The Insane and Good-For-Nothing Madam - Chapter 27

Nangong Yan hated to be linked to that good-for-nothing and wanted to deny it right away, but Feng Ruchu was quicker and spoke before Nangong Yan did, “Why did you visit so frequently if it wasn’t to see me? Surely it can’t be to see my sister Feng Fei’er?”

Nangong Yan was indeed going to clarify that he did not visit to see Feng Ruchu, but what Feng Ruchu said made him swallow his words.

All the ministers in the hall turned to look at Nangong Yan, waiting for what he had to say.

“I went to meet the chancellor,” said Nangong Yan through clenched teeth, seething.

“Oh, so you visited our residence to meet the chancellor…” Feng Ruchu repeated contemplatively, as if she had just realized something.

“Isn’t our crown prince loyal and patriotic? Look at how much he cares for the kingdom and his people. Attending the imperial court every morning and discussing national affairs for hours was simply not enough, so our crown prince would often visit the chancellor’s residence personally. I truly respect you, Your Highness…”

Feng Ruchu seemed to be implying something with her words.

Now in a dangerous position, Nangong Yan glared at Wang San furiously.

Wang San, who was already barely managing Feng Ruchu in the first place, started shaking like a leaf when he realized that he had pissed Nangong Yan off with his words.

“Then… Maybe you liked that I could protect you with my decent cultivation base!” As a servant at the chancellor’s residence, Wang San had only reached the foundation stage, which barely allowed him to use his fire spiritual root to start a fire and burn firewood.

“I liked that you could protect me with your decent cultivation base?” Feng Ruchu echoed in surprise.

“Yes!” Wang San said confidently, completely throwing caution to the wind.

Feng Ruchu scoffed. She walked towards Wang San and motioned for him to get up from the floor.

Wang San lifted his head and looked at Feng Ruchu in confusion.

“I said get up!” Feng Ruchu yelled.

Clueless as to what Feng Ruchu was planning, Wang San followed her instructions and stood up, trembling in fear.

Before he could even stand up completely, Feng Ruchu grabbed his shoulder with her slim fingers. Feng Ruchu’s grip was so strong that Wang San yelped in pain, and Feng Ruchu proceeded to lift Wang San up and throw him over her head. He crashed to the floor with a pained groan.

Wang San had not expected Feng Ruchu to attack him. After all, in the sixteen years that Feng Ruchu had spent in the chancellor’s residence, she had been a good-for-nothing who would just cry and whine when she got bullied. When did that girl become so agile and skilled at martial arts?

Seeing that Feng Ruchu was approaching him again for another attack, Wang San summoned small flames on his fingertips, wanting to throw them at Feng Ruchu to defend himself.

But Feng Ruchu was way faster than him. She lunged forward and gripped Wang San’s wrist, and there was a loud cracking sound as his wrist was crushed. Wang San shrieked in pain and the flames on his fingertips spread to his hands as he set them on fire.

“Look at how weak you are. You can’t even handle me, but you have the audacity to claim that I eloped with you because I liked that you could protect me with your cultivation base,” Feng Ruchu scoffed and flung Wang San’s wrist away disdainfully.

“I don’t see how anyone would buy what you said.”

The ministers in the hall averted their gazes in embarrassment.
