Grandpa Gu took a look at General who seemed to have accepted some orders and ran away in a hurry; he showed no further interest in knowing exactly what General was up to. Then he checked the time and left Gu Chen and Jian Sangyu alone at home before heading out to a chess meeting that he had arranged previously with someone else.

Seeing Grandpa Gu leaving, Jian Sangyu let out secret sigh of relief. She relaxed so suddenly that she was no longer sitting up with a straight back. She was just like a child who had been attending a kindergarten class.

Gu Chen threw a quick look at Jian Sangyu’s subtle movement and smiled briefly. He was about to ask her if she needed one more cup of tea when she suddenly stood up, and the next second, General threw himself into her arms with something between his teeth.

What Gu Chen could now see was General’s vast figure rather than Jian Sangyu’s face. But judging from her voice and the way she flattered General, General must have done something that was worth her compliments.

“Let’s go, General.” Jian Sangyu gave a pat on General’s head who was leaning over her, and then pointed at the ceiling-to-floor window. “Go over there!”

General released her and dashed over in the direction she had pointed towards. It was not until Jian Sangyu stood up again when Gu Chen realized what was in her hand. It was a bag of junk food, namely a bag of chips.

She might have sensed that Gu Chen was watching her, Jian Sangyu subconsciously hid the chips behind her back. When she finished the movement, she realized that she had been a bit too obvious with her move, so she turned to her head and said to Gu Chen as she waved the chips. “It is General’s snack. He can’t open it, so he asks me to open it instead!”

Having said the words, Jian Sangyu rushed over to General who was already leaning against the ceiling-to-floor window. As the sunlight fell upon the window, Jian Sangyu sat down cross-legged in front of the ceiling-to-floor window directly basking in the mild sunshine. Then she patted the position next to her and asked General to sit down. Then she ripped open the chip bag and shook it in front of General.

She pulled out a chip from the bag as she sneaked a glance at Gu Chen’s direction. He was just drinking the tea when she suddenly stuffed the whole thing into her mouth and started chewing on the snack. At this moment, General suddenly let out a cry so she instantly covered up General’s mouth.

“No barking! Shut up!” Jian Sangyu bellowed at General in a low voice. “Don’t be stingy, it was just one chip. Without me, you can’t even open the bag!”

General would have talked back to her if he could talk like a human being. A bag of chips? That was a piece of cake.

Of course, Jian Sangyu would never understand what the dog was thinking inside his heart. But as she watched General trying to bite her hand, she stuffed one piece into General’s mouth.

The girl and the dog were in such perfect harmony because they were sharing one bag of chips.

Gu Chen was sitting in the same spot, and Jian Sangyu had not taken another look at him since the first glance. Gu Chen had not been aware of the look she threw at him when he lowered his head and took a sip. Instead, what he saw was the movement in which she was stuffing chips into her own mouth.

Then what he saw was that General took one chip after another from her, and they shared the bag evenly and orderly. They finished the entire bag whilst sitting next to the ceiling-to-floor window in total silence.

Gu Chen thought of the things that were hidden at their own home and the chips he had thrown away. Then he realized that Jian Sangyu must have cursed him millions of times in the dream that night, considering that she was so fond of chips.
