Who’s The Boss? - Chapter 5

The elevator arrived at the first floor.

“I have to serve our royal canine friend. I won’t send you over.” Shen Che pressed the button to go to the basement level for Qingcheng. While holding the walkie-talkie, he ran towards the Border Collie.

The black and white Border Collie was currently squatting next to a lush Malabar Chestnut tree, with three or four people in front of it. It raised its mouth slightly, looking like an emperor among dogs.

The elevator door closed, obscuring the scene from Song Qingcheng.

Leaning against the handrail, she could not help but look into the mirror in the elevator. She had smoky makeup on, and under the short, ice-blue hair, she did not resemble her pure and clean usual self. However, her exquisite and outstanding facial features—even when under a decadent disguise—were still extremely charming.

Ding! The elevator reached Basement One.

The moment the door opened, deafening music could be heard.

Song Qingcheng did not move.

In the past few seconds, she reached out and wanted to press the button with the number 7. That was the floor where Shen Che’s VIP room was located. However, as though she suddenly thought of something, she paused and pressed the button with the number 1.

……

Although the business clubhouse in Imperial Court did not have a membership system, the private rooms on the seventh floor were only open to some VIPs. Not only were the security facilities excellent, but the standard of service was also a few notches higher than that on floors five and six.

Some truly wealthy people in South City would have a long-term reservation on a private room for themselves on the seventh floor of Imperial Court.

Song Qingcheng walked out of the elevator, attracting a bit of attention.

She was wearing a white chiffon dress with a wide collar that revealed her beautiful collarbone. Her long hair was neatly tied into a loose bun, giving her an indescribable sense of casual beauty. The makeup on her plain face was extremely light, and she didn’t even have any eye shadow. She didn’t wear any accessories on her ears or neck, but it was just so simple that it made her skin look as white as snow.

Sensing the stunned gazes from the side, she turned her head and smiled politely at the men waiting for the elevator.

One of the men wanted to approach her to exchange phone numbers, but Song Qingcheng got to the reception desk before he could do that. The staff heard the commotion and looked up. She knew this girl. “Looking for Shen Che?”

“Yes.” Song Qingcheng smiled at her.

……

When Song Qingcheng found Shen Che, he was lying on the sofa in the rest area with his legs crossed and playing on his phone. The Border Collie was lying on the carpet and chewing on a colorful bell ball. Occasionally, it would wag its big fluffy tail.

Realizing that someone was approaching, Shen Che quickly got up, hid his phone, and straightened his uniform—in an attempt to put on the image of a dedicated employee. When he saw that it was Song Qingcheng, he heaved a sigh of relief and patted his chest as he shouted, “What the hell…? I thought it was our team lead.”

“Is this how you take care of your royal canine friend?” Song Qingcheng pointed at the Border Collie.

Shen Che scratched his nose, felt guilty for a split second, and then asked, “Why did you come up at this hour? Why aren’t you at the bar?”

“Someone else beat me to it.”

Shen Che’s attention fell on her dress. “When did you buy this? It looks expensive.”

“Yes, more than 700.” Song Qingcheng answered as she approached the Border Collie and squatted down.

The door of a private room nearby opened—

“Shen Che, go to the small kitchen and bring some fruits over!” Perhaps because they were short-handed, the other party hurriedly returned to the private room after he had shouted the instruction.

Song Qingcheng turned her head and asked, “Do you need help?”

Shen Che glanced at her face. He had worked in the clubhouse for three years and was used to seeing all kinds of people. Among them, there was no lack of brutes. As for those people playing cards in the room tonight, who could guarantee that there would not be any perverts among them? To avoid unnecessary trouble, he waved his hand and said, “No need. The small kitchen is just ahead.” As he said that, he saw the Border Collie and remembered his duty. He could only say to Song Qingcheng, “Help me look after our royal canine friend. I will be back soon.”

Song Qingcheng nodded.

After watching Shen Che disappear around the corner, she slowly retracted her gaze and looked at the Border Collie in front of her again.

Under the amber light, the Border Collie’s fur was very glossy, without a stray strand of fur.

…she wondered if its bite would hurt.

Just as Shen Che carried the tray out of the kitchen, the walkie-talkie gave out a jarring noise. He took out the device with his free hand, and the moment he turned it on, he heard the leader’s exasperated voice, “I told you to watch the dog—where did you go? Do you know that the dog has bitten someone?”
