The Insane and Good-For-Nothing Madam - Chapter 25

“Enough, please stop with the trash-talk. I have seen better acting than this, so don’t waste your time. You are certain that I had an affair with Wang San and eloped with him, right? That’s fine, but I would like to ask Wang San a few questions,” Feng Ruchu interrupted.

“What is there to ask when Wang San already admitted to it?” Not expecting Feng Ruchu to be so sharp after she returned, Feng Mo’er was afraid that she would find out the truth and quickly tried to stop her from asking Wang San anything.

But Feng Ruchu would not let Feng Mo’er get her way.

“What Wang San admitted to was none of my business. I plead not guilty, unless you have utter disregard for the innocent and actually plan to extort confessions by torture?” Feng Ruchu asked sarcastically while shaking her head, and everyone was rendered speechless at her words.

It was true that even murderers had the right to defend themselves. Why should they only listen to that servant about what really happened?

The emperor’s heart sank. He had no intention of stopping Nangong Yan when he had tried to kill Feng Ruchu earlier, with reasons like the elopement and disobedience of the imperial edict to justify it. After all, there was no place among the royals for a good-for-nothing, not to mention letting this good-for-nothing become the queen of the kingdom in the future.

But Mo Qing, for some unknown reason, had shown up and interfered. He had even magically conjured a cushion and was seated comfortably in the hall with a cup of tea in his hand as he watched the drama.

The Saint’s presence gave the emperor no choice but to listen to what Feng Ruchu had to say, despite his eagerness to get rid of Feng Ruchu.

“How have you been wronged? Tell us and I shall do you justice,” said the emperor with a grim expression.

“Are you the servant who Feng Mo’er claimed that I eloped with?” Feng Ruchu walked to the servant and asked coldly.

Feng Ruchu stressed on the words ‘Feng Mo’er claimed’ to make it clear that she had nothing to do with this man.

“What are you saying, Ruchu? Are you denying our relationship?” Wang San asked, lifting his head to look at Feng Ruchu in surprise.

Wang San had been bribed by Feng Mo’er into framing Feng Ruchu to get rid of her, and none of them had expected the good-for-nothing to come back alive.

However, Feng Mo’er had come up with a second plan when she saw that her initial plan of destroying Feng Ruchu’s reputation and accusing her of disobeying the imperial edict might fail. Wang San only had to say the lines that he had rehearsed with Feng Mo’er before this, just in case Feng Ruchu decided to stand up for herself.

“Our relationship?” Feng Ruchu smiled widely and asked, “What relationship?”

“We are…” Wang San sat up straight and trailed off when he found himself out of words. After all, he and Feng Ruchu were just a wanton woman and an adulterer to the others.

Wang San hesitated for a while before finally answering, “We loved each other. We vowed to get married, and to never give up on each other.”

“Get married? Why don’t I remember that? Could I have hurt my head when I fell off the cliff and forgotten all about it?” Feng Ruchu asked thoughtfully as she massaged her head.

Thinking that Feng Ruchu must have run out of excuses to be claiming loss of memory, Wang San silently heaved a sigh of relief.

To his utter shock, Feng Ruchu leaned close to him with a vague smile on her face, and asked, “Since you said we loved each other, let me ask you this—who made the first move?”

Feng Ruchu’s face was young and innocent, but Wang San saw the viciousness in her eyes and began to panic.
