Third Master Jiang’s Absolute Darling - Chapter 37

After Gu Xiang handled the matters at her store, she went to the mall with Old Du. Old Du told her to bring some gifts over. Although the Jiang family did not need them, she had to give her mother-in-law a good impression.

Gu Xiang had not been to the mall for a long time and she usually bought everything online. The products at the mall always felt expensive and seemed to be of lower quality. But today, she had no other option.

Meng Yan and her friend were at the mall too. Someone tugged Meng Yan’s hand suddenly and said, “Hey, Yan Yan, isn’t that your sister?”

Meng Yan looked over. Sure enough, she saw Gu Xiang. Beside her was an old man dressed in a suit.

After Gu Xiang had blocked her, Meng Yan did not want to think about her. However, once she saw the old man with her, she smiled. “It’s my sister, let’s go say hello.”

Gu Xiang was looking at jewelry in a store and thinking about giving it to her mother-in-law whom she had never seen before, but suddenly someone came over and held her arm, saying, “Sister.”

Gu Xiang looked up and saw that it was Meng Yan with two of her friends.

When the two friends saw Gu Xiang, they waved. “Hello, Sister.”

Gu Xiang said, “Why are you guys here?”

She was rather surprised to meet someone that she had blocked online.

Meng Yan was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Although she did not like Gu Xiang deep down, she pretended to like her on the surface. “I came to shop with my friends, I didn’t expect to bump into you here.”

Meng Yan looked at Old Du who was beside her. They had been quite a distance away so she hadn’t been able to see him clearly, but now she realized that the man was way older than she had expected.

Luckily, she did not marry him. Otherwise, she would really be mad.

She looked at Gu Xiang again…

Ever since Gu Xiang came to their home, their father had doted on her. It was fine that she was pretty, but her results were also good. It was just that… She never thought that in the end, she would marry such an old man! Of course, Meng Yan didn’t say this in front of Gu Xiang.

She just said, “Then get on with whatever you were doing, we’re leaving first!”

“Go ahead.” Gu Xiang did not want to talk much with her either.

Seeing that Meng Yan had left, she continued to shop. After buying her things, she stepped out and walked around. She saw Meng Yan and her friends holding cups of milk tea.

“So that’s your brother-in-law? He’s so old! Why did your sister marry such an old man?”

“What about it? I think they’re a rather good match,” the other friend told Meng Yan.

Meng Yan giggled. She seemed to be very happy. Meng Yan being happy could only mean bad luck for Gu Xiang.

Old Du stood to the side and knew that they had misunderstood. He told Gu Xiang, “Shall I go over and explain?”

“Nah,” Gu Xiang answered. “I’ll explain it to her another time, let’s go.”

When they arrived at the Jiang’s house, it was already almost dark.

Gu Xiang followed Old Du to the door and saw a beautiful and dignified woman sitting on the sofa. She was wearing a cheongsam with her legs folded. Although she was not young, she still had elegance and her beauty

Old Du spoke up. “Good evening, Madam.”

Hearing him call her Madam, Gu Xiang understood immediately. She was Gu Xiang’s mother. Mother Jiang had red nails. She put down the cup in her hand and looked at Gu Xiang. When she looked up, it was so imposing.

She looked at Gu Xiang and said, “Have a seat.”

Gu Xiang said, “Here’s my gift for you.”

She handed the well-packaged gift over quickly.

Mother Jiang looked at it and said, “It’s enough of you to come here, why bring something along?”

Gu Xiang answered, “It is only right of me to do so.”

She sat down.

Mother Jiang looked at Gu Xiang and asked, “Where is Ah Chi? Why didn’t you get him to come with you?”
