Welcome to the Wasteland - Chapter 50

The dying feeling felt like a nightmare; it was happening slowly, but it was inevitable. Zhou Qingfeng felt like everything became slow motion in front of him. Although he was still trying to fight back, it felt like he was slowing down.

After using his ‘Wittier than All’ ability three times in a row, Zhou Qingfeng was exhausted. On top of that, after being blasted by seven or eight stun grenades, it was already mighty of him to not have passed out by now. He could not do anything about it anymore.

Four officers appeared across him. Two pistols, a shotgun, an assault rifle; these were capable of killing Zhou Qingfeng if they were all fired at once. A bulletproof vest would be of no use.

The enemies’ muzzles were clear as the sky. Zhou Qingfeng could feel the pain from the gravel after bullets hit the stone walls around him. It would only take another few seconds until he…

Whoosh! The bullets, the police — they all disappeared!

Zhou Qingfeng’s chest was still undulating violently. The hands he was holding his gun fell weakly. His blood-shot eyes were still staring across the hall; there were four extremely pissed officers shooting at him moments ago.

Zhou Qingfeng was still extremely anxious. The shock made his mind fall into a near-death loop; he was still waiting for the moment he would die.

However, after some time, where are the bullets? Where are the firing officers? Where is the death?

Hahaha… Zhou Qingfeng laughed all of a sudden while coughing. As he opened his mouth, he spit out some blood. He looked down to find about two to three 9mm bullets on his tactical vest.

The bullets had penetrated the magazine on the tactical vest and hit the fabric layer of the body armor before getting blocked by the ceramic bulletproof plate at the back of it. Zhou Qingfeng felt warm blood dripping off his face; as he touched it, he managed to pull out a small piece of bullet.

It’s luck, it’s f*cking luck!

Hahaha… this time, Zhou Qingfeng laughed out loud. He was happy and relieved. After escaping death, his laughter filled the entire dome-shaped hall. His voice was echoing in the space.

What a feat, I’m still alive, still alive!

The Catastrophe arrived at the very last second, making the cops disappear. The rare bullet that actually hit his chest was eventually blocked by the ceramic bulletproof plate. Although the bullet’s kinetic energy injured Zhou Qingfeng’s body, although fragments of the projectile grazed his face, he wasn’t dead, he wasn’t dead!

Zhou Qingfeng was laughing crazily while yelling in the empty memorial hall. After letting it off his chest, he released the magazine of the USP45 in his hand and reloaded himself. He then stepped on General Grant’s coffin to crawl out of the pit.

The bulletproof shield was still in the hall, but the policemen who pushed it in disappeared together with their belongings. The officer who was shooting at Zhou Qingfeng from the skylight disappeared as well. As for the dead bodies of officers, they were left behind.

Zhou Qingfeng tidied his equipment and collected the rest of the available weapon from the scene before putting it in his weapon backpack. Following the arrival of The Catastrophe, depletion of the weapons would be as fast as food. He was not going to miss the opportunity to collect the NYPD’s excellent equipment.

After leaving the General Grant National Memorial with his weapon backpack, Zhou Qingfeng realized that the police and Leila Fox were gone.

The riverside park was empty and deserted; it was as if everyone had disappeared. There were only a few journalists who were active and running for their lives. They must have been frightened by the sudden change.

Hahaha… The Catastrophe is great! The Catastrophe is wonderful! The Catastrophe is amazing! From now on, I make the decisions unfettered and free. Now… let’s find that robot dog! Anyone who tries to stop me will die!

Zhou Qingfeng strode out with confidence. His majestic and proud posture had a brave vibe to it. Although he had wounds all over his body, he was spirited and fearless!

After a few steps, Zhou Qingfeng unexpectedly found a NYPD mobile command vehicle right outside the memorial hall.

Good stuff!

The vehicle was equipped with serious armor, high horsepower, huge space, and complete communication tools. Heavy vehicles as such were truly a treasure for surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. Zhou Qingfeng ran over quickly and circled the vehicle a few times while praising it continuously. He was nearly drooling over it.

The command vehicle’s door was open. There was a huge cabin once he walked in, and there were all kinds of high-tech equipment that looked classy upon first sight. Apart from the cabin, there was also a rest cabin for senior police officers, and there was a bed and a variety of daily necessities in there.

There was a hot pot of coffee. Zhou Qingfeng poured himself a cup and downed it. It was so bitter he wanted to vomit. He found a few cubes of sugar and chucked them into the cup; together with milk, the coffee tasted a little better.

How nice was it to own such a vehicle during The Catastrophe!

Zhou Qingfeng also found a weapon cabinet in the car that had quite a few weapons and ammunition. He placed his weapon backpack in there before heading towards the driver’s cabin. He got ready to start this expensive, high-end vehicle.

“The NYPD is really rich!” Zhou Qingfeng tried driving it and found that it was far different from ordinary cars. It was fully electric, it had strong power, and after charging it, it could go for over 1,000KM. It had self-driving capabilities, and it was easy to maintain; these functions made it easy for any driver handling this vehicle.

The only flaws of this car was that the weapons were not as powerful as he wanted them to be, and there was a lack of food and water. But it’s fine, he could rob someone when he lacks something! Since there are no more governments, police, or armies around the world, why wouldn’t he rob whenever he wants to?

His first destination was the University of Columbia. Let’s go!

Zhou Qingfeng sat in the driver’s seat and started the car excitedly. The car entered self-navigation mode; after plugging in the electronic map, his baby NYPD car began moving towards the University of Columbia, which was under 1KM away from where he was.

Just as Zhou Qingfeng turned the steering wheel to get on the road, a figure came up from the side of the road and stood in front of the car shouting, “Victor, are you still alive?”

What’s going on? Zhou Qingfeng seemed like he had just encountered a ghost. He popped his head out of the driver’s window and shouted in confusion, “Leila Fox, why didn’t you disappear?”

The random figure was none other than Miss Fox, the one who was clingy with Zhou Qingfeng for some time. Since Zhou Qingfeng did not find her after coming out of the memorial hall, he assumed that she disappeared since she was part of the company. He did not expect her to appear at the moment.

Leila Fox seemed shaken until she heard what Zhou Qingfeng said. Her expression changed as she asked, “What are you implying? Should I disappear?”
