To You Who Never Loved Me - Chapter 3

Chapter 3

< The Beginning of the Story [3] >

The crescent sword cut off the Leviathan’s feet that were grasping me, and

the sound of a beast roaring in the water. Freed from the monster’s grip, I

was sinking deep into the sea. A man who swims flexibly like a mermaid

grabs my sunken wrist and throws me up. Then my body floated above the sea.

“Heo-wook! Kolok, pop!”

There was no land to hang on, so I had to stick my face out of the water.

But it didn’t last long either.

“Aaaa! Suck!”

The Leviathan’s tail was grabbed my ankle and was dragged me down

again. The fight between Leviathan and the man began, leaving me dying

from choking.

Certainly, the sea was Leviathan’s territory. Although the male was also

faster in water than a normal human, his gestures were slower than on a

rocky island.

When I reached my limit, I looked up and struggled to get out of the water.

Suddenly, the moon was shining down as if looking at me. It seemed that it

wasn’t just the moon in the sky that was shining. The two swords that the

man was holding were also white. Also, the man’s body seemed to be

faster than before.

However, I couldn’t take a closer look at him, already running out of breath

and starting to get confused. It was when my eyes were slowly closing. The

Leviathan’s roar seemed to be heard again.

And not long after, my waist was caught. The beautiful man’s face came

close, and air came from his mouth. The breath was blown.

Moonlight came out softly and shone on him. As his body came out of the

water and he was able to breathe in the outside air, his mouth naturally

fell on me. But, he still held me and took care of me who couldn’t swim.

“I told you.”

He also showed a bright smile with dimples.

“We are not dying…”

“….”

“I saved you. right?”

I blinked slowly for a while and looked up at him. It is disrespectful to the

goddess of the moon, but he was as beautiful as the moon.

Under the sea, he gave me a breath when I was dying, and I could feel that

he also brought life to my life.

“…Yeah.”

A dazzlingly beautiful man saved me.

Despair and resignation turned into hope and joy.

No one wanted to save me, and they made me lose my will to live. My

father, who tried to save me, may not try to protect me in a pure sense.

But the first person I met today saved me. I am also grateful for the savior

who saved me when I was thrown into the world alone.

This moment was the moment when the sky and the earth in my life were

upside down.

When that man breathed to me under the sea, I felt like I had been reborn

in my mother’s womb.

“Why did you save me?”

“It is natural to save someone whose life is at stake.”

“And…….”

The man patted my wet hair.

“Because you are cute.”

This person saved me not because I was special or I can be used, but

because it was natural.

Tears seemed to come from the relief that I had lived. Leaning on his

shoulder as if falling, the man silently waited for my trembling to stop.

This is the beginning of a one-line story that saves an ordinary girl who is

about to enter the epic of heroes.

* * *

The man who swam with me went up to the nearest rock island. He

casually squeezed the clothes, undressing the top, and came up to me and

squeezed the water from the bottom of my dress. He seemed to be only

three or four years older than me, but he had a completely old attitude.

At first glance, a large cut was seen on the man’s belly. It seemed like it

wasn’t an ordinary cut, so my gaze went unnoticed. But soon, the man’s

beautiful, face averted my gaze from below.

I didn’t know it because it was urgent beforehand, but the brows are neat

and the overall feature is a thin line. However, his nose, tight jawline, and

fine muscles were clearly male. The gap between the eyelids and the

eyebrows protrudes, so the eyes are naturally shaded.

It’s not just because he saved me or whatever, but it’s obvious that a face

is really beautiful.

The man who was squeezing my clothes immediately turned around and

put on the clothes he had taken off.

“I know this is a bit late, but I think I have to say it.”

“What?”

“Thank you for saving me.”

This time, the man who squeezed the tip of my shirt smiled and knocked

my nose with his index finger.

“Such a wonderful child.”

Still, I’m not that young. Why he treated me like a child…?

“You too, are you here to defeat the monster?”

At my question, the man stared at my face for a while, a little

overwhelming.

“I came to find what I need.”

Was there anything he wanted to look up in this small town? It was a word

that would naturally incline the head in astonishment.

“I thought you were looking for the monster.”

“No, it’s just a coincidence.”

“Then what are you looking for?”

“It is a secret.”

When I can’t get close to him mentally, I get a little moody.

“Are you finding what you were looking for?”

“Well.”

The answer to this question also seems to be a secret. If I can find out, I

will try to help you in return …

“Your wrist is bleeding.”

I was stunned at the thought of myself, hearing the man’s words. The

blood did not flow, but the blood that was spilled seems to have been

washed away by seawater, but the wound remained.

“It looks like when I was loosening the string.”

It seems that the sword he threw toward me to loosen the string left a

scar. I didn’t know it because I was so distracted. To be precise, the upper

wrist was cut, it wasn’t a big cut because of a superficial cut. It could have

been worse.

“Wow, it’s okay! If I go home and apply for medicine, it’ll be better. It’s not

a big wound, so you don’t have to care about it …”

“I’m glad then.”

Did I bother him too much? He who cared for me was staring at the moon

in the night sky as if the pressure quickly cooled down.

In the distance, on the mainland, people saw the Leviathan’s body floating

in the sea and look astonished. It seemed that the people holding torches

and examining with the naked eye were preparing the boat. Seems to be

picking us up soon. The man seemed to be completely uninterested, but I

tried to inform him of this.

Then, by chance, I found a wound on my finger, the tip of my finger was

cut slightly and blood was collected.

“….”

The words my father often said seemed to ring in my ears.

‘If your abilities, l discovered, you will eventually die.’

But father, will the person who saved me would kill me?

My hesitation was short and before long my fingers bleed. I grabbed the

man’s hand. The man seemed embarrassed for a moment, but I didn’t care

and rubbed my blood on his injured finger. I could see his wounds

disappeared without a trace.

It was a familiar and natural phenomenon for me, but not for him. The

man slowly bent down and washed the blood with seawater.

It was the first time I showed someone my abilities with my own will, and a

trembling of fear or excitement spread throughout his body.

“You…….”

The man stopped talking and shut his mouth. At first glance, the voice

seemed angry, so I collapsed without knowing, but unexpected words

flowed from his lips, which seemed to be choosing words for a while.

“…You are a very good child.”

Then he just laughed. No wonder, no fear, no mention of my abilities.

He just praised my actions.

I was happy that it seemed that he was just looking at me as ‘I’, not my

ability.

“What is your name?”

The man asked me for a name.

“It’s Rose Molly.”

“That’s a pretty name. It’s a name that suits you.”

It seemed like this was my chance to ask for his name.

“And you?”

“Michael.”

“…Last name?”

He smiled again and replied in a gentle voice.

“I only have a name.”

I didn’t understand it, but I decided to believe in him.

There were many more questions to ask, but unfortunately, we couldn’t

continue the conversation. This was because the people who were called

Michael’s colleagues rented a boat from the village to pick us up.

It was time for him to be welcomed as a hero.

“….”

In a small town, a food store was opened for Michael. The villagers served

Michael, who killed the monstrous Leviathan, and prepared food for him

every night like a festival. The rumors about Michael spread from city to

city.

Since that happened, Michael and his colleagues have been staying in our

village for a few days. I couldn’t go to their festival location because the

villagers were reluctant to accept me who came back to life after

becoming a sacrifice. When I got home, I had a conversation with my

father’s ghost.

It was a familiar specter I have been seeing since my father died.

[Rose, this father always told you, you should hide your abilities.]

“But father, that person saved me.”

[People in the world are jealous and try to trample on a special child like

you.]

“So when I hid it all the way… My father is dead.”

Father didn’t say anything. I wanted to ask my father.

Father, are you still proud of your special daughter?

I hate having to kneel to ghosts and apologize because it’s not an illusion

that I have to.

“…Father.”

[Yes, Rose.]

“I am scared.”

I survived, but the future was a problem. People no longer show sympathy

for me. For a young orphan with nothing to live on, the sympathy of the

villagers was needed.

It was a time when I was deeply worried.

Dduk dduk, I heard a knock.

At first, I thought I was wrong. This is because no guests come to this

house. But, as proof that I wasn’t mistaken, the cautious knocking sound

persisted. I wrapped the blanket around me and pushed the door open.

“Who…….”

The words I was trying to ask couldn’t go through. It’s because I saw an

unexpected person.

“Michael?”

“It’s been a while, Rose.”

“Here, far away? why, why?”

“I have something to ask you.”

Even in the dark night, his purple eyes glowed like jewels. When I saw his

eyes narrowed to half a moon, I suddenly felt that the night breeze was

cold. I couldn’t keep him standing in the cold.

“Is it cold? Come inside.”

When I stepped aside, Michael came inside without saying anything. As

soon as he came in, I closed the door.
