The Lord of Elements from a Drop of Water - Chapter 3

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

“Leap Wave Attack: Ability to transform into a wave as you charge forward to lash out your attack. You could also hide your sword within your body and this attack is unstoppable,” the virtual screen stated.

“If I could transform into a wave when I charge forward to lash out my attack, it’ll definitely increase the speed of my lunge greatly. Besides, I could use this skill continuously to escape or push on in my journey. It sounds great. I’ll also be able to attack with my sword from any angle in the wave after I’ve transformed into one and it would be impossible for my opponent to observe and predict my move, so that’s why this attack is unstoppable,” Jon reasoned.

“To master the Leap Wave Attack!”

Jon chose to master the Leap Wave Attack as he felt that the Water Demon’s Bloodthirster was sufficient for the time being and there was no need to further strengthen it yet. It would be better for him to learn and improve his movement skills.

“Ding! You’ve mastered the Leap Wave Attack.”

The system notification chimed to indicate that Jon had learned the skill.

“Leap Wave Attack!” Jon yelled.

He was quick to utilize his newly learnt skill on the Limestone Turtle that was disguised as a rock.

A wave swept past and washed off the layer of ash that the Limestone Turtle had coated itself with to serve as a form of camouflage. As the color of the ash was extremely similar to the color of the turtle’s skin, it was impossible to distinguish with the naked eye when the turtle was coated with ash.

A mark appeared on the creature’s back after it was slashed by Jon’s sword.

However, the Water Demon’s Bloodthirster actually failed to break through the creature’s shell. Although this was entirely within expectations, Jon was still mildly surprised.

The Limestone Turtle flew into a rage after it received the blow and when it spotted its Water Demon attacker, it made a pounce at Jon.

“Leap Wave Attack!”

Jon utilized his skill again.

Jon’s speed was too quick after his transformation into a wave and since he only had a fleeting moment of contact with the Limestone Turtle, he could not plunge his sword into the crack on the creature’s shell. Instead, he could only leave another mark on the turtle’s shell.

“Water Demon’s Bloodthirster!” he roared.

As the duration of contact afforded by the wave was too short, Jon realised that he could only engage it in a combat.

The Limestone Turtle swam towards him swiftly and opened its big mouth to chomp on Jon’s head.

When Jon was still a human on earth, he heard of how forceful a turtle’s bite could be and how the creature would never let go once it had bitten. As it was a ferocious creature, Jon had never touched a turtle before.

But now, he would have to take the bull by the horns.

Raising his left hand, he stuffed his arm right into the Limestone Turtle’s mouth. Jon could hear the sound of his bones being crushed when the creature bit into his arm with all its might.

He only dared to do so because he had the husk of a Water Demon. He would have blacked out from the sheer pain of the bite had he been a human.

After the Limestone Turtle locked its mouth on Jon’s left arm, it began to swish itself from left to right in a frenzy as though it was bent on dismembering Jon’s left arm.

“Hah, you foolish beast! Prepare to die!”Jon bellowed.

With one slash of his sword, Jon sliced onto the creature and severed off his own arm in the process.

With Jon’s arm still in its mouth, the head of the turtle was cleaved off from its body.

The seawater instantly turned red with blood.

“Ding! Mission to kill the Limestone Turtle completed. Level fragment +100 obtained.”

“Ding! Successfully extracted 100 advanced water-type fragment from the Limestone Turtle’s body. Advanced earth-type fragment +1 obtained.”

Jon opened up his data panel and noticed that the level column had been updated to Level 3. He had also obtained 138/40 level fragments and could now upgrade himself. Meanwhile, his advanced fragments column now indicated that he had obtained 25/200 advanced water-type fragments and 1/200 advanced earth-type fragments.

“Upgrade!” Jon declared.

He decided to exhaust all his EXP, for it had already cost him an arm to fight a level 6 Limestone Turtle and since this world was teeming with creatures that were far more powerful than the Limestone Turtle, he knew that he was still too weak.

“Ding! 40 level fragments were used. You’ve advanced to level 4. Now that you’ve levelled up, you obtain a roll. Do you wish to use it immediately?

“The roll expires within 24 hours. Please use it as soon as possible,” the system noted.

“I’ll use it now.”

Jon chose to use the roll immediately.

The virtual screen opened. It displayed the image of a horse-racing machine that could be seen everywhere on the street. However, the slots on the horse-racing machine that represented the prizes were all blank. Yellow dots of light swam across the screen and finally stopped on one of the slots.

Subsequently, the pachinko machine vanished.

A few words popped up on the screen.

“You’ve drawn your lot. Congratulations, you’ve obtained a Skill Enhancement Point.”

“Skill Enhancement Point: It could strengthen a skill that you already have.”

“Enhance the Water Demon’s Bloodthirster.”

Jon chose to strengthen his Water Demon’s Bloodthirster for this was the main skill that he relied on to inflict damage.

“Ding! Successfully enhanced. The Water Demon’s Bloodthirster has been upgraded to the intermediate level.”

Jon immediately tested the prowess of his Water Demon’s Bloodthirster after the upgrade was complete.

“Swish!”

A gaping gash appeared on the Limestone Turtle’s shell.

“Cool!” Jon exclaimed.

He was thrilled at the thought of how the Water Demon’s Bloodthirster had become more than twice as strong as before.

“Continue to level up,” he announced.

The level column now indicated that he was on level 4. As he had 98/80 level fragments, he could still undergo one more round of upgrade.

“Ding! 80 level fragments were used. You’ve advanced to level 5. You obtain a roll now that you’ve levelled up. Do you wish to use it immediately?

“The roll expires within 24 hours. Please use it as soon as possible,” the system indicated.

‘I’ll use it now.’

Jon chose to use up the roll immediately.

The virtual screen revealed the image of a common pachinko machine that could be found anywhere along the streets. However, the slots on the machine that represented the prizes were all blank. A yellow light dot darted across the screen erratically before.

Subsequently, the pachinko machine disappeared.

A few words popped up on the screen.

“You’ve drawn your lot. Congratulations, you’ve obtained the Bloodthirster Sword Toss skill.

“Bloodthirster Sword Toss: Tosses the Water Demon Bloodthirster which explodes upon contact with the enemy to cause damage to the area,” the system noted.

It was lucky of Jon to draw this skill for the Bloodthirster Sword Toss could make up for his current lack of long-range attack skills.

“Ding! You’ve successfully mastered the Bloodthirster Sword Toss.”

The system notification chimed to indicate that Jon had learnt the skill.

“Ding! Mission completed. Level fragment +100 obtained.”

Jon stepped forward and retrieved the Elemental Stone from the top of the underwater rocks and completed his mission.

“Ding! Elemental Stone detected. Do you wish to extract the advanced earth-type fragment from it?” the system prompted.

“Wow, this mission is way too awesome!” Jon exclaimed.

A look of joy was written all over his face when he heard the system’s notification and he began to praise the system’s mission for its intelligence.

“Extract the advanced fragment,” Jon announced.

He was not the least hesitant to proceed with his choice, for it wouldn’t be easy for him to lug such a stone around.

“Ding! Extraction in progress… Successfully extracted 4 advanced earth-type fragment.”

As the system’s notification made the announcement, the energy of the Elemental Stone’s essence was extracted and the Elemental Stone was transformed into an ordinary rock.

Jon then tossed the stone on the ground and tapped open the mission panel again.

He quickly noticed that a strange mission had been newly added to the panel.

“Collect a ball of flame.”

Jon was utterly clueless as to what this meant.

“Collect a ball of flame? Is there something wrong with the system? We’re currently in a Water Elemental Plane. The whole world engulfed by an endless horizon of sea and there was no land to be found at all. How could I find a ball of fire in a world like this? This mission system is too absurd!” he thought.

“Forget it. I’ll complete this mission after I’ve reached the peak of my cultivation and shattered the void to travel to the mortal world.”

With slight disappointment, Jon embarked on his journey to find a training ground.

But just when he took a step forward, he suddenly sensed a pair of eyes watching him.

The hairs on his back stood on end as he swiftly turned around in search of the source of his discomfort.

However, he could not find the creature that was watching him despite looking everywhere. However, when his eyes scanned across a particular spot in the distance, a warning popped up on the virtual screen.

“Kelp Demon. Elite level 17.”

Both Jon and the Kelp Demon were elite level creatures but the demon was 12 levels higher in rank than Jon and it had already set its eyes upon Jon despite being some distance away from him.
