his Sacred Sword. Since her purpose was screaming in his face, it seemed understandable that he would not go along her way.

Yet, what she had said earlier was true too. Xi En was unable to fight against her at his current level and without the Sacred Sword.

“Is it because I’m not hostile toward him that he isn’t thinking to seriously showcase his all?”

If Laixia did show her intention to kill the other, he would not be refraining from using his best trick like he was now then.

“He doesn’t look like a Warrior at all, but his gaze isn’t clouded with the slightest uncertainty.”

Logically, when one realized that the Devil was already defeated, their own identity as the Warrior could spark a war. The fact that they were summoned could probably be the start of some kind of conspiracy, so the person in question would be more or less anxious.

In front of her, this new Warrior did not seem very lost, although he was caught up in the matter.

It was not because he had an incredibly tough will or because he was calm and composed, it was just his exceptional ability to just accept things.

That was why this new Warrior would not be faltering while he might keep cracking his head over the issue. This meant that he did not actually see defeating the Devil as his life mission too strongly.

“I heard that these Warriors from the alternate universe are dead when they’re summoned to this world to be revived. That’s why they agree to defeat the Devil for the deities in exchange to be resurrected.”

Maybe this man took it purely as a trade or a payment of favor.

Then it would seem normal that he was not thoroughly driven about beating the Devil.

With the ability to just take things as they came, Xi En must brandish his Sacred Sword without hesitation if Laixia showed her real threat, right?

“Can’t help it then.”

Upon thinking about it, Laixia closed her eyes before slowly opening them.

Xi En, who was prepared to charge toward her again, halted.

His Perception of Enemy was reacting hysterically, engulfing him in solid warnings.

Wham!

At the same time, airwaves erupted around Laixia, who was hovering in the air in front of Xi En. Mana far more menacing than earlier burned from the young maiden.

“Enough games, don’t you think so, Warrior?”

Laixia, who spoke, wore an extremely icy gaze and expression in addition to the intimidating mana that rose around her.

She looked like an entirely different person from just now.

Feeling the blaring siren of Perception of Enemy, Xi En understood now. From this moment onward, she carried actual enmity toward him—No, more like murderous intent.

“Gotten impatient?”

Xi En smiled.

“Yes, I got bored.” Laixia answered flatly, “I’ll be attacking with the intent to kill you next. If you think it’s fine, continue hiding your Sacred Sword then.”

Her words received Xi En’s smirk in return.

He ceased his attacks on Laixia and stood his ground.

“Give it a try and see if you can do it.”

That was the reply.

Seeing that Xi En was still not going to use his Sacred Sword, Laixia was exasperated.

“Don’t regret it.”

As she spoke, she extended a hand toward Xi En.

“I have a lot of magic that I use, but there are two that are the most powerful,” said Laixia.

“One’s Gravity Magic, and the other is Spatial Magic.”

Both mentioned magic were Laixia’s trump cards.

“Spatial Magic, especially, is a leading magic of all types in terms of attack, defense, restraint, or movement. Like this!”

Laixia’s outstretched hand was aimed at Xi En.

Voom!

Suddenly, the space around Xi En seemed to sway as an inexplicable sense of compression filled it. Xi En felt like he was hammered to the space and could no longer move.

“This is a magic that locks space itself in place. The locked space will not change at that, like a rock. Nothing inside it can move or be changed. Unless the space is crushed, you won’t be able to escape once you’re locked in it,” Laixia explained ruthlessly.

“Of course, if the level of Spatial Magic is sufficiently high, one can twist, shift, or even cut space other than locking it in place. One can even erase space.”

The words were chilling.

“So? Still not pulling your Sacred Sword out?” Laixia asked, more like gave her final warning.

In the locked space, Xi En kept his eyes on Laixia with the same amusement playing in his gaze.

“Stupid.”

Laixia’s gaze turned cold, and she hesitated no more.

Snap!

As she snapped her fingers, the change took place. The space Xi En was in turned into a small back case as if a black hole had swallowed it.

Bam!

Immediately, the small black case shattered, and the space was completely gone.

There was nothing now in the space. Whether it was the earth or the soil, it looked like it was dug out of nowhere, leaving a gaping black void until…

Bam!

A second explosion sounded.

“What?”

Floating in the air, Laixia looked shocked. It was because…

“Erasing space… Sounds pretty scary.”

Despite the void, a shadow appeared out of thin air like he was manifested from it. Xi En stood there unscathed and said cheerily, “Too bad magic doesn’t work on me.”

Yeap, magic was ineffective against Xi En.

It was not just magic. Physical attacks could hardly do anything to him.

When Physical Resistance and Magic Resistance were leveled to their maximum, Xi En had basically nullified all physical and magic attacks against him.

There was one thing that Laixia had gotten wrong.

“I don’t even need to use the Sacred Sword to fight you.”

Even without the power of the sword, Xi En could not be killed as easily.

“I can’t fight you without the sword? Maybe.

“But that doesn’t mean you can fight me either, Miss Poser.”

This was the reason Xi En was so confident.
