“Who’s knocking out there like a rascal? Do you even have any courtesy?” Fang Lin admonished in an impolite tone.

“Hmph. You’re no one but a low-grade disciple in the alchemy sect. How dare you speak of courtesy before me, Wang Zhen? How ridiculous!” An extremely arrogant voice filled with mockery was heard coming from the outside of the courtyard.

Fang Lin was infuriated as well. Why are you knocking on my door if you’re so proud of yourself? Do you have too much time on your hands?

“Wang whoever, I don’t know who you are. Stop calling out, will you?” he said impatiently.

A tall and skinny youth dressed in red robes stood outside Fang Lin’s courtyard. He pulled a long face after hearing Fang Lin’s remarks. There was even a wisp of rage in his eyes.

“Fang Lin, it’s best you come out to see me now. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude to you,” Wang Zhen threatened as he attempted to suppress the rage in his heart.

“Bah! Go ahead and break down my door if you wish to enter. I’d like to see if you have the courage to do so. If you don’t, then stop making such a din over here! Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?” Fang Lin replied without showing any courtesy.

Wang Zhen suddenly clenched his fists tightly while his powerful inner strength fluctuated around his body. Just as he was about to kick the door open, reason took over his mind and stopped him from doing so. At last, he gnashed his teeth furiously but did not kick down the door simply because he was not allowed to do so.

The door would have been shattered for sure if he were to give it a ferocious kick. Even though it would feel great to him, it would result in very serious consequences.

As a martial arts sect disciple that went over to the alchemy sect, if he kicked down an alchemy sect disciple’s door rampantly, he would have broken the Purple Glow Sect’s commandment. The elder of the alchemy sect would have the authority to subdue him at once. Even if he had a hundred reasons to do so, he did not have the authority to do that.

Similarly, if an alchemy sect disciple were to go over to the martial arts sect and kick down a door, the disciple would similarly be disciplined by the martial arts sect’s elder without mercy.

Although Wang Zhen was extremely infuriated, he was not foolish enough to break the commandment. “Fang Lin, I’m here to commission you to refine elixirs for me, yet you close your door and refuse to meet me. It seems like you’re not following the rules of the alchemy sect, are you?”

Fang Lin burst out laughing. He said across the door, “Which rule of the alchemy sect says that we must open the door when a martial arts sect disciple comes? What if you’re trying to hurt me? In fact, I suspect that you’re trying to harm me now.”

Wang Zhen almost vomited blood from rage. If he had known that Fang Lin was such an arrogant pr*ck, he would have exercised more self-control from the start so that he would not be shut outside the door like now.

“In that case, allow me to extend a formal apology to you,” said Wang Zhen as he attempted to suppress the awkwardness in his heart.

However, Fang Lin did not respond, so Wang Zhen waited for a while. He asked again when he realized that it was all quiet, “Fang Lin, I’ve already apologized to you. Will you open the door now?”

The door opened by a small gap. Fang Lin’s head peeked out through the gap and he took a glance at Wang Zhen. “So, you’re Wang Zhen, huh?” he asked with a frown.

Wang Zhen nodded although he sneered in his heart and thought to himself, ‘You’ve finally opened the door after my persuasion.’ At once, he squeezed a forced smile on his face. “Fang Lin, you’ve finally agreed to come out and see me.”

Pursing his lips, Fang Lin opened the door wider. “Who says I’ve agreed to? I’m only here to see what you want to do since you’re standing outside my door and refusing to leave.”

Wang Zhen chuckled. “I’m here to commission your assistance to refine elixirs, of course, Junior Brother Disciple Fang. I heard that your alchemy skills are just as solid as a high-grade disciple’s. I came because of my admiration for your reputation. I didn’t expect you to be such a haughty person who’s only willing to meet me after much persuasion.”

Fang Lin sneered. He stared at Wang Zhen coldly but did not speak. His eyes seemed to be saying, ‘You’re rather impressive at telling lies, huh?’

Wang Zhen felt uneasy from being under such an intense gaze. He feigned a smile and said, “I wonder if you’re willing to refine a cauldron of Bone-tempering Pills for me, Junior Brother Disciple Fang. If you have any ready-made Bone-tempering Pills with you now, you can sell them to me now too.”

Immediately, Fang Lin said without changing his countenance, “I don’t have any more Bone-tempering Pills.”

Nevertheless, Wang Zhen smiled and said, “Please refine a cauldron for me then, Junior Brother Disciple Fang. I shall come and claim it in three days.”

Fang Lin shook his head and said, “I can’t do it in three days. Moreover, I’ve already run out of the medicinal herbs needed to refine the Bone-tempering Pill.”

Upon listening to his words, the forced smile on Wang Zhen’s face vanished instantaneously. “Are you rejecting me, Junior Brother Disciple Fang?”

Fang Lin nodded. Precisely, he was rejecting Wang Zhen’s request.

Wang Zhen stopped being pretentious at last. “Do you know what are the consequences of rejecting me?” he said, cracking into an unfriendly smile.

“What are the consequences? Are you going to eat me?” Fang Lin responded with his arms crossed.

Wang Zhen scoffed once and stared at Fang Lin in disdain. “I’m a high-grade disciple in the martial arts sect. With just a word from me, just you see how many martial arts sect disciples are still going to come to your place in ten days. I’ll also report you to the alchemy pavilion for selling your pills without permission. If you come to our martial arts sect in the future, don’t think that you can leave our place unscathed.”

It was a threat, a straightforward and clear threat!

From the start, Fang Lin realized that this person came bearing ill intentions. Moreover, he had never met Wang Zhen before and there was no enmity between them in the past. He was here because someone had instigated this or it was on someone else’s order.

While he did not mind the threat, it would be rather troublesome if Wang Zhen were to report him to the alchemy pavilion for selling the pills illicitly.

Even though selling pills illicitly was not a serious offense, it affected the alchemy pavilion’s profit margin. Therefore, the alchemy pavilion would not punish Fang Lin severely, but it would also pay extra attention to his movements in the future. As a result, it would be very hard for him to escape their surveillance regardless. It was obvious that he would refuse to accept such consequences.

Wang Zhen noticed that Fang Lin had not spoken so he thought that the insolent kid was shocked by his threat. He sneered coldly at once and lowered his voice to say, “I really don’t want to make things difficult for you. If you still have the Bone-tempering Pills, I’ll take all of them. Otherwise, refine a cauldron for me.”

Fang Lin was expressionless. Suddenly, he looked toward a spot not far away behind Wang Zhen. “Huh? Why is she here?” he mumbled to himself.

Wang Zhen was stunned for a moment. Soon, the expression on his face turned furious. He was about to express his anger at Fang Lin for tricking him when he suddenly heard footsteps behind him. As he turned his head to take a look, his expression changed drastically at once and he lowered his head in a hurry.

The person that approached was wearing a pale green dress. She was walking casually and her posture was as elegant as an exquisite painting scroll.

It was Han Yinyue!

Wang Zhen lowered his head as he did not have the courage to look at Han Yinyue at all. He felt extremely nervous, but when he noticed that Fang Lin was actually looking straight at her, he cursed him for being an idiot under his breath.

Miss Han hates it when people are looking straight at her. I’d like to see how you’re going to get yourself killed, Fang Lin! Wang Zhen snorted inwardly as he felt that Fang Lin was foolish beyond salvation.

“Fang Lin, I still haven’t thanked you for your help from the other day,” Han Yinyue said to Fang Lin with a sweet smile. She walked to him as if she disregarded Wang Zhen’s presence.

Fang Lin tittered. “Miss Han, I’m just a disciple, yet you purposely came looking for me just to thank me. I’m truly overwhelmed and flattered by your favor.”

Despite Han Yinyue grinning, Fang Lin could tell that there was a faint, indiscernible sorrow on her face.
