“Clang, clang.”

The wheels of the train rubbed against the rail.

Baili Qingfeng rested on the train, his eyes closed.

The train left at half-past two in the morning, and it would take ten and a half hours to reach Miluo City which was four hundred kilometers away.

There were too many stops on the way which affected the speed.

Baili Qingfeng napped. Before he knew it, it was already dawn.

Many people were whispering on the train.

Baili Qingfeng opened his eyes and saw that they were looking out.

Baili Qingfeng glanced. With the light on the horizon, he saw that tractors, trucks, and tanks were riding on a road next to the railway. They seemed to be more than a regiment.

However, the tractors, trucks, and tanks were unimportant. The important thing was…

The smoke of war.

Baili Qingfeng saw the smoke of war on those vehicles.

The troops seemed to have just retreated from a battlefield. Baili Qingfeng was keen enough to see the bleeding soldiers in bandages.

The soldiers stared at the passengers on the train in silence, feeling numb. Soon, as the railway and the road diverged, they were nowhere to be seen.

“Are they fighting a battle? Is the Aurora army here?”

“It can’t be. We’re in the far south, and the Aurora Empire is in the north. We can’t be fighting the Aurora Empire.”

“Many troops have been deployed. I just saw thousands of people. We would know if a war was going on.”

“I was told a month ago that massive collapses happened in Leeke County. This is not far away from Leeke County. Are they dealing with the cavemen?”

Many people discussed. Those who were sleeping were also woken up.

Baili Qingfeng listened and watched the convoy that had disappeared in silence.

The Jiang family, Eddy and his son, the martial fighters of the Iron Sword Sect, and the marching soldiers…

“Perhaps, I need to change my understanding of this world… It’s not nearly as peaceful as I imagined.”

The train arrived at two in the afternoon, an hour late.

While Shire was sunny and cloudless, it was raining in Miluo City.

It was a thunderstorm that seemed to portend something.

Baili Qingfeng got off. He did not dare to have lunch near the railway station.

Odds were high that he would be charged a hundred bucks for the simplest meal here.

He took a bus to a kilometer away from the Iron Sword Sect. After he had lunch, he bought an umbrella with the money that he had seized and walked to the Iron Sword Sect.

The Iron Sword Sect was not headquartered in the wilderness. Instead, it existed in Miluo City as a martial arts club.

However, it was more spacious than the Jiang Martial Arts Club. It had three buildings and two training grounds the size of basketball courts, with the facilities.

When Baili Qingfeng arrived, he noticed the tension in the Iron Sword Sect.

Not only was the gate half-closed, but two tough-looking men were also on alert below the eaves.

Then, Baili Qingfeng saw a car stop at the gate. Two brawny men got off, and one person greeted them from inside. “Sixth brother and twelfth brother, it’s good to see you. Everybody is here except for ninth brother.”

“What happened? Why has Young Master Lu summoned us?”

“Our leader left for Shire with the elites of the sect yesterday, but they have been out of touch since last morning. At nine, Green Water Manor called. Something happened.”

“Something happened? What is it?!”

“Let’s go in first!”

They entered the yard.

“One of them hasn’t come yet.”

Baili Qingfeng thought for a moment and waited until they all came in case any of them escaped.

However, waiting could be boring.

“This is heavy rain.”

Baili Qingfeng raised his head and looked at the glittering lightning in the clouds.

Cultivating the Thunderous Juggernaut Method, he was very sensitive to electric potential.

“Now, the electric field is 3×103N/C. If I do nothing here, the people in the Iron Sword Sect will grow suspicious. So, to not alarm them, I might as well calculate the charge in the clouds.”

Baili Qingfeng picked up a pebble and calculated it on the wall, using it as a blackboard.

Consider the clouds as an infinite plane. With a negative charge on the ground, the electric field can be measured by E=σ/ε0, where σ is the charge in the clouds per unit area. In that case…

σ = ε0E = (8.85×10^12·s^2·c^2/kg·m^3) (3000·v/m) ≈2.7×10^8C·m^2

Plain and obvious.

The two guards of the Iron Sword Sect grew suspicious of Baili Qingfeng when he lingered before the gate.

One of them was about to yell at him and ask about his identity.

However, when they saw the equations on the wall, they thought such a hardworking student couldn’t be the Iron Sword Sect’s enemy. Also, since it was raining hard…

The men eventually looked at him and ignored him.

After Baili Qingfeng finished his calculations, he looked at the gate and saw no newcomer. Then…

He could as well calculate the intensity of electric fields on the raindrops.

“Zi!”

Then, another car stopped by the gate, and a middle-aged man got off with another man.

“Ninth brother, good to see you. The other brothers are waiting for you.” A guard hurried to hold an umbrella for him.

The man called ninth brother nodded and walked in.

“You’re finally here.” Baili Qingfeng stopped calculating and strode towards the gate.

His movement caught the attention of the other guard, but he did not bother about him until he realized that Baili Qingfeng was coming straight towards the gate. He yelled, “This is not a place for you to come. Go away.”

The man called ninth brother heard it and turned around. When he saw Baili Qingfeng, he remembered the file that the leader had given him the previous day about the guy they were to deal with in Shire…

“Baili Qingfeng?!”

Baili Qingfeng raised his head and looked at the man. Then, ignoring him, he closed the gate that had just been opened.

The ninth brother and the two disciples of the Iron Sword Sect were locked inside the club.

“Hurry! Inform the other brothers that the enemy is here!” Ninth brother’s expression changed and he gazed at Baili Qingfeng warily before stepping back.

The guard who had yelled at Baili Qingfeng earlier ran off in fear and watched Baili Qingfeng close and lock the gate before he put the key into his own pocket.

“Baili Qingfeng, you are bold. You are feeding yourself to us when we haven’t found you yet? You will not return! Brothers, grab your gun!” Somebody shouted inside.

Immediately…

Baili Qingfeng was stunned, as he thought they would attack him with fists and swords in rage. Next moment…

He could not wait for the disciples of Iron Sword Sect to gather anymore…

The umbrella was closed.

“Clang!”

The sword was drawn!
