Gu Xiang answered, “He should be busy.”
“‘Should’?” Hearing this, Mother Jiang frowned and looked at Gu Xiang. Then, she humphed. “It can’t be that you don’t even have any idea of what your husband is busy with, huh?”
Gu Xiang was stunned. She really had no idea. She had not contacted Jiang Chi in the past two days and Jiang Chi had not contacted her either.
Isn’t it normal for two, who have no relationship foundation, to not contact each other when they’re both busy?
Gu Xiang said, “He has a lot of things to do and I don’t want to disturb him.”
“How is that a disturbance?” Mother Jiang was a little unhappy. “Since you are married to him, you should know what he is doing. If he doesn’t come home, you should call him. If a couple doesn’t contact each other and care for one another, and only care about work, how will you have children in the future? Grandpa is looking forward to the two of you getting together. Jiang Chi’s mother was top-notch beautiful when she was young. Even now, when she talked or even when she complained, she was gentle and she didn’t make one angry. Gu Xiang felt that she seemed to be rather dissatisfied with her. And when she heard that Mother Jiang wanted her to give birth to Jiang Chi’s child, she felt a headache coming on.

“I’m not free,” Jiang Chi said. “Have a meal with her and chat with her. That’s it. I’m busy, I’ve got to go.”
He seemed really cold!
Jiang Chi was about to hang up, but he heard Mother Jiang on the opposite end suddenly cough into a handkerchief.
Hearing that, Jiang Chi frowned. “Mom, are you ill?”
Mother Jiang answered, “I’m fine, no big issue. It’s nothing serious. Get on with your work, don’t care about me. Anyway, you are busy. You don’t have to show concern for an old lady like me.”
She sounded like she was complaining and also like she was trying to seek sympathy.
Hearing this, Jiang Chi felt really frustrated. “Fine, I’ll come and visit you later.”
His mother had come back for quite a few days and he never came to visit her. Now that she was sick, he was still rather worried.
Hearing that he was coming, Gu Xiang hung up. The moment she hung up, Mother Jiang stopped coughing.
