Xiang Kun was stunned as he looked at the video clip. Moreover, he realized that in the comments section, there were more clips from other angles. However, they were not as clear. Evidently, more than one person had filmed the scene.

He even saw the clip taken by the surveillance camera and wondered if the boss of the shop had uploaded it.

Xiang Kun was at a loss of what to do. After returning the cell phone to the reporter, he made an excuse that he had something to do and left his house.

After walking around for a while, Xiang Kun thought that this incident was not a big deal. When he stopped the culprit, he had not displayed any extraordinary powers. As long as he insisted on declining an interview and remained low-profile, nobody would continue to pay attention to him.

After all, the netizens were only interested in this incident.

Xiang Kun went to the busiest area in town. He found a drinks stall, bought a drink, and sat at the door with his eyes half closed. He looked as though he was dozing off.

However, in reality, he was focusing on his sense of hearing.

The sound of the shop attendant talking, the sound of customers ordering drinks, the footsteps of pedestrians and their chattering. Further away, he heard the sounds of the cars driving on the road, the horns, the announcements, and music from the promotional fair at the nearby plaza. The various sounds were distinguished in Xiang Kun’s mind.

Then he focused on one of the sounds and focused his attention to “capture” it.

For example, when he heard the sound of footsteps, he followed the sound, feeling its motion and position, making deductions of his distance, the texture of the soles of the shoes, and more. He did that until the sound was no longer audible.

Using this method, Xiang Kun used his sense of hearing to “construct” the surroundings.

After drinking blood the previous time, Xiang Kun realized that his sense of hearing had improved tremendously and was better than that of ordinary people.

After drinking blood for the third time, Xiang Kun adjusted his training plan. He decreased the amount of strength training and increased the training for agility and balance. He focused on his vision, sense of smell, and hearing and made plans for these.

Xiang Kun sat by the door of the drinks stall from ten in the morning to five in the afternoon. He did not open his eyes and did not shift his body. The people in the shop probably thought that he was asleep.

At 5:15 PM, Xiang Kun opened his eyes and stretched his body, as though he had really slept. Then he stood up and left the shop, throwing the cup of milk tea into the dustbin. He had not drunk at all.

Instead of heading home, Xiang Kun began to train his sense of hearing.

He walked along the street and intentionally traced the different sources of sound.

Sometimes, when he saw someone making a conversation or on a phone call, he would slowly advance forward to edge closer, until he could hear the conversation. Then he would walk away and increase the maximum distance from the source of the sound.

Sometimes, he would randomly focus on one sound in a mixture of sounds before tracing its source. For example, a certain sound of one’s footsteps, or barking sounds that were not in sight, or a phone ringing in an unknown location.

Sometimes, he used a known location and a continuous source of sound as the focus. For example, the loudspeakers from a mall, the music from a clothes shop, or even machinery sounds. Then he began to lengthen the distance from these sources of sounds.

For his training on the sense of hearing, Xiang Kun’s method was to listen more, distinguish the differences, and explore his limits.

For the next few days, he spent over 10 hours on the streets, listening to different types of sound and training his sense of hearing.

Xiang Kun realized that training at night was much more effective than in the morning.

Not only were his body functions more powerful, his mental condition more focused, and his hearing better at night, there were also much fewer unwanted noises at night and it was relatively quieter. At this stage, it was much easier to train with these conditions.

Therefore, Xiang Kun continued to train in the gym in the morning and strolled along the streets at night to source for sounds.

Because of that, he heard many sounds that he had never thought about before. For example, the sounds of insects in the grass and drains, the sounds of rats chewing on food, the sounds made by the expansion and contraction of different materials in construction buildings and the different sounds of the wind as it blew across streets. There were also some sounds whose sources he could not figure out.

Apart from his sense of hearing, Xiang Kun would also train his sense of smell. Similar to the sense of hearing, he identified and traced different scents.

However, although he was training both senses on the streets, he had to train them separately. That was because he was unable to focus on both senses at the same time.

Therefore, when he first began to train his sense of smell, he would sit down at a corner, close his eyes, and put on earplugs to block his vision and sense of hearing. He used his nose solely to feel the surroundings and distinguish the different sources of smell.

Compared to sounds, scents were more difficult to distinguish. Most of the time, a stronger scent would overpower other scents. After staying in the same vicinity for a period of time, his nose would be used to the surrounding scent and the sensitivity to the scents would decrease.

Therefore, he would sometimes purposely choose the areas with stronger and more sources of smell to conduct his training. For example, rubbish areas, drains, ponds, food streets, and more.

On the night of the 30th of July, after returning from the gym, Xiang Kun did not head out, as he felt hungry again.

It had been about six days since he last drank blood—about the same gap as the previous time.

This time, Xiang Kun did not resist his temptations. Feeling hungry, he killed the rabbit in his house and drank about 165ml of blood.

Then he felt sleepy. He set an alarm to ring after 23 hours.

He wanted to see if he could be awakened when he was in deep sleep.

He set the alarm to ring 23 hours from now because he was afraid that if he was awakened too early, his body might get affected by the lack of sleep.

The alarm was set to ring for one minute with three repeats.

When Xiang Kun opened his eyes again, he was stunned for a moment as he felt that the world had changed. However, after lying down for a few minutes, he realized that nothing was different.

He sat up from his bed and looked at his phone. Indeed, his alarm had not woken him up. It seemed that the sound of the alarm could not wake him up from his deep sleep after drinking blood.

However, he did not know if he would be awakened if someone touched him. How intense would the motion have to be to wake him up?

This time, he had slept for 25 hours and 27 minutes. It was around the same as the previous times.

Xiang Kun suddenly realized that his room was noisy and he could hear the sounds of people chatting outside. Initially, he thought he had forgotten to close his windows. However, when he walked over, he realized that the windows were shut.

Xiang Kun was stunned for a moment. Then he realized that it was not because of the volume of the noise, but rather due to the improvement in his sense of hearing.
