“Is that so? Then my memory must have slipped.” Mother Jian sounded very disappointed.

Jian Jialang threw a look at Jian Sangyu. Although he was aware that she was not speaking the truth, Jian Jialang didn’t reveal her secret. He was thinking that the reason why his sister was talking in this way was because she had her own reason to and that she didn’t need her brother’s help.

“But as I heard, you had a good relationship with Teacher Xiaole? When she celebrates her birthday each year, you will either be on site with her or ask someone else to give her a present?” Jian Jialang spoke in a dubious tone. “Can the rumor be false?”

“It was true before. But as you said, it was a long time ago. I have not been on stage for a very long time, and I have been fading out of the field and the relationship with the contacts there is also not as strong as before.” Jian Sangyu put on such a great show that she almost believed what she said was real. She was skillful enough to fool Jian Jiayue who knew nothing about her.

Jian Sangyue put on a very confused and helpless expression as she was talking. “As you know, Mom, I have almost cut off all social events after I getting married and I have few friends left. I only talk and meet up with people who grew up with us in the courtyard, but even then that’s just once a year.”

“That’s true. The Gu Family has many rules and they don’t like it when the youth from younger generations go out every day.” Mother Jian thought that Jian Sangyu was making a good point. Before Jian Sangyu got married, her parents had already warned her that life would be very different after she got married. What she had been doing before getting married might not be as feasible after she got married.

Later on, Jian Sangyu stopped attending some social events after she got married, which was quite satisfying to both of her parents. They thought that Jian Sangyu was quite obedient.

“Mom.” Jian Jiayue tugged Mother Jian’s sleeves, sounding very unhappy.

The mother and the daughter did have an unspeakable agreement. Mother Jian’s heart ached before Jian Jiayue needed to say anything more. She turned to Jian Sangyu. “Sangyu, Jiayue is making a plan for her program these days, and they want to invite Teacher Xiaole for the program, like an interview of her just after she receives the international grand prize. Could you please help Jiayue out by talking with Teacher Xiaole so that she can spare some time for Jiayue’s program?”

“Mom, I am sorry, I can’t give you a hand in this field. I am not speaking to Teacher Xiaole and there are numerous people in the world who would like to have interview her yet she has refused to be with any program. So I can’t ask her for this favor.” Jian Sangyu turned down the request directly and then she stood up.

She was not going to eat the lunch any more.

“Also, mom, I will ask Mina to remake the contract you gave to me last night. Mom is right, you can get whatever you want back, because those belong to you after all.” Jian Sangyu picked up her purse from the sofa in the living room and said, “I am not in the mood for food. I am going back home now.”

Jian Sangyu had obviously become displeased. Mother Jian became startled by the explosive emotion of Jian Sangyu at this moment.

Usually, Jian Sangyu was quiet and obedient. She had always talked in a very gentle voice and she had never talked with anyone in such a serious tone before.

The first reaction Mother Jian had was that Jian Sangyu was displeased. So what she had wanted to do was to stand up and let Jian Sangyu keep the shares.

But the moment she stood up, Jian Jiayue took hold of her arms. As she looked down at Jian Jiayue, she just couldn’t spill out the words any more.
