The Indescribable Diary - Chapter 48

Although he had just spent 200,000 dollars, he felt as though he had paid for nothing. Sure enough, in-app purchases were the source of all evil, thought Yu Yi, who was the very embodiment of paying too much for in-app purchases.

With barbecue in hand, he walked on the street. Although it was 11 PM, there were still many people outside. This wasn’t ancient times or a foreign country. The chances of encountering danger while walking alone at night was very low. Not just that, Yu Yi had weapons on him. If someone tried to rob him, he might just rob the robber instead… Who was to tell? To be honest, Yu Yi hoped for someone to come rob him. He might just solve Yu Yi’s cash shortage problem.

“This is too bad… If this continues, I can only dream of sneaking back to wreak havoc. I can’t even afford an air ticket.”

Although he had escaped from that place, Yu Yi had to return at the end of every year. On the anniversary of his mother’s death, he would go back to pay his respects. All these years, he had never been caught. It was probably something that his family had silently approved of.

“That damned old devil and those bunch of bastards… We always say that one entered the grave with peace. What are they trying to do climbing out of the cemetery…”

Yu Yi tore the lamb skewer with his teeth, as though he was chewing on everyone he hated.

He threw away the finished skewer and stood up from the park bench. Time to go home.

He took a straight path from the park intersection, turned right at the junction, and crossed the bridge. This was the route to Yu Yi’s rental flat. Yu Yi had traveled this route countless times, so he couldn’t be more familiar with it. In fact, he could probably walk the entire way without opening his eyes. Although that would be impossible. With the hordes of cars in the city, closing one’s eyes while walking was almost suicide. Cars didn’t have eyes after all.

After crossing the junction, Yu Yi stared at the red blinker of the traffic light. He stood there silently, waiting for the green light. For some reason, the weather suddenly became a little cold… However, why would he feel cold on a hot summer night?

He narrowed his eyes as he reached into his jacket. An extendable baton rested in the inner pocket of his jacket.

“May I know what’s the matter?” The person Yu Yi was staring at tilted her head slightly. A beautiful face appeared before Yu Yi. Although she was wearing a trench coat and wore a hat, she didn’t actually look like a suspicious person. In fact, she looked like she was trying to avoid the attention of paparazzi. She looked at Yu Yi cautiously. “You’ve been looking at me. Is anything wrong?”

“Oh, nothing much. Apologies. Your side profile looked quite similar to one of my friends, so I probably identified the wrong person.”

Yu Yi moved his hand out of his jacket as she smiled at the woman apologetically.

The green light lit up as Yu Yi strode across the zebra crossing. Afterward, he went his separate ways with the woman. Yu Yi no longer felt like he was being watched. His clothes were soaked in cold sweat. Although the frigid moment had passed, the fear of seeing some novel horror reverberated in Yu Yi’s mind. He had been suppressing this feeling so that he would not be discovered.

Not a human! That woman! Was definitely not human!!! But… How was this possible! If not human, then what was she?!

After returning home, Yu Yi collapsed on his bed and massaged his temples. If this was in game, there would at least have been a 1D20 check for Yu Yi just now.

Perhaps because of the curse or perhaps because of some other reason, Yu Yi had been able to see a glimmer of light on all organisms ever since he was born. This ability had gained the attention and grooming of his family. Although it seemed like a useless ability that was only sometimes usable, his family thought otherwise. Even though he had betrayed his family by escaping, his family had only cast a curse on him instead of killing him immediately. Perhaps they still hoped for Yu Yi to return as their heir and… priest.

Just now, Yu Yi’s ability was triggered. He felt that something was wrong when he was reaching for his weapon… The response of the woman was so horrifying.

Tentacles, tentacles on her entire body. Even her beautiful face was made by tentacles, while the distorted and nauseating body beneath those clothes was immensely unsightly. This was the first time Yu Yi saw something like this in this world. Not human. There was no way she was human. It could be an aggregated form of creature.

Did this escape from the game’s instance mission?

Yu Yi felt that he must have gone mad because of the effects of the curse. However, what he saw was real… A real enemy? Expose her? No way. He couldn’t do it. Even with this power, Yu Yi was nothing more than an ordinary person. Unless he really had Yuming’s Tai Sword. But that would be impossible.

“Never mind, it doesn’t matter to me…”

Yu Yi opened his window to allow the wind into his room and to calm down his mind. But… the air that was blown inside… was too cold?

“Young man, do you like the night?”

A pair of legs appeared on the window. Yu Yi looked up as his pupils dilated. A woman in a black robe was sitting on top of the building. Or rather, on the ledge of Yu Yi’s window.

“It’s alright. But compared to the darkness, I prefer the mist.”

He didn’t know how to answer, so he blurted out a random answer.

“Mist… you’re really one to like chaos. Mediocrity is probably the defining trait of humans… Apologies for disturbing you.”

The woman stood up from the window and climbed to the top of the building. She disappeared in Yu Yi’s sight. If Yu Yi was truly an ordinary person, he would have assumed that he saw a crazy person. However, Yu Yi had seen much more. This ought to be a coincidence… If I bumped into a non-human by just opening the window… then it wouldn’t be hard to imagine just how many things lurked in the darkness. That is even when they shouldn’t be here in the first place.

He closed his window and clambered onto his bed with a solemn expression.

This was a mess. The entire world was a mess. He met two strange creatures on the same night, and both of which were dangerous… The one that was covered in tentacles was probably something that escaped from a COC instance mission, while this one was probably a …. lich? Did it escape from a DND instance mission? But why would such a high-ranking creature escape from DND? Wasn’t it established that the higher the instance mission level, the lower the chance of appearing in real life? And to appear directly in Huaxia… There shouldn’t be that many COC games with Huaxia as the background! But DND… its templates weren’t based on real-life at all.

“Never mind, why does it matter to me… No matter how bad the chaos, it only concerns the country and the world governments… I only have to do my own things.”

He put on his watch and glasses and turned on his game simulator. Game Login. Now, time to try to finish the single-player TPRG game in one go! He was on a break tomorrow anyway. It didn’t matter if the game lasted for more than 24 days.

But something irked him… If DND and COC instance missions had appeared, would that mean that Infinite TPRG and Holy Grail TPRG may appear too? The Infinite TPRG was not likely to appear. After all, it was supposed to simulate the space of the Main God. But the Holy Grail TPRG on the other hand?
