The Popular Boy’s Little Fairy - Chapter 26

Perhaps, liking someone was simple.

Simple to the point where it was possible to like them even without knowing the person’s name, character, or family background. Simple to the point where there was no need for any reason at all.

In the past, Lu Ziheng was always bullied by students, who were less kind, for his poor family background.

For children, school violence is without a doubt a form of torture for both their physical and mental health.

This was especially so for boys. Whenever parents brought up their doubts, their teachers would always provide the same excuses. They claimed that the little wounds came from their small conflicts. More outrageous teachers would even consider students’ family backgrounds and lean clearly towards students of better upbringing.

Therefore, since young, Lu Ziheng had witnessed countless incidences of injustice.

He felt that Shen Qinghuan was akin to a dream without a solid form. Although she stood so close to him, he had no way of approaching her.

As Shen Qinghuan lifted her slender neck, Lu Ziheng’s beautiful eyes were sparkling. Her lashes fluttered as she blinked, and her voice was soft and warm as she asked, “Student Lu, how did you discover such a beautiful place?”

This question brought Lu Ziheng back to the present.

Shen Qinghuan’s newly dyed hair brushed against Lu Ziheng’s elbow. The little lady’s face was around the size of his palm, and her almond shaped eyes were bright and charming. Lu Ziheng felt a wave of electricity rushing into his heartspace.

“If you like it here, you can come here frequently in the future.” Lu Ziheng smiled, his voice fully conveying his joy.

At his response, Shen Qinghuan blushed shyly.

Thankfully, the moon had hid behind the clouds, and mist was forming by the river bank again. Shen Qinghuan tried to comfort herself with the fact that Lu Ziheng could not see her clearly. She then heard his low, heavy voice by her earside.

“Ah, it’s already 12:30 A.M.,” Lu Ziheng lifted his wrist and exclaimed.

“What do we do then?” Shen Qinghuan stood up urgently and stumbled forward into his arms. She then rushed to back away with a helpless expression.

How did time pass by so quickly?

Lu Ziheng’s watch was not broken.

In fact, he vaguely realised that earlier, when he bought the barbeque with Shen Qinghuan, they had already gone past the Shen family’s curfew.

A girl and a boy were hanging out alone by the riverside late at night. Even if they did not do anything out of line, no one would believe in them.

Lu Ziheng took off his white shirt before placing it over Shen Qinghuan’s head and whispering, “Don’t worry. I’ll send you home safely.”

Father Shen had gone out for a business dinner and Shen Qinghuan wasn’t sure what time he would be home. It was fine if he had gone to sleep first, but she was worried they would return at the same time.

At times, everything appeared intentional. The things you feared the most had the highest likelihood of occuring.

Lu Ziheng held Shen Qinghuan’s hand and was thankful no one passed by to see their faces. He assumed everything would be fine as he supported Shen Qinghuan to climb over her backyard fence and into her family’s garden. However, at this moment, the noise of Father Shen unlocking the gates could be heard.

Shen Qinghuan’s palms were already cold, and by now, they seemed to have frozen over.

Even more coincidentally, the moon peeked out of the clouds, while there was completely nowhere they could hide in the garden.

Lu Ziheng stood behind Shen Qinghuan and held her from behind. This way, it seemed like there was only one person standing in the garden. He then intentionally lowered his voice to whisper to Shen Qinghuan: “Don’t be afraid.”

Father Shen was slightly tipsy from drinking and was unable to get a clear look. He saw a figure standing in the garden and stumbled over to pat Lu Ziheng’s shoulder. He exclaimed: “Huan Huan, ah. Did you grow taller? Hiccup~ Why are you still awake? Didn’t Dad tell you not to wait up for me?”
