Why Defeat The Devil? - Chapter 24

“You must be Xi En.”

The gentle voice addressing Xi En belonged to a pretty young lady with a great figure. She was wearing heavy armor while her huge shield and sword rested against the wall.

Standing beside the young lady were three other female Adventurers who were of similar age and were equally stunning visually.

All the female Adventurers present in the room were breathtakingly young.

Xi En stood frozen at the door, taken aback by the sight that greeted him.

The girls inside the room gawked at Xi En as well. Their varied expressions reflected that they were also studying him.

The gentle young lady was the first to stand up.

“I’m Vivian and I’m currently the leader of this Adventurers group. I’ll also be your guide for the following month. You can just call me Vivian.”

Vivian smiled at Xi En. Her attitude was amiable, but the rest did not seem as friendly.

Xi En looked at the other three girls. All of them were just as outstanding as Vivian in all aspects.

The one beside Vivian wore a black robe with a hood which covered her entire body. Even her face and eyes were hidden under the hoodie save for the lower half of her fair and delicate face.

Partially hidden behind the girl in the black robe was a petite young girl who had a pair of bestial ears and a tail. She looked adorable but was timid and shy. One was tempted to bully the orc girl.

As for the last lady, she was an elf with a pair of pointy ears and waist-length emerald hair. She wore the long robe of a mage and held a long magic staff. She looked quite delicate as compared to the others, in fact, more dazzling than the other debuted idols.

With Vivian in the group, these four young ladies in the room looked mesmerizing. As for the black-robed girl, even her partially revealed face was a testament to her beauty.

Apart from Vivian’s friendliness, such an Adventurers group did not exactly look easy-going either.

The girl in the black robe did not even lift her head, while the orc girl who kept hiding behind her looked incredibly timid. At the same time, the elf girl was tense, and her gaze at Xi En was alert and guarded.

Xi En remained silent for a long time. He felt uneasy.

‘An Adventurers group comprising pretty young girls, huh.’

He had not expected such a setting. Besides, he would be the only male who was going to join them as a newbie.

The plot was…

‘Clichéd as usual, I see…’

It was all Xi En could think of.

Vivian who did not know his feelings maintained her cordial facade as she looked at him standing rooted and silent by the door. In a way, she understood that her group could be quite intimidating at times.

A newbie, and a male at that, was usually at a loss when they met for the first time.

Therefore…

“Please be at ease. Come in and have a seat.”

Vivian received Xi En warmly.

Frankly, Xi En was reluctant to enter. It was not that he disliked interacting with young, pretty ladies. He was a man too. God forbid that he would be upset that he was with a group of gorgeous ladies.

It was just his character. He was more sullen than delighted. He could not help it.

‘I can already imagine how much trouble I’ll encounter by joining this group,’ Xi En sighed to himself.

For someone who just wanted to go on his adventures and be his normal self, he was not particularly enthusiastic to be a part of this group which attracted attention for various reasons.

Unfortunately for Xi En, he could only enter the room and be seated for now.

Vivian and the other girls sat in a row opposite him.

Facing the four pretty girls, Xi En would be considered rude if he continued to stay quiet. With a sigh, he spoke up, “I’m Xi En. Nice to meet you.”

He was being polite.

Vivian was similarly relieved when she took in Xi En’s courteous and conscientious front. In the past, most of the male Adventurers who joined her group were less than desired during their first meeting.

Some of them were furtively checking out the girls, while some had their desires blatantly written across their faces. A few others put up a front, acting like a polite gentleman but could barely conceal their true intentions. Even for those who did not harbor any malice, they seemed pathetic when they pandered to the girls.

Vivian dared not make assumptions about this newbie’s character. At any rate, he looked honest and she was not worried about him being rash.

Certainly, he would be under probation as this was the first time they were meeting. A careful observation was needed to determine his true character.

Vivian then eyed her partners beside her, and the girls looked up respectively.

“Diyeer.”

The black-robed girl introduced herself coldly. Her tone was icy, but her voice was surprisingly sweet with a hint of innocence which endeared her to anyone who heard her.

“I… I’m Lumiya… Nice… nice to meet you…”

The orc girl offered her name in a stutter with both her hands clinging onto Diyeer’s arm, her shy nature in plain sight.

“… I’m Meilica. Nice to meet you.”

The elf girl bowed to Xi En. Her sweet face was still tense. Although she did not show any hostility toward Xi En, her anxiety and mistrust in strangers were apparent.

All three of them kept to themselves without another word. Even Vivian felt helpless over their behavior.

Xi En was relieved instead.

This was a normal response when a male was suddenly put in a team of pretty girls. Naturally, Xi En wanted to be sure.

“Miss Vivian,” he said to the girl. “Are you sure I can join the team?”

Xi En went straight to the point.
