Third Master Jiang’s Absolute Darling - Chapter 35

When Jiang Chi came back in the evening, Gu Xiang was cutting fruit in the kitchen. He didn’t know if it was just him, but it seemed that whenever she was there, his house felt livelier. Even the lights seemed a lot brighter.

He walked in, stood by the kitchen door, watched her cut the mango into pieces, and said, “I saw your mother at the hospital today.”

Gu Xiang answered, “She told me.”

Jiang Chi said, “Her friend was admitted to the hospital and she went to visit him. Is he your relative?”

Gu Xiang said, “Just a friend of my mother’s who often plays mahjong with her. A woman I don’t like very much.”

The reason Gu Xiang disliked that woman was because she would always grab her at every opportunity and ask her, “Gu Xiang, do you think your current father is better than your previous father?”

Every time Gu Xiang heard such silly questions, she was speechless. Everyone knew someone who enjoyed building happiness on others’ pain. They didn’t sense it themselves and they still thought that they were being very funny.

Jiang Chi answered, “Is that so!”

He looked at Gu Xiang. Initially, he had told her about this because he wanted her to know that she owed him another favor now. He was actually here to claim credit. After all, he had a fight with her in the morning. He thought that if he helped her with a favor, she might be happier.

But she wasn’t very happy at all.

She is really such a weird lady!

Gu Xiang took the fruit out, sat down at the side, and asked Jiang Chi, “Did you tell my mother that I was sick?”

“I mentioned it,” Jiang Chi said. “I asked her to come and see you.”

But it looked like she did not come.

Gu Xiang said, “Don’t tell my family about that kind of thing in the future.”

Jiang Chi was a little surprised after hearing her words, “Why? Are you afraid that they would be worried?”

Worried?

Gu Xiang thought of her mother. What would she worry about?

She was not as important as Meng Yan in her mother’s heart.

Gu Xiang felt that if she did not tell her mother, she could at least lie to herself that her mother didn’t show concern because she was unaware. But if her mother knew it and still did not care she would feel rather sad.

She said to Jiang Chi, “Anyway, you don’t have to be concerned about my business.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Chi sat down at the side and stared at her with straight eyes.

Gu Xiang bit her lip. It was unusual to be stared at by him like this and she felt a little uncertain about it. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Tell me about yourself.” When he had brought her back that night, she had cried in her sleep.

Since then Jiang Chi had wanted to ask but the time was not right, so he didn’t mention it.

Gu Xiang said, “What is there about me?”

Moreover, she would not tell him!

When you tell others about all your pain, they will say something like “Oh, poor thing,” but what’s the use of it? Would they bear the pain for you?

No!

When they were talking, her eyes became watery. She hated thinking about the past. Thinking about it would make her uncontrollably sad.

She lowered her head and ate her food. She did not want Jiang Chi to tell she was sad. But how smart was the man before her? When she looked down, he could already tell that she was sad!

Gu Xiang bit a piece of mango and the taste of mango burst in her mouth. He placed his hand gently on top of her head.

Gu Xiang was stunned for a moment. Jiang Chi had already spoken and his voice was magnetic and gentle. It was completely different from before. “Gu Xiang, I am a doctor. You can try to trust me a little. Maybe I can help you?”
