To Be With You Forever - Chapter 7

Jian Sangyu sized up the home where she grew up and lived in before getting married as she held the wine goblet in her hand. This place used to be her bay away from the storms, but now it caused her to feel distressed and want to get away from there as quickly as possible.

She was not in love with Gu Chen and she knew that Gu Chen didn’t like her. Gu Chen married her out of responsibility and because of the promised marriage agreement from their childhood. She married Gu Chen, because she had no other choice. No one except for Gu Chen had the capability to get her out of the Jian Family.

Jian Sangyu had been putting on a show since she was sixteen as a docile child adored by parents and as a conservative wife preferred by Gu Chen. After putting on this show for so long, she would soon find it impossible to remove the mask.

In the previous life, Jian Sangyu wanted to divorce Gu Chen, because she hated putting on the show all the time and herself who had been living a discreet life just to please others.

Jian Sangyu turned to Jian Jiayue who had come downstairs in a new dress. Their eyes met and Jian Sangyu even raised her goblet to her.

In Jian Sangyu’s eyes, no matter how expensive Jian Jiayue’s dress was and how much jewelry she was wearing, or how fancy the wine she drank was and how elegantly she tried to smile, she was never able to get rid of that rural air of hers.

Just like the name she had.

Jian Sangyu tried hard to remember of Jian Jiyue’s old name – Chen Chunhua, it seemed.

Jian Jiayue was the name she gained after she came back to the Jian Family. She added the same Jia in her name as Jian Jialang because she wanted to disgust her.

Jian Jiayue and Jian Jialang seemed like a family by their names, but Jian Sangyu simply sounded like someone from outside of the family.

Gu Chen tried hard to extract himself from the crowd. He was not interested in participating in social activities, yet he had to keep Father Jian company. He must not humiliate Jian Sangyu by ignoring Father Jian.

But he had been showing a cold expression throughout the entire process and left once he had an opportunity. Then he threw a look around the living room and found that extremely sexy silhouette in the corner of the dessert section.

Jian Sangyu had been distracted by something when Gu Chen came over to her side in silence.

She was leaning against the dessert table as she was tangling the goblet in her fingers. She was not drinking it but made motions of boredom. Her black eyes were not upon any of the people in the living room. She had her head lowered and she was staring at the goblet.

At this moment, she was giving out a cold air of keeping far away from strangers. Although she had a small smile at the corners of her lips… it was not a sincere one.

Was she not happy?

But she seemed quite happy?

Gu Chen found Jian Sangyu quite confusing today. As far as he remembered, Jian Sangyu should not have put on such an expression.

As far as he remembered, Jian Sangyu was a docile girl everyone in the family spoke highly of. After she was married, she was the wife everyone praised.

When she was facing him, she was always so quiet. She didn’t have much expression on her face and she was always looking at him with fear and respect.

She feared him, and that was something Gu Chen had known ages ago.

But Gu Chen had to admit that Jian Sangyu had been a wife who caused very little trouble before today. She never badgered him and even if he was at home only three or four times a year, she never complained. She didn’t make calls to him or his work.

Although he only had one night at home every third and fifth month, she would have meals ready every time he came home.

She was walking and living in a way that perfectly fitted Gu Chen’s standards of a good wife.

Many times, Gu Chen would have forgotten that he was a married man if not for his cousin, Jiang Xing, speaking about her sometimes in the team.

Frankly speaking, Jian Sangyu was not a very visible person.

“Did you know that Jian Jiayue would wear the same dress today?” Gu Chen suddenly asked with a testing tone because the way Jian Sangyu protested to getting changed before leaving the home, made him think that the situation was weird. That was why he suspected the motivation.

Gu Chen’s voice startled Jian Sangyu when it suddenly pierced into her ears. She shivered and the wine spilled out of the goblet onto the back of her hand.

Gu Chen pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and gave it to Jian Sangyu. He frowned when he caught sight of her look of fright. He started to suspect if he was truly that scary.

They had been married for so long and a random sentence could startle her so much?
