What It’s Like Being a Vampire - Chapter 39

After walking a few hundred meters based on the smell and traces, Xiang Kun stopped at a lake. That was because the scent stopped there. Based on the blood traces on the ground, the last location was the lake.

Had that “creature” flown across the lake with the husky’s body, or had it throw the body into the lake?

Or could it be that the “creature” could not only fly but also enter water?

When Xiang Kun looked across the lake and wondered if he should go over to take a look, he suddenly smelled the special scent that he had been tracing for the past three days. He immediately turned towards the direction of the scent.

He saw a figure standing on a tree that was slightly more than ten meters away. The person was looking at him. Judging from the body shape, he was wearing a coat that covered his entire body. His head looked especially big and he could be wearing a mask or a helmet.

“What the hell…?” Xiang Kun suddenly thought about all the legends regarding vampires.

However, suddenly, the “figure” leaped down from the tree and opened his “arms” and coat as he pounced on Xiang Kun.

“What the f*ck! F*ck!…”

Xiang Kun got a shock and his entire body tensed up. He dodged towards the side.

If the “figure” that had at Xiang Kun was a person who looked terrifying, no matter how terrifying he looked, Xiang Kun was mentally prepared and would not be too shocked.

However, as the distance between them got closer, under the moonlight, Xiang Kun’s vision enabled him to see what the “figure” was — it was not a person wearing a coat, but rather a gigantic bird with a gigantic head!

Xiang Kun dodged and got up after rolling on the ground. He moved very quickly, but the gigantic bird moved even faster. After beating its wings twice, it reached Xiang Kun again and stretched out its claws towards him.

Since Xiang Kun could not dodge, he decided to let the gigantic bird’s claws hit his ribs. Then he made use of that to grab the gigantic bird’s head and dragged it to the floor.

After the changes in Xiang Kun’s body, it was the first time he had used all his strength without holding back. He pulled the feathers on the side of the bird’s head to prevent it from touching himself. Then he clenched his fist and began to punch the bird hard.

He let out a furious roar as he punched the bird. The bird also let out strange screams.

Initially, the bird used its claws to attack Xiang Kun’s body. However, Xiang Kun pulled his body as close to the bird as possible, preventing it from attacking his stomach and lower body. Therefore, the bird’s claws could only hook onto his back and waist, and the sharp claw that was as thick as Xiang Kun’s finger sank into his ribs.

Xiang Kun was trying to see whether the bird’s claw was sharper or if his punches were harder.

After a dozen punches, the gigantic bird clearly could not take it and let go of its claws. It pushed its lower body away and wanted to break free. Xiang Kun let go of it and rolled to the side. He also almost could not take it. The bird’s claws were pushing on his ribs and tearing them apart. If he had not been so close to the bird that it could not use strength, he would have been torn apart by the gigantic bird.

The gigantic bird stopped attacking Xiang Kun. It let out a moan and struggled to fly. However, it fell onto the ground after a distance and flew again. After a few seconds, it disappeared in the night sky.

Sounds of dogs barking and human footsteps were heard. Xiang Kun knew that it was not too late at night and there were still some people who were around walking their dogs. The sounds he had made earlier were too loud and attracted attention.

Xiang Kun did not stay at his spot. He quickly glanced around, picked up his glasses, which had fallen from the fight, and his cell phone. Then he picked up a few gigantic feathers from the bird and stuffed them his pocket before rushing off.

Xiang Kun did not go back home immediately. Instead, he found a desolated corner and lied down on the grass to rest.

He was actually severely injured. There were a few bloody holes on his back due to the gigantic bird’s claws. The huge amount of blood loss made his clothes and pants wet. He had also suffered from several broken ribs and there was internal bleeding in his organs. He could clearly feel his muscles cramping when he was fighting with the gigantic bird.

His right fist, which he had used to punch the gigantic bird’s head, was also severely injured. His fist was badly mangled and the bones on his hand were broken. He could not even straighten his fingers.

If it was an ordinary person, he would have been rushed to the ICU and might not have survived the injuries.

However, Xiang Kun decided not to go to the hospital. He did not do that because he was afraid of exposing the strangeness of his body. Rather, he knew that he would not die so easily.

He could feel the injuries healing.

As Xiang Kun lied on the ground and recalled the appearance of the gigantic bird, he suddenly realized that it was an owl!

However, since when was there such a gigantic owl?

The owl’s wings, when expanded, were much longer than his entire body! The owl was probably 1.5 or 1.6 meters tall!

No wonder he had mistaken it for a person.

It looked like a person with a coat from afar.

Xiang Kun suddenly thought of something. He raised his mangled right hand and looked at the blood stains on it. There was his own blood and the blood of the gigantic bird — or rather, the gigantic owl’s.

Xiang Kun took a deep breath. Then he licked the blood on his arm and swallowed it.

Boom!

He felt as though his brain had exploded. Xiang Kun suddenly felt the “excitement” from the cells in his body. The “excitement” was way greater than that when he first tasted chicken blood or rabbit blood.

The “enjoyment” from that blood was not only restricted to the taste buds on his tongue or his stomach. He felt as though every cell in the deepest parts of his body were rejoicing.

Xiang Kun took a deep breath and felt joy.

If anyone saw him at this moment, they would definitely be shocked. A bald man with severe injuries and blood on his face, lying on the grass and licking the blood on his arm, enjoying himself. That was seriously gross!

Xiang Kun felt hungry. By right, he should feel hungry the next day.

However, the hunger he was experiencing was different from the usual hunger. His body seemed to be reminding him that he needed more of the blood he had just drank!

After resting for a while on the grass, Xiang Kun lifted up his torn t-shirt and checked his injuries on his waist. After wiping off the blood stains, he could no longer see any scars. The injuries on his right hand were also almost recovered and he could stretch his fingers freely.

Xiang Kun climbed up from the ground. However, just as he stood up, an image flashed across his mind.

He felt as though he was wearing VR glasses. He looked at a torn rubbish bag from a first person perspective. His own hands became claws and there was a rabbit ear in the torn rubbish bag.

The entire scene lasted for only one second. Xiang Kun was stunned for a moment. Then he realized what he had seen.
