Who’s The Boss? - Chapter 6

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios

Shocked, Shen Che didn’t ask who had been bitten but immediately dashed towards the private room.

From afar, he noticed that the rest area was empty.

Indeed…

Shen Che grabbed a colleague who passed by and asked, “Where’s the person who was bitten?”

“Oh, at the infirmary on the first floor for wound treatment.”

The elevator door opened, and Shen Che ran out. Just as he was about to rush to the infirmary, he heard a gentle female voice. “Here!” He turned around and saw a certain someone sitting on the sofa in the lobby, smiling at him with her hand raised.

Shen Che ran over and was about to curse when Song Qingcheng handed him a clean tissue. “Dry yourself first.”

When he saw blood seeping through the dressing on her left hand, he grabbed the tissue and ran it across his forehead before asking fiercely, “What happened? Why did that dog bite you?”

Song Qingcheng lowered her eyes. “Maybe it doesn’t like me.”

“Bullsh*t!” Shen Che didn’t believe this reason.

That dog had always been very obedient whenever he took care of it. If he gave it a toy, it could lie there and entertain itself for a long time. Why would it turn into a vicious dog that could hurt people when it was under her care?

He had more questions, but the elevator stopped on the first floor.

The team lead of the seventh floor of the clubhouse led a young man who looked like an assistant over. After asking about Song Qingcheng’s injuries, he took out his business card from his suit pocket and handed it over. He said that, if there should be any problems, they could contact him anytime. He had already arranged for a car to be waiting at the building’s entrance. He could send her to the Vaccine Control Center for the rabies vaccine immediately.

Shen Che pursed his lips, “Is your boss such a big shot? If he is sincere, he should come over himself.”

“Shen Che!” The team lead warned.

The young man only smiled. “CEO Yu is still discussing business upstairs. I’m his assistant so I came down to handle this matter first.”

Song Qingcheng shifted her gaze away from the business card and looked up into the young man’s eyes. She smiled lightly. “It’s only two to three hundred yuan for an injection. As for this cash check, please help me return it to your boss.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she placed the check on the coffee table.

The assistant raised an eyebrow.

Song Qingcheng turned her head and said to Shen Che, “I’ll wait for you at KFC across the street. After work, accompany me to the epidemic control center.” Then, without waiting for a response, she took her small bag from the sofa with her injured left hand and walked away.

She had just entered the KFC store when her phone rang incessantly in her purse.

Song Qingcheng picked up the phone, and before she could say anything, Shen Che bombarded her with questions, “Are you stupid? You even returned the 10,000-yuan compensation for psychological damage. They said that they’d compensate you. You refused to sit in a luxurious car but insist on my old little electric moped.”

“This isn’t an opportunity for you to perform.” Song Qingcheng bought a glass of orange juice and chose a seat by the window.

Shen Che sneered and reminded her sternly, “Don’t wander around. Wait for my message after work.”

“Okay.” After hanging up the phone, Song Qingcheng slowly leaned back in her chair.

Compared to other places, it was quieter by the window, which allowed them to take in the night view of the entire street.

Half an hour later, Shen Che finally sent a message.

After the mahjong game in the room ended, he went to the changing room to change his clothes and came over.

Song Qingcheng put away her phone and sat for a while. When she felt that it was about time, she threw the cup on the table into the rubbish bin and walked towards the door.

Late night, the evening breeze blew.

Song Qingcheng stood at the junction and waited for the red light. The warm wind caressed her face. Even though her hair was up in a bun, there were still a few wisps dancing around her face. She raised her hand and tucked the stray hair behind her ear. When she lowered her head, she revealed the back of her fair neck which was arched elegantly.

The traffic light turned green. After making sure that there were no speeding cars, she lifted her foot and stepped onto the zebra crossing.

In an MPV not too far away…

“Is that her?” Gu Zhengshen, who was sitting in the back row, asked his assistant Xu Dong, who was sitting in the front passenger seat. He had spotted the elegant figure from afar.

Without waiting for Xu Dong’s reply, he turned to the person beside him and said jokingly, “Such a beauty. No wonder she didn’t give a damn for your 10,000 yuan. If it were me, I would definitely invite her upstairs and personally accompany her to get an injection. If we had a mutual understanding, we could even have supper together.”

The man, who was resting with his eyes closed, now opened them and looked out through the windshield.

Some distance away, the young girl stood in the shadows of the trees. She was on the phone with a snow-white bandage wrapped around her hand, facing the car at an angle. She wore a simple pair of pure white sneakers; her legs were fair and slender. The night wind filled her plain shirt dress, but it could not hide her exquisite figure. On the contrary, it added to her beauty.

“It’s so late, and she’s wandering outside alone. She’s rather bold.” Gu Zhengshen’s gaze was playful.

The man next to him watched silently for a while before retracting his gaze and instructing Xu Dong, “Call the manager of the Imperial Court and ask him to arrange for a car.”

Gu Zhengshen was surprised. “I was just joking. You’re taking it for real?”

“She’s Jingjing’s classmate.” The man lit a cigarette. The light blue flame from the lighter highlighted the man’s handsome and mature side profile. It was the CEO of Hengyuan Corporation, Yu Tingchuan.

Song Qingcheng stood by the road with her arms crossed. Before Shen Che arrived, a white SUV slowly stopped in front of her.

The door of the driver’s seat opened. She looked across the car and saw a young man in a suit getting out of the car. Song Qingcheng remembered him. He was the assistant who gave her the name card. His name was Xu Dong.

Xu Dong smiled. “It’s not safe for a girl to be out alone at night. CEO Yu asked me to send you home.”

Seemingly having sensed something, Song Qingcheng turned to look at a certain spot. There was indeed a champagne-colored Bentley Bentayga parked there.

However, the champagne-colored car soon drove away.
