“Sister Rou, I’ll be heading to Jianghai University in a bit. You should come with me.” Xia Tian did not want Ceng Rou to be by herself. There was, after all, a Tier-two assassin somewhere in the shadows.

“I’ll make arrangements.” Ceng Rou nodded. She knew Xia Tian’s suggestion was to protect her.

There were still matters to be settled in the office, but Ceng Rou left it all to other people at by giving out instructions. Xia Tian was envious watching it unfold.

“Sister Hui, there’s a basketball match today in Jianghai University.”

“It’s still off-season for the CNBA 1 . Is it a friendly match?”

“It’s not just a friendly match. It’s related to that basketball god from before.”

“What? Basketball god? Are you talking about that shooting god who never misses a shot?”

“That’s the one, the basketball god who defeated Fang Li. I heard that they pulled some strings using Xue Chuan’s connections to take revenge. His father’s the vice principal of Jianghai University so if Ye Qingxue refuses to accept the challenge, the literature and art club will be disbanded.”

“The basketball club in Jianghai University is really a letdown. I thought Tang Yan’s presence would bring progress to the club but they’re resorting to these lowly tactics now.”

“Don’t you want to watch the basketball god play again? This would be a great chance!”

“That person has gone off the grid ever since the last game. This is a great opportunity.”

Yang Buhui was a basketball headhunter who dabbled all year long in the sport. Her job was to discover new talent and send them to the CBA 1 .

Most of those players were, in turn, sought from the CNBA.

She was in complete shock over Xia Tian’s performance in the past game. In her eyes, he had all the makings of a superstar. She tried to ask around about Xia Tian but was unable to obtain any information other than his name.

“I won’t let you escape this time.”

“Sister Wen, I think there might be some kind of misunderstanding. I didn’t know that Xue Chuan would do such a thing. I had only just heard,” Tang Yan explained.

“I’ll take care of Xue Chuan. I’m in charge of the student council and nobody but myself can disband any club, not even the vice-principal,” Huo Wennu said in an overbearing manner.

Tang Yan was at a loss for words seeing Huo Wennu up the wall. She was familiar with the force behind the woman — she was only able to take the role of the basketball club’s coach with Huo Wennu’s help.

It had always been her dream to pursue a basketball career. She wanted Jianghai University’s basketball club to be national champions and had been working towards that goal.

She had toiled endlessly for the basketball club to accept her as their coach.

“Sister Wen, I’ll tell Xue Chuan and the rest to stop this fiasco.” Tang Yan got up, wanting to leave.

“There’s no need for that,” Ye Qingxue, who remained silent the whole time, spoke up. “Sister Wen, Xia Tian’s on the way. As club president, I have the right to uphold the dignity of the literature and art club.”

“Xia Tian!? The person who put Wang Nianlin in his place and defeated Fang Li?” Xia Tian left a vague impression on Huo Wennu but she thought that he was no different than any other man. She had never bothered to ask about him.

“That’s the one.” Ye Qingxue nodded.

“I’ll agree to the match since he’s here. However, this is a competition, so there has to be a prize.” Huo Wennu relayed her intentions while looking at Tang Yan.

“What do you have in mind? Sister Wen can decide,” Tang Yan said.

“This match is Xue Chuan’s doing. If he loses, he’ll have to get down on his knees and own up his mistakes to Xia Tian.”

“Sister Wen, you know how Xue Chuan is like. He would never do it,” Tang Yan replied.

“Well, that’s your business.”

Back in the basketball club.

“Brother Chuan, I heard Madam Boss was summoned by that witch Huo Wennu.”

“I know,” Xue Chuan answered with a serious look on his face.

“You know how that witch is. Looks like our match this time’s going to go up in smoke.”

“What can I do? I can’t afford to offend her.” Xue Chuan had never looked this solemn.

“We won’t be able to make them pay for what they’ve done. The whole university knows our basketball club lost to a bunch of sissies from the literature and art club. In basketball.”

“Fang Li, get over here.” Xue Chuan lifted his head and looked towards Fang Li.

“Captain, surely you must think I’ve become more handsome? I share your sentiments,” Fang Li narcissistically replied.

“Is that person really as good as you said?” Aware of Fang Li’s capability, Xue Chuan knew that the chasm between the scores in the last game was not a result of carelessness and mistakes. The opponent must have possessed quite some ability.

“I’ve never met an opponent this formidable.” Fang Li hardly took any conversations seriously, but ever since the last basketball game, he stood for no nonsense at the mention of the game or the basketball god.

“Do you know who he is?” Xue Chuan asked.

“I don’t. I had someone investigate it but they came back empty. I only know his name is Xia Tian and that he was invited by Ye Qingxue.” Fang Li shook his head.

“If we could get someone like that to join the basketball team, we’ll really have a shot at being the national champions!” It was as though a smile had never appeared on Xue Chuan’s face before that moment.

“Madam Boss is back!”

Everybody glanced at Tang Yan at the door. She hung her head low, not uttering a word.

“Madam Boss, has the game been canceled by that witch Huo Wennu?”

“I knew that witch was going to be in the way.”

“I don’t think we’ll be able to get our revenge.”

The basketball club members had their heads bowed. They were looked down upon since their loss against the literature and art club and wanted to regain their pride with this match. However, by the looks of Tang Yan’s face, the odds were against them.

“Madam Boss, say something. What did Huo Wennu decide?” Xue Chuan asked.

“She said the game can continue, but there’ll be a wager.” Tang Yan stared at Xue Chuan. She was in a difficult position because she was too familiar with Xue Chuan’s character.

“What’s the bet?” Xue Chuan questioned.

“If you lose, you have to kneel down to Xia Tian and apologize,” Tang Yan said with a deep frown.

“What? That witch has gone too far! How can she do this!?”

“What’s her problem? No, absolutely not.”

“She’s humiliating the captain.”

Everyone knew how prideful Xue Chuan was. He would never bow down to anybody. His aura announced to the world that he thought himself to be higher than the rest. He usually carried himself in a serious and cold manner.

“I agree.”
