The old villager handed over a small bag as Chen Bing looked at it eagerly.

A bag of silver coins!

“System: You have received 100 silver coins!”

100 silver coins was not much compared to other games.

However, monsters in “Evolution Island” did not drop coins upon death, and the missions given by villagers were often paid in bronze coins.

1000 bronze coins equated to 1 silver coin. Old Bard and the village chief repeated constantly that the village was poor. It was already generous of them to be able to give out 100 silver coins, and he could not have requested more!

However, the silver coins were just the icing on the cake compared to the other items he might receive. Whatever legendary items, outfits or Master level skill books there was would be the real deal!

O rewards, come to me!

The old village chief smiled at Chen Bing and took out a red square cloth.

“System: Received ‘Villagers’ Certificate of Appreciation’!”

“Item: Villagers’ Certificate of Appreciation”

“Type: Special item, untradeable and cannot be dropped”

“Able to bring back to Homeland: No”

“Explanation: At first glance, this is an appreciation certificate. Upon closer inspection, it is still an appreciation certificate – The sincere appreciation of the villagers of the Ogar Village towards you!”

Appreciation certificate… F*ck, it really was an appreciation certificate, exactly as written on the mission rewards section that we would receive sincere appreciation from the villagers!

Chen Bing could no longer hold it in as he saw the old village chief handing over the certificate.

He felt that this was the last reward of the mission!

“Young adventurer, this is as thanks from the village, you cannot reject our gift to you!”

The old village chief held the certificate and firmly put it in Chen Bing’s palm as if he was scared that Chen Bing would refuse to take it.

“Come, everybody, please give a round of applause!”

Clap clap clap!

Clap clap clap!

Thunderous clapping sounded inside the wooden house.

The old village chief and Chen Bing each held a side of the certificate. The old village chief had a wide grin across his face, while Chen Bing had a stunned look across his face.

“Dear adventurer, Old Bard is waiting for you at Mossy’s wooden house, saying he has to talk to you… Oh, before I forget, if you want to create a boat for further exploration, remember to find the carpenter in the village, he will create a free boat for you!”

After the villagers scattered, the old village chief told Chen Bing this.

Is that it? The mission rewards?

Chen Bing looked at the red appreciation certificate in his backpack and felt he was the unluckiest person in the world at that moment.

I got trolled, with a capital ‘T’!

Shouldn’t they be rewarding me with some ultimate item or secret skill after completing such a tough mission?

And all I received was just a certificate?

F*ck them all! I must have been tricked by them!

Chen Bing was stupefied by the appreciation certificate given to him. Old Bard would not easily give him a mission. If not for the various opportunities he got, knowing that Mossy was killed, and the fact that he saved Harlock from danger, he would not have gotten this reward either.

After trying his best to be optimistic, Chen Bing walked into Mossy’s wooden house.

“You came.”

Old Bard was waiting inside the wooden house. The wooden house had been cleaned before, and it was different than the first time Chen Bing came in.

“Yes, Mr. Bard. I hope you can tell me everything you know. I searched within Solo’s residence, and I can confirm he was killed. If Mr. Bard would tell me the things you know, I might be able to avenge him.”

Chen Bing got into character and spoke earnestly.

“Solo got what he deserved. You do not need to avenge him. I, Old Bard would never lie to you, and I will tell you everything I know. However, to tell you the truth, I don’t know much except two things that might be of use to you.

“Firstly, the missing page by Bo En you are holding right now is the one that Mossy got from Solo’s corpse, not the one that Solo originally was in possession of!

“The wooden box was the actual one I found at Solo’s place, however, the missing diary pages inside were different. I have never read the missing diary pages that Solo held in detail, but I can confirm that there was a faint mark at the bottom left corner of the missing pages in Solo’s possession.

“Somebody replaced the missing pages in Solo’s possession after Solo died. As for why, I do not know.”

Old Bard spoke with a deep voice, and let out a shocking statement.

As Chen Bing had brought Bo En’s diary to his place, and he saw the old wooden box, Old Bard thought it was Solo’s possession. However, after Chen Bing finished his mission and Old Bard tried to investigate in more detail to help Chen Bing decrypt the contents of the pages, he realized that it was a different copy than the one Solo had in his possession.

“You mean that somebody replaced the missing page Solo had in his possession after killing him?”

Chen Bing was quite shocked, as this came as news to him.

This could explain why Solo still had the missing page after being killed.

However, why did the person who killed Solo want to replace the missing page with a fake?

“Secondly, after Solo got Bo En’s missing diary page, he went to “Black Crow Island” several times, located at the northeastern corner. Black Crow Island was quite large compared to small islands like ours. Whatever he did there, I could not possibly know. However, I believe that if you want to know more useful information, you could probably find a clue or two on Black Crow Island. You gave me Bo En’s missing diary pages, so the least I could do is to help you translate the contents of the diary. As for the alchemic formulas listed, I don’t know anything, so I can’t help you with that.

“However, there are alchemists on Black Crow Island. You can try asking them for help.”

Old Bard did not answer Chen Bing, and told him the second piece of information, handing him a piece of paper at the same time.

It was the contents of the diary, translated by Old Bard.

“The experiment failed again? There’s a problem with the formula? Or did some mutation unbeknownst to me occur? I have failed multiple times, I have to try and change it no matter what!

“Damn, those guys are pestering me again. If I don’t come up with something, they will not forgive me!

“Are those guys on drugs? Or did they mention the situation is not looking good?

“Whether they are right or not, I am a great alchemist! Today I am trying out a new formula, and I believe I’m going to get something good!”

After Chen Bing parted with Old Bard, Chen Bing walked towards the entrance of the village.

The rewards of the mission were terrible. However, he could try earning his fair share back from the villagers!

Compass, wooden planks, freshwater, mutated ironwood planks… These things could fetch a high price, and the money he could get could support him for the rest of his life!
