That was the first time I had ever seen such a weird person.
I had seen tough girls who were even more manly than men. I had also seen male cross dressers who were even more girly than girls. I had even seen the people in between, who were called androgyny.
But Phil didn’t belong to any kinds of those people.
If I had to put him in one category, he was just like Hideyoshi Kinoshita who was not like a ‘handsome girl’ or a ‘delicate boy’ except that Phil never had the special hobby of emphasizing that his gender.
His breast was nearly flat but still had a slight budding. He didn’t have Adam’s apple, but I still saw that place lightly bulging. His voice was a bit thin, but I couldn’t call that a girl’s voice.
He didn’t have obvious male characters or female characters. He was only in the middle, which made people hard to define his gender precisely. Neither my vision nor my auditory sense were able to help me make the judgement.
It was almost like… he didn’t have a gender at all.
If there finally was a human who didn’t have a gender in this world, that must be Phil.
“Eh? Mr. Jun Cheng?”
“Huh? Ah, sorry that I have been staring at you…” Phil waved his hands in front of my eyes, bringing me back to my sense. After I had realized that it was rude to staring at him, I apologized to him right away.
“You are a boy or a girl?”
“Hey!” Come on, how could Yu Hui ask that question so abruptly.
I had also wanted to ask that question just now. It had taken me so hard to bite my tongue!
What if Phil had been troubled about his gender for a long time. Considering of his feeling, I thought that it would be better if I could pick a this topic at the right time after we had got along for a long while.
But I never realized that Yu Hui would speak her mind like that… like what I had used to be.
“This is the first time saw such a strange human being. You don’t have the Yin or Yang spirits at all… Have you covered that up with some magic arts or weapons?”
“You have asked that question as I have expected.” Phil showed a troubled expression on his face with his head tilted.
“Sorry! If she has annoyed you, you don’t need to answer… Hey, Yu hui, you should apologize now!” That look on his face was torturing my conscience. Suddenly I felt myself deserving to die by even wanting to ask him that question.
Then I pressed Yu Hui’s head at once and apologized to Phil with her. However, before we lowered our heads, Phil reached out his hands to hold our shoulders, saying,
“Ah, that’s fine. Basically all the people who have met me for the first time would ask that. Mr. Eddie even asked me for my cells because he said he wanted to make some tests on my chromosomes.” Hearing that, Yu Hui and I both turned around to look at Eddie. As surprised as we were, we still wanted to ask… what was the result of the test!
“Huh? Oh, that happened in last year. I thought I have suffered from the gender recognition disorder. However, after I have run some tests, I found myself having no problems at all. Then I started to be interested in Phil’s gender. After he had given me his consents, I performed a test on his skin cells… It turned out…”
“Turned out what?” x 3. Yu Hui and I, as well as Li Nai (which I didn’t know why) said with one voice.
Eddie looked at Phil first, trying to ask if he could say the result out loud using his eyes. After he had seen Phil nodding, he then said,
“It turned out… there was nothing there. The construction of Phil’s cells are very likely to ours but was actually completely different. Which means, he’s not a human being at all.”
“Aye?! Little Phil is not a human being?!”
“Why would you be so surprised…” It was not like you had met Phil for the first time like us.
“That’s right, Phil is not a human being, but…”
“An angel?” I spoke the answer ahead of Eddie.
“Wow… you have just spoken out the truth. So that is your ability… interesting.” There seemed to be weird light shooting out from Eddie’s eyes. Suddenly I felt that I had become a mouse for the experiment use. With a chill all over my body, I regretted that I had exposed myself so randomly… However, it seemed that Eddie didn’t have the plan to conduct an experiment on me right away. Instead, he changed the subject,
“That’s right, Phil is an angel. Maybe you have heard that angels don’t have genders. So they never get married or give birth to children.”
“Yes, that’s the fact. I am an angel on service. So you could call me gender-free.”
“Do all the angels have no genders?”
“No, our archangel Gabriel is a female. Once we have reached to the upper third level and are not confused anymore, we can choose our own gender then. I am only an intern angel who haven’t been registered in any level yet. So I still haven’t had a gender yet. Maybe this condition will last for a long time.”
“I see…”
“But, I still need an identification in human’s world, so… please consider me as a male. After all, I only go to the men’s lavatory, ha ha.” Puff!
Male… Why had he chosen to be a man…
What a pity!!!!!
Seeing me being frustrated, Yu Hui who was standing beside me squinted her eyes and said meaningfully,
“Master Jun Cheng… You don’t have that kind of interest, do you…”’
“No, I don’t! Of course I don’t!”
“Really?”
“I…” I glanced at Phil again. The latter was looking at me with the innocent look in his eyes while giving out a sweet smile.
Ah-hem… if he was a female… what could I do to Phil if he was a woman? What did I want to do to female version Phil?
I mean, why would I have that kind of thought again? Had the enchanting ritual already affected my mind? So even if it had already been taken away, the influence it had caused still remained?
I patted on my face, forcing myself to collect myself.
Wake up, An Juncheng! It didn’t matter if Phil was a boy or a girl. He could only be your friend in the end!
His gender… was not important at all!
Being adorable was all the thing he needed!
“Phew…”
It looked like I couldn’t be so careless in the short period of time. Even if the enchanting magic ritual had gone, I was still influenced by it. Before I was fully recovered, I couldn’t let my guard down.
“Have I brought troubles to you?”
“No, I would appreciate your help in the future.” Now that my mental power was way stronger than before, I managed to cool down very quickly.
I shouldn’t be swayed so easily in most of the cases right now. But Phil could still stimulate me just with his appearance, that really was an exception.
“So, these are all the members of the Sixth Office, right? What about our chief? Is it Eddie?” It couldn’t be Li Nai, I hoped… If my chief was this dumbass, I would walk away immediately.
“There is still another one. I haven’t introduced ‘Mr. Shadow’ to you.”
“Mr. Shadow?” Who? There was no other one in the room now. Had he gone out?
“Yeah, Mr. Shadow has been around you the whole time. He seems to like you a lot.”
“Huh? Around me?” Where? Why hadn’t I seen him? Wait, Mr. Shadow, it wouldn’t be…
“Xiao’ai, turn on the projector.”
“OK! Watch me now, Xiao’ai light wave!” A beam of light which had been shot out from Xiao’ai’s eyes lighted up the place in front of me.
Then I saw a shadow turning around and waving his hand to me on the ground in front of me.
So that was what it was… that really was a ‘shadow’.
