Lu Ziheng’s back was extremely stiff as he pursed his lips tightly. He was betting that Father Shen would not lean close to look at his face.

Just as Father Shen was about to pull on his shoulder, Shen Qinghuan spoke up from Lu Ziheng’s arms, “Dad, didn’t Mom say that she was coming home tonight? Aren’t you going to the door to welcome her?”

Father Shen heard that his wife was coming home and naturally forgot about what he was going to do. He then stumbled through the garden as he went out of the gates.

“Little liar.” If Lu Ziheng hadn’t witnessed it himself, he wouldn’t have known that Shen Qinghuan was so good at speaking without pausing to think. “I’ll climb the wall to leave. Quickly let your Dad back in?”

A summer night in the city centre was slightly cold. This was especially so in the early morning.

Lu Ziheng did not wish for Shen Qinghuan to let her own father suffer in the cold for him.

“I didn’t lie.” Shen Qinghuan pushed against Lu Ziheng to urge him to leave. If they were caught by the strict Mother Shen, things wouldn’t be as easily resolved as it had been with Father Shen. “My mom is really coming home later.”

Lu Ziheng lowered his head. His cold, handsome features were especially attractive under the moonlight.

In their previous life, Shen Qinghuan had taken half a step into the entertainment world, and she had met countless attractive male stars. However, whenever those men stood next to Lu Ziheng, they all lost a little of their charm.

Thinking about this, Shen Qinghuan’s face was red as she whispered: “How about you don’t go home tonight?”

After all, it was already past midnight, and even the final train had left.

It was dangerous for a young boy to walk home alone. Since the Shen home had quite a few empty guest rooms, why not…

Lu Ziheng’s heartbeat began accelerating over Shen Qinghuan’s teasing once more.

Was she a naive fool?

Or was Shen Qinghuan always such a frivolous person?

Didn’t she know to be embarrassed about inviting a boy to sleepover at her house late at night?

“Shen Qinghuan.” Lu Ziheng’s distant, black pupils were fixated on the girl before him, his brows shifted slightly as he asked, “Will you allow just about anyone to sleepover at your house?”

“Of course not,” Shen Qinghuan responded quickly.

The both of them then fell silent.

Lu Ziheng was flustered as he lowered his head. His gaze landed on Shen Qinghuan’s slender legs peeking out of her skirt.

His adam’s apple shifted at the sight, yet there was nowhere suitable for him to avert his gaze to. “Then, I’ll have to trouble you tonight.”

After entering the Shen home, Lu Ziheng finally realized he had been too hasty earlier.

The Shen home was extremely big. It was not an exaggeration to say that even the bathroom on the first floor was bigger than Lu Ziheng’s entire home.

This was Lu Ziheng’s first time entering such a large home, leaving him feeling a little dizzy as he followed behind Shen Qinghuan. As he listened to Shen Qinghuan’s introduction, he felt a strong wave of insecurity hit him.

Since he had already confirmed he had a different type of emotion for Shen Qinghuan, he was determined not to have her suffer with him in the future. However, Lu Ziheng did not have the confidence that he could let Shen Qinghuan lead a better life than this.

In order to prevent Mother Shen from meeting Lu Ziheng in case she woke up for a glass of water, Shen Qinghuan brought Lu Ziheng to her room.

Lu Ziheng heistated. This was, after all, a girl’s room. It wasn’t suitable for him to enter given their current relationship.

“You don’t have to worry about sleeping on the floor. My bedroom has its own living room.”

Shen Qinghuan did not give Lu Ziheng the opportunity to hesitate. However, she accidentally stepped on the button on the floor and caused the chandelier on the ceiling to light up. The sudden assault of light nearly blinded Lu Ziheng.

He instinctively lifted his left hand. His five fingers were especially clear under the light. It took Shen Qinghuan a moment to realise Lu Ziheng was worried she would be affected by the sudden rush of light.

“Huan Huan.” Mother Shen supported Father Shen in and saw that the lights were still lit upstairs. She did not have any free hands and could only shout from downstairs: “Since you haven’t slept, pour a glass of water for your father.”
