Third Master Jiang’s Absolute Darling - Chapter 39

“Cough…”

Gu Xiang nearly choked on the tea she was drinking.

Mother Jiang said with disdain, “I know that nothing happened between the both of you from the look of things. You’ve been married for so long and there is no progress at all. Given this pace, when will the Jiang family have another child?”

Jiang Chi was the third child and had two older brothers whose children were already attending schools. Jiang Chi was the only one who was single until now.

Due to rumors that he would bring misfortune to his wives and unfortunate coincidences in the past, the members of the Jiang family thought that he would be single for life. Now that he and Gu Xiang were married, everyone was hoping that they would have a child together soon.

Gu Xiang responded, “Such things can’t be rushed.”

She initially thought that Grandpa Jiang had acted like this because he was old. Who knew that Jiang Chi’s mother would be like this too.

This was so worrying!

Mother Jiang said, “Then you would need to work harder too.”

They still had not consummated their marriage. God knows when they would have a child. Gu Xiang was at her wits’ end and could only agree. Jiang Chi returned not long after.

When he returned, Mother Jiang had gone upstairs and Gu Xiang was in the living room watching television and playing on her phone.

When he came in, he saw her and asked, “Where’s Mom?”

“Upstairs.” Thinking back about his cold attitude when he called her, Gu Xiang treated him coldly as well.

She did not even bother to look at her.

Seeing her acting like this, Jiang Chi said, “I’ll go look at her.”

He proceeded to go upstairs.

Mother Jiang was on the phone with someone and when she hung up, she saw her son entering. He looked worried. “Mom, are you alright?”

Mother Jiang coughed. “Nothing much, just a minor cold. Also… I miss my son a little. If I didn’t fall ill would you not visit me?” Mother Jiang grumbled as she spoke.

Jiang Chi replied, “I’m busy, aren’t I? Moreover, when I heard that you fell ill, I rushed back the moment I could.”

Looking at his mother, he asked, “Other than a cough, are you feeling unwell? Do you have a fever?”

He was very worried. As a doctor, Jiang Chi could not take it when his family members fell ill.

Mother Jiang responded, “No. It’s just nice that you’re back. Let’s go down for dinner! We’re waiting for you!”

Jiang Chi followed beside his mother.

She said, “I’ve seen your wife.”

Hearing his mother mentioning Gu Xiang, Jiang Chi responded, “Did you guys quarrel?”

“Quarrel?” Mother Jiang asked. “Is your mother that kind of person? You’ve finally gotten married. Even if I dislike her, I won’t quarrel with her! Furthermore… if I’m too fierce and scare her away, what would happen?”

Jiang Chi was silent. He had been quite afraid that Gu Xiang would quarrel with his mother.

Mother Jiang said to Jiang Chi, “You’re not young either and your grandpa has been worried sick over your matters. Please put in more effort. Look at you… She is already married to you so please act more like a husband. Stop acting like you’re single and put all your effort into your wife.”

“How am I not caring for her?” Jiang Chi felt that he had cared for Gu Xiang enough.

When she fell ill, he took care of her too. However, she did not appreciate his good intentions! He did not want to coax her.

Mother Jiang continued to say, “That’s right, you’re really caring for her! So why aren’t the two of you together yet? Do you not have any reaction when a woman is standing right in front of you?”

Mother Jiang was anxious. Could her son have some sort of illness after being single for so many years? That would be terrible!
