Venomancer Of Gaming - Chapter 12

Before starting, Fatty looked at the name of this Goblin.

He was stunned upon seeing it. This Goblin was actually called Grievous Goblin!

As explained previously, the names of the 5-Star monsters determined their special Stats. Fatty would have known what Stats this Goblin had if it had been called “Fire”, “Quas” or “Vampire” something. However, he had no clue what “Grievous” meant.

His understanding of 5-Star monsters was limited due to his lack of experience in encountering one.

The only thing he could do now was be extra cautious, as he had yet to understand its special Stats.

Lifting his hand, he threw a Miasma attack accurately at the Goblin.

“-9!”

Still okay! Its Magic Armor was not very strong. Fatty was relieved.

“Kalima!” Upon sustaining damage, it turned and saw Fatty’s character. Then, it hollered and charged over at him with bloodshot eyes.

Fatty hastily controlled his character and moved it away. The Venomancer was like the other Ranged Classes, so he needed to put some distance between them. However, he soon realized that the movement speed of the Goblin was slightly faster than his own.

Fatty was wearing Normal Rank shoes, which gave him a +20 in movement speed. The Goblin’s movement speed was most likely between 25 to 30. It would eventually catch up to him at this rate.

Fatty silently counted the seconds as he ran. Miasma now deducted 2 health points/second. If it lasted for 8 seconds, 16 health points would be deducted. Since there was a limit to the amount of mana he had, he needed to make great and careful use of each mana point.

Miasma would use up 5 mana points each time it was executed. Fatty’s 90 mana could allow him to execute 18 Miasma attacks. If each Miasma used caused 25 damage, he could reduce the health points of the Goblin by 450. This amount was quite impressive, for even a 5-Star Goblin would not possess so much health.

Nonetheless, the thing about fighting boss monsters was that one could not rely on calculations to execute a plan. Unexpected incidents might occur in the process and should be taken into consideration for the calculations. For example, the boss monster might self-heal or call for help. Therefore, Fatty had to be prepared for all scenarios.

In combat, the restoration of the player’s health points and mana points was very slow. However, by delaying, one could restore quite a substantial amount, which was Fatty’s plan.

Evidently, this would be a difficult, drawn-out battle.

As expected, the first unexpected situation occurred. When 8 seconds had passed, Fatty stopped running and threw the second Miasma attack at the Goblin. It took away 9 health points, but the toxin effect was not activated!

Fatty was currently at Level 4, so there was a huge difference between him and the 5-Star Goblin. Therefore, the Goblin possessed a certain level of resistance against his Skill Effects.

“Oh shit!” Fatty knew that he was in trouble, for he had been relying on the toxin ability of the Venomancer. Now that this ability could not be activated, the consequences might be quite grave.

When he saw that the Goblin was approaching him fast, he had no choice but to make his character run again.

As he ran, he opened the Stats window and looked at the two free stat points. Gritting his teeth, he used them all on the Luck Stat!

Since the Luck Stat could increase the chances of the effects being activated, such an act might prove to be useful. There was nothing else Fatty could do but bet on it.

The Goblin finally caught up to Fatty, jumped from behind, and slashed down.

Compared to the Common Goblin, the attack speed of the 5-Star Goblin was significantly faster. Fatty could not dodge, so he had to endure the attack.

“-65!”

He lost slightly more than half of his health, which gave him a shock. The 5-Star Goblin’s attack was frightening. It would be Game Over for Fatty if he endured a second attack!

Fortunately, after launching this attack, the Goblin landed on the ground and started running again. There was a slight pause that Fatty made use of to hastily change direction and continue running.

After running a fair distance away, Fatty stopped, turned, and cast a Miasma attack.

Bullseye! The Goblin turned even greener. Perhaps the two Luck Stat points might have worked, for the toxin effect was activated this time.

From then on, a life-and-death chasing game started between them.

When the Goblin caught up to Fatty again, he hastily changed direction. He turned toward the left and started running.

Then, he finally discovered something pleasing: The 5-Star Goblin could not really change direction. It paused once again and continued chasing Fatty.

Thanks to this discovery, Fatty consciously kept changing direction. By making use of the pauses, the distance between the two of them increased.

Fatty now had the opportunity to attack. The two Luck Stat points had really worked! The Miasma attack had hit the Goblin three consecutive times, activating the toxin effect!

The tide seemed to have turned in Fatty’s favor. He could calm down and focus on dealing with the Goblin now.

However, what he didn’t know was that a party was currently heading in his direction…

It was not quite considered a party, for there were only two members.

The guy was a Death Knight, while the girl was a Pyromancer. Of course, they were both Apostles.

While running in Fatty’s direction, the female Pyromancer asked the guy, “Sky, is what you’re saying true? There is really a boss monster?”

“Believe me!” The male player smiled confidently. “During the closed beta, the guild killed a red-hat Goblin there and obtained two Skill Books. One of them was the Pyromancer’s Skill Book: Summoning the Flaming Imp. The primary boss monster is still easy to kill. I will tank while you slowly attack from behind. The two of us should be enough to kill it. When you obtain your Skill Book, leveling up will be much faster for us.”

“You’re so confident. Perhaps the boss monster had been killed by someone else!” The female player, who was called July, complained. “It angers me to recall that I was not invited to the guild’s closed beta…”

Upon hearing that, the male player, who was called Fated Sky, grimaced and said, “There was no choice. There were limited slots for the closed beta. I relied on networking to obtain one with great difficulty. Besides, didn’t the Guild Master say that he would give you one? Why did you not accept it?”

“Don’t bring him up!” July flared up. “I feel disgusted just thinking about him! He used the closed beta slots as blackmail, hinting that I needed to become his girlfriend. Let me tell you something. I would have left the guild if it weren’t for you guys!”

“Really?” Fated Sky was stunned. “Why didn’t you say so earlier? I did not know that he blackmailed you… Did you move house because of this matter?”

“En!” July nodded her head dispiritedly. “That guy actually knew my house address and frequently came over. After what happened over the closed beta slots, I chose to move!”

“Why don’t we leave the guild?” Fated Sky said. “To be frank, I don’t feel happy staying. I did not know what underhanded methods the guild used to obtain these slots…”

“Forget it, let’s stay for a while. We still don’t know what our other friends think about this. We shall talk about this again after asking for their opinion!” July replied.

Fated Sky changed the topic after hearing that. “Where did you move to? What is the place like?”

“Still okay! The environment and neighbors are not bad!” July smiled and commented, “However, a weirdo lives beside me!”

“A weirdo? In what sense?’ Fated Sky’s curiosity was piqued.

“How do I say this?’ July tilted her head and gave it some thought. “It’s a fat guy. When I visited him the first time after moving, he actually locked me out! The door almost hit my face! It makes me so angry just thinking about it!”

“Oh no, that won’t do!” Fated Sky jested. “Someone actually dared to ignore and give the cold shoulder to the most beautiful lady in our guild? That man is definitely a genius in his own way!”

“Go away! I will punch you if you continue!” July rolled her eyes.

The two of them had reached their destination. When Fated Sky saw Fatty’s character, he was stunned. “Eh! You were right. Someone is indeed in the process of killing the boss monster!”

July froze as well. She had been talking about the fatty just now, and now she had encountered a fat Venomancer…
