Third Master Jiang’s Absolute Darling - Chapter 28

Gu Xiang reached out her arm and pinched her. “What are you thinking! I am still a child, don’t talk to me about those kinds of things.”

“More like the mother of a child,” Bai Wei said. “He Jia’s child is one-month old next week. He has invited us over, we shall go together?”

He Jia was their classmate. Many of their friends got married soon after graduation. It was normal of them to have children. Initially, Bai Wei was also going to get married but because of Xia Wenxuan, she had no idea when her time would come.

Gu Xiang hummed.

After speaking, Bai Wei moved closer and whispered, “The two of you live together so I don’t believe Jiang Chi can stand it! Just be careful, don’t get pregnant too soon. What am I going to do if I end up having to man the store on my own…”

“You’re overthinking.” Gu Xiang couldn’t stand her. She looked at Bai Wei and realized that this woman was really annoying when she got dirty.

She couldn’t have a good conversation with her.

After their meal, Bai Wei drank some alcohol and Gu Xiang drove her home. She had been on an IV drip the day before and felt a lot better today. Her only lingering symptom was a slight cough.

After sending Bai Wei home, she called a cab to return to Jiang Chi’s place. By the time she got home, it was already rather late.

Jiang Chi had already returned.

When Gu Xiang entered, she saw him sitting on the sofa with a long face.

“You’re back!” She changed out of her leather shoes and into slippers.

Jiang Chi ignored her. Gu Xiang walked over and saw that he was sitting on the sofa with a displeased look. She recalled that in the afternoon she had promised him that she wouldn’t go out.

Now that he was pulling a long face, Gu Xiang felt rather tense. He couldn’t be angry just because she went out right? Was that really necessary?

Usually, she returned home late. Sometimes, she would be so busy that she arrived home around 1am or 2am, yet her mother wouldn’t even say a thing about it!

Gu Xiang explained. “I went to have dinner with Bai Wei. She drank some beer and I sent her home so I got back late.”

She didn’t like conflict. Hearing her words, Jiang Chi’s dark eyes moved.

In fact, he wasn’t angry at her. He had totally forgotten about her promise that afternoon. He was just in a bad mood. In the afternoon, one of his patients had passed away at the hospital.

Seeing Gu Xiang, he felt rather helpless. “Come here.”

He looked very stern and Gu Xiang felt rather uneasy. She was afraid of quarreling with him but she still mustered the courage to walk towards him. When she got closer, she saw the tired look in his eyes.

Gu Xiang asked him, concerned, “Are you okay?”

He reached out and put his arm around her waist suddenly, holding her in his arms. He burrowed his face in her shoulder. Gu Xiang tensed up in his arms. She looked at Jiang Chi and did not speak.

After a while, she said, “Would you like a drink? If you’re feeling down, drinking something warm will help a little.”

He did not answer. She wriggled out of his arms and went to brew him a cup of coffee.

Jiang Chi saw her place the coffee in front of him and said, “I’m sorry, I’m not feeling myself today.”

Gu Xiang answered, “It’s fine.”

Under normal circumstances, she would not have let it slide so easily but seeing that he was in a bad mood, she did not make a fuss.

She looked at Jiang Chi. “Have you eaten?”

He looked like he had not had dinner.

Jiang Chi said, “I don’t have much of an appetite.”
