After leaving the hospital, Bai Wei grabbed Gu Xiang and interrogated her. “That person is your husband??? Why am I unaware that you got married?”

She was Gu Xiang’s best friend!

“The family introduced us to each other. I thought we were suitable so I got married,” Gu Xiang explained peacefully as though it were as simple as having a meal.

“Suitable? Look at his attitude, how does that look suitable? You’re really a madwoman! Don’t tell me you married him without knowing what he looked like?”

“I’m going to divorce him sooner or later so does it matter if I meet him or not?” Gu Xiang smiled and looked at Bai Wei. “He doesn’t want to meet me and neither do I! It’s best that we don’t see each other at all!”

The whole family was at the dining hall except for Meng Yan, who was on a diet. Since Gu Xiang and Jiang Chi had registered their marriage, the Jiang family called in the afternoon to say that the matter regarding the Meng family had been resolved.

Now that the family was doing better, the atmosphere was a lot livelier. Even Uncle Meng had a rare smile on his face.

Gu Xiang was eating when she heard Li Jiayin say, “Right, the Jiang family called to ask you to head to the Jiang residence tomorrow.”

Gu Xiang choked for a moment before looking at Li Jiayin. “Why do they want me to go to the Jiang residence?”

She had been happy for the whole afternoon about not having to deal with Jiang Chi.

Li Jiayin said, “The Jiang family would like to meet you.”

Gu Xiang replied, “Can I not go?”

Li Jiayin rolled her eyes. “How is that possible? You’ve already married into their family and are considered a part of the Jiang family. You ought to establish good relationships with them. If you don’t go, they would say that I did not bring you up well such that you don’t even have basic manners. Life in the Jiang family will be harder in the future.”

Gu Xiang noticed that even if she was not serious about the matter, Li Jiayin clearly had a different attitude towards the match. Her mother was treating her as the Jiang family’s daughter-in-law.

However, Li Jiayin was right… Although Jiang Chi was not interested in her, she should not offend her sugar daddy. She did not want the Jiang family to use her mistakes against her in case they caused a fuss during the divorce proceedings.

Putting down her bowl, she said, “Understood.”

After eating, she left the dining hall and headed upstairs.

The door to Meng Yan’s room was open. She was having a call in her room while smiling brightly. “Let me tell you, Gu Xiang married that old man from the Jiang family! She seems pretty happy as though she has gotten herself a great man. She clearly has no idea that the old man brings misfortune to his wives and has brought deaths upon several fiancées! I get very vexed when I see her nowadays. Dad would only dote on her and didn’t treat me well. It’s best that Gu Xiang vanishes from this world as soon as possible. What does she know besides pretending in front of my father?”

Meng Yan had never liked Gu Xiang and loved to complain about her to her friends behind her back. Gu Xiang was used to this already. She did not even flinch as she returned to her room.

The next morning, Gu Xiang followed Li Jiayin and Meng Kai to the Jiang residence.

Back when she had attended college, Li Jiayin had never cared about her. Now that they were going to the Jiang residence for a meal, she accompanied her. No doubt, the power of money was strong.

Old Du was already waiting for them. He led them through the door and Gu Xiang saw an old man with gray hair sitting on the sofa.

“Elder Jiang.” When Meng Kai saw Grandfather Jiang, he walked over to him and held his hand. The man seemed overwhelmed with emotions.

Elder Jiang was one of the rare well-known men in the city.
