“What… What did you say?!”
Xi En could not help exclaiming.
“Wh-What’s wrong?”
Vivian was taken aback at his reaction.
“It’s… It’s nothing…” Xi En repressed the shock that ran through him, but he was unable to stop himself from asking, “You said that the Devil was defeated a long time ago?”
“Well, yes…” Vivian watched Xi En in alarm, as if making sure of his expression. A while later, she realized that he was not joking. She continued to speak in a bewildered tone, “The Devil was defeated by the Warrior of Mithra Kingdom in the war a millennium ago. That’s how the world recovered its peace and the professional Adventurer came into existence as there was a manpower shortage in the aftermath of the war. Aren’t these historical facts that even children know?”
Xi En did not look well. More precisely, he looked like he saw a ghost.
“What’s the matter with you?”
Xi En’s reaction worried Vivian. Her tone was now edgy.
“I’m… fine.”
Xi En wanted to say something, but he restrained himself. However, he could not help it.
“Can you tell me in detail?” he asked Vivian.
Vivian creased her brows. She was about to question him, but stopped herself because of Xi En’s expression. His forbearance which was not displayed before was clearly etched on his face currently.
He appeared to have found a blot in the meaning of his life. It seemed he was so close to taking the wrong path as if he had been duped by someone, as though he needed to know the truth urgently after going through a betrayal.
It prodded Vivian to say something, but she opted to stay silent in the end.
“It’s something everyone knows.” She tested the waters.
“You should know that the deities and the demons have been nemeses since the world came into existence. It became a long drawn-out war which was the cause behind the births of humans, elves, orcs, dwarves, and even monsters.”
Xi En nodded in response to Vivian’s elucidation.
This was the history he gathered from Ni En. So far, there was no discrepancy between what Vivian and the Goddess said.
“As the deities are generally weaker than the demons in strength and they’re limited in numbers by default, the deities had been at a disadvantage since the beginning of the war. Even when they created the humans, the elves, the orcs, the dwarves, and the other races, the deities did not gain the upper hand against the demons who kept on proliferating ceaselessly.”
“Hence, to triumph over the demons, the most superior being of the deities, the Supreme God, Omnis, finally created the ritual that could summon the Warriors from an alternate universe.”
“Warriors are innately gifted with a powerful exclusive skill and their unique Sacred Sword. Each one of them displays amazing potential. Compared to the best demons, the Warriors are generally more powerful when they’re fully developed.”
“Each addition changes the war’s status quo. The deities and the humans turn the situation around and end up with the upper hand.”
“Unfortunately, the demons have their most powerful being as well who is their true king, the Devil.”
The capability of the Devil was so powerful that even the Supreme God, Omnis, dreaded confronting it. Even a Warrior could not defeat the Devil easily.
Although a few Warriors had appeared in history to reverse the war’s outcome, the deities were still unable to defeat the demons to achieve victory.
What Vivian had said so far was still similar to Ni En’s earlier narration until…
“A millennium ago, the last Warrior who was considered the best in history appeared.”
“The Warrior had a Sacred Sword and exclusive skill much more powerful than his predecessors and easily routed the best troops of the Devil. Finally, the Warrior was sent to the Devil to aid the deities and humans.”
“The Warrior and the Devil were truly engaged in a final battle.”
The battle was not just between the Warrior and the Devil. The most powerful being of the deities, the Supreme God, and three other high-ranking Goddesses, as well as the six fiends under the Devil’s command were all involved in the battle.
The elites among the various races of humans, elves, orcs, and dwarves had also partook in the battle.
“The Warrior defeated the Devil in the battle. The demons were completely crushed. On the other hand, the deities suffered a massive loss. None could continue with the war.”
“Therefore, with the Warrior’s mediation, the deities and the demons declared truce and the world was at peace once again.”
“Following that, so as all the races have equal opportunity, the Supreme God, Omnis, unleashed her power and divided the world into three. She led the deities into one of the worlds and called it Divinity. The other fiends took the rest of the demons into another world and named it Malefic.”
“As for the humans, the elves, the orcs, the dwarves, and the many races that make up the mortals, they stayed in this world to form the Mortal Realm.”
“The war that had continued for thousands or even tens of thousands of years finally ended. The deities and the demons stayed out of each other’s way while the mortals recuperated under the Warrior’s guidance. The Warrior created the countries and became the king of this land, the Mithra Kingdom.”
The war ended a millennium ago. The Devil had long been defeated and was no more.
“Now, the Mortal Realm, Divinity, and Malefic are in contact with each other.”
“The deities are still protecting the mortals, giving their children the blessings.”
“The demons were in touch with the kingdoms in the Mortal Realm too which benefited Malefic.”
“Sometimes, the deities and the demons interacted too. In spite of the hostilities resulting from the war had not been entirely subdued, the present situation has improved by much.”
“Probably, in another millennium, all the three different groups will live together in peace without much distinction. This is, in fact, the aspiration of a lot of people.”
Vivian’s tale took Xi En’s breath away.
“Then the Warriors…”
Xi En’s voice was hoarse.
Vivian kept her eyes on Xi En for some time before speaking, “Warriors no longer appear since the founding king of the Mithra Kingdom passed away. The deities did away with the ceremony of summoning the Warriors too since they had no further use for it.”
It only seemed logical.
“The Warriors was the trump card the deities used to beat the Devil and even the demons. When the war ended and all the three groups were living together in harmony, the Warriors were no longer needed.”
“In other words, it’s a problem if a Warrior ever appears again.”
“Because it means that the deities are prepared to strike the demons once again. The demons will certainly not sit around should the Warrior who is able to threaten them greatly shows up. By then, the mortals will be involved as well.”
“So if a Warrior does appear, the peace and harmony among the three groups will be gone and a war may possibly ensue.”
“In this world, the Warriors are the greatest cause to a war. They should never appear again.”
