Trying to Make a Living in Another World with a Bottomless Appetite - Chapter 21

Once they climbed onto the tree, George realized that the tree was larger than he had initially thought.

If this cave was a whole new mini-world that resided below Boneyard Range, then this tree would be a mini-world within a mini-world.

Its branches were so thick that just one George was standing on was able to hold up an entire village on its own.

And the one under his feet wasn’t even the biggest one.

“This tree is huge, and so beautiful!”

Celia got off George and stomped on the tree. Then she tried to take a few steps forward.

“What’s wrong? Now isn’t the time to admire the scenery.”

George was puzzled by Celia’s actions. Rather than the scenery, he was more concerned about the dragon egg.

George calmed himself down to focus on his connection with the egg. Everything seemed fine. The dragon egg seemed to be doing well.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure everything will go smoothly. Haven’t you noticed? There are dragon souls all around. They won’t trouble a dragon hatchling.”

Celia could tell that George was anxious and worried. This was the first time she’d seen him like this, and Celia decided that this side of him was both unfamiliar and refreshing.

“Say, in the future, if you have kids, will you be all awkward and fretful like you’re being right now?”

“I can’t say.” George blushed. He turned away and looked around.

Around them, streaks of white dragon souls flew toward the treetop.

They seemed to have noticed George was looking in their direction, and a dragon soul with a pair of shimmering blue eyes returned his gaze.

When their eyes met, apprehension filled George and he subconsciously tightened his grip on Noxkaius.

However, the other party had no intention of attacking. This made him heave a sigh of relief.

“Relax, if we were a threat, these dragon souls would have attacked us already.”

Compared to George’s nervousness, Celia was much calmer.

“There are some things I can’t tell you yet because it’ll be very troublesome,”

Celia’s voice sounded behind him.

George turned to see Celia smiling serenely. Her smile was so beautiful.

Sensing George’s attention, Celia tilted her head playfully and winked her left eye at him.

“But I can tell you some things.”

George listened quietly.

“We don’t need the fruits at the top. To be precise, they’re not suitable for us.”

Following which, Celia briefly explained the nature of the Fruit of Gifts, giving George a general understanding of the fruit.

“The Fruit of Inheritance huh?”

“Yes, I think that’s why the dragon egg is attracted to it.”

“I see.”

“Are you still planning to go up?”

“Whether it’s to witness the birth of the child or to take the Fruits of Gifts, I want both.”

Celia started, then thought of something, George’s confident smile reflecting in her beautiful eyes.

“What am I going to do with you? Are you so confident that your body can handle it?”

“This body is the body of infinite evolutions. It’s a constitution that normalizes miracles.

“So nothing is impossible for me.”

“I understand. Let’s continue then.”

Given George’s speed, they soon reached the top of the tree.

“It’s gorgeous!”

The crown of the tree was adorned by fruits that were twinkling like stars.

The fruits had a sparkling and translucent surface and were emitting radiance. There were also vague figures of various dragons under the translucent skin.

George, who possessed exceptional senses even found a Chiropteragon Fruit of Gifts.

“There are this many Fruits of Gifts!? If you eat them all and successfully evolve, I can’t even imagine how big your appetite’s going to become.”

After each evolution, George’s appetite would multiply. And Celia couldn’t help but imagine how George would be if he evolves a few more times. As she did, her expression turned peculiar.

George also thought of this problem and expressed his hesitation,

“Should I restrain myself? I don’t think I can sustain myself even with my current appetite.”

For some reason, George felt that if he went on like this, one day he would end up consuming the whole world.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but feel disheartened.

He hoped that in future evolutions, he would end up with complementary traits.

Ideally, complementary traits that could compensate for his bottomless appetite.

After all, evolution is the name of the game. What sort of evolution would it be if it did not improve his shortcomings?

Idealistic thinking is nice and all, but reality was, he had no control over his evolutions.

This put him in a passive position.

“Come on now, don’t think too much. No matter what happens in the future, I’ll always be by your side.”

Noticing George’s mood, Celia wanted to slap herself for making such a misstep.

Hearing her words, George felt slightly better, but he was still worried and possibly even a little… afraid.

Buzz!

Just as the atmosphere turned bad, a loud commotion in the sky caught their attention.

The dragon egg was spinning slowly in the air. With every rotation, a dragon soul would wrap itself around the dragon egg.

The roar of dragons echoed in the air. All the deceased dragons present were cheering for the birth of this new dragon.

The fruits that were on the tree automatically detached themselves and flew towards the dragon egg.

The fruit surrounded the dragon egg like stars surrounding the moon.

“What’s going on?”

“The dragon egg looks like it’s going to eat all the fruits.”

“You silly thing, the Fruits of Gifts were extremely rare even in our era. There’s no way there are as many fruits as you see.”

Dionmya’s lectured in Celia’s head.

George, who couldn’t hear Dionmya’s voice, looked at the dazzling scene in front of him and took a wild guess,

“Maybe the true Fruit of Gifts is the fusion of all of these fruits.”

“That’s right. Your little boyfriend’s surprisingly bright.”

“Of course.” Celia responded proudly as she heard Dionmya praise George, subconsciously puffing up her chest as she did.

Beside her, all of George’s attention was on the dragon egg, so he didn’t notice Celia’s adorable behavior.

Only Celia’s teacher, Dionmya, saw. And she couldn’t help but find the performance of her silly little disciple amusing.

It was right then, when an intense light radiated from Noxkaius that was in George’s hand.

Sensing the powerful energy fluctuation, Celia looked at him in surprise.

“What are you doing, George?”

George raised Noxkaius high in the air and stared intently at the dragon egg in the sky.

“It’s telling me it needs this.”

Hearing George’s words, Celia immediately realized what was going on and turned to look at the dragon egg that was covered by dragon soul and fruits.

“It—!”

Before Celia could finish, George threw Noxkaius at the egg.

The spear transformed into a beam of light and charged towards the dragon egg.

Boom!

The dragon egg absorbed the beam that had the power to annihilate anything and everything. Then, a powerful suction force erupted from the dragon egg.

Light, fruit, dragon souls, all transformed into pure energy and flowed into the dragon egg.

The dragon souls did not resist this phenomenon. Instead, they became even more excited.

The Melody of Dragons reverberated in the treetop, growing more intense by the minute until…

The dragon was finally born.

Crack!

Roar!
