In the reception area of the police station, both Nick and Lindsey stood up when they saw Susan coming out.

Nick’s gaze stayed on Susan’s body for a while. He stood in front of her with a solemn expression. “Are you alright?”

Susan shook her head and didn’t say anything.

The police officer stood behind her and smiled awkwardly. He inadvertently glanced at the door multiple times.

Lindsey handed a thermos cup to Susan. Her round little face was filled with worries. “Susan, drink some water!”

“Yes. Let’s go!”

Susan stepped out first, followed by Nick and Lindsey.

After watching them walk out of the police station, the police officer held onto the side of the table and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. The sinister voice of the instructor standing behind a placard sounded. “The deputy chief would like to see you in his office.”

The police officer was speechless.

Outside the police station, the reporters had dispersed after the police coordination.

Susan had just walked out of the door when she was surprised to see the familiar Phaeton.

In the rolled-down car windows, Brad’s eyes were deep and dark. He stared at her intently.

Nick witnessed this scene as well. He suppressed his thoughts of wanting to send Susan home.

Just when indescribable complicated emotions were brewing in his heart, someone tugged on his sleeve.

Nick frowned and turned around. Lindsey frowned and covered her stomach with her hands. She muttered softly, “Mr. Chapman, stomachache… I’ll find a washroom and won’t be joining you!”

“Go ahead.” Nick waved his hands.

Lindsey slipped away as if she had obtained a special pardon.

After sorting out his feelings, Nick walked to Susan and said in a low voice, “I’ll return to the company first. I’ll definitely follow up on this matter and let you know once the results are out! Don’t think too much about these two days. Nothing will happen.”

Susan nodded and replied, “Got it!”

He threw his suit jacket over his shoulder and walked away. In a place where no one saw, a trace of injury flashed past his eyes.

It was already past two in the afternoon. The sun was shining brightly and the faint fragrance of grass floated into the car. After taking a seat, Susan asked in confusion, “Why are you here?”

The man was sitting with his legs crossed. His dark eyes were full of emotions. He pursed his lips and asked in a low voice, “I can’t be here?”

Susan’s small mouth opened slightly, but she didn’t say anything.

She didn’t know if it was her illusion, but Brad seemed angry.

Susan’s thoughts turned quickly in her head and within a short time, she figured out why he might be angry.

She licked the corners of her lips and laughed dryly twice. She blinked her innocent and clear eyes and asked tentatively, “Did I affect the Quin family by going on the hot search again this time?” So you’re here to denounce me?

Susan swallowed the last sentence and didn’t say it out loud.

Brad was speechless.

The man’s gaze suddenly became bitter. Because of her words, these thick eyebrows slowly furrowed. He withdrew his gaze without saying a word, his face becoming darker.

Hans clenched his fists and coughed lightly. “Miss Yates, actually…”

“Start driving!” Brad ordered coldly.

Susan was speechless.

Half an hour later, Centennial Tower came into view. Susan leaned against the car window and turned back in shock. “Why did you bring me to your house?”

She thought that Brad was going to send her home!

On the way, she was looking at Twitter on her iPad in the car, so she didn’t notice the scenery outside.

Upon hearing this, the man stopped in his action of alighting from the car. He said coldly, “Reporters are camping at your house. John asked you to stay here for two days.” After pausing, the man half-laughed and added, “You want to go back?”

Susan was so shocked that she forgot how to react. However, she faintly felt that something was amiss.

Perhaps it was the content on Twitter that affected her calm judgment.

It wasn’t until some time later that she was enlightened. Her assistant reminded her that after entering the circle, she had never exposed her family background. How could that group of reporters have looked for her at her house?!
