The Great Trump Card - Chapter 69

Outside of the building for the sports major, Lin Huai and the others trotted over and happened to see a rather tired-looking Li Kandao walking slowly toward the same building as well; Lin Huai recognised him as Li Kandao at first sight.

Lin Huai didn’t even know Li Kandao’s physical appearance or what he looked like before this, but Lin Huai still managed to instantly recognise him at a glance.

Other than Li Kandao, no one would emanate such a strong murderous intent in this school. Lin Huai had met Dao Zi, and Dao Zi was also known as Zhang Chunlei’s first-ranked Red Cane who could intimidate everyone in the sports major. However, he realized the killing intent emanating from Li Kandao was even stronger than Dao Zi.

Dao Zi’s murderous aura was one of cold-bloodedness, yet Li Kandao’s killing intent resembled a raging fire, as though he had the intention to set the world ablaze.

Lin Huai halted; he didn’t expect to see such a powerful figure in a mere school. Even though Lin Huai had done some mental preparation before coming here, Li Kandao’s strength was still way beyond his expectations. Li Kandao would be the strongest figure Lin Huai had met ever since he first set foot in Tongcheng City. Even one of the followers of Wei Sihai, Li Tie, couldn’t be compared to him!

Li Kandao’s gaze fell upon Lin Huai as well. His gaze resembled a blazing blade; it was as though he wanted to devour Lin Huai whole. He didn’t enter the building but walked toward Lin Huai instead. Both of them seemed to have a magnetic field between them, as the aura that emanated from Lin Huai attracted Li Kandao as well.

Li Kandao’s aura got stronger and stronger; his body was overflowing with a deranged intention to fight and his eyes were almost ablaze. With a raspy voice that was thrilled with excitement, he asked, “Who are you?”

“Computer science major, Lin Huai.”

“Great! With such a new student like you in the computer science major, I’m pretty sure your existence would cause a headache to Mr. Hu.” Li Kandao croaked with excitement as a weird-sounding yet bone-chilling heavy breath bubbled up from his throat. “You are worthy to be my opponent!”

Li Kandao was overflowing with fighting intention, whereas Lin Huai took it lightly instead. He simply smiled and uttered, “No problem, I’ll wait for you!”

Lin Huai turned and walked away with the others after finishing his sentence. Those people behind Lin Huai only let out a sigh of relief after having walked some distance away. Li Kandao didn’t even glance at them just now, but they had already broken out in cold sweat due to his mere presence; the terrifying feeling of suffocation had even made Wu Jun feel short of breath.

Pu Chengji wiped off those cold sweat as he asked, “Brother Huai, what do you think of Li Kandao’s strength?”

“Interesting,” Lin Huai smiled faintly as he said. “If it’s about natural talent, Dao Zi’s talent would not be necessarily weaker than him. However, Dao Zi is no match for him with his current level of fighting ability. Such a figure like Li Kandao was actually willing to become a Red Cane under Zhou Minghu, now that makes me wonder what kind of exceptional character is Zhou Minghu.”

Wu Jun and the others took on a ghastly expression once they heard Lin Huai speaking highly of Li Kandao’s ability. From their perspective, Dao Zi could be considered as the strongest Red Cane under Lin Huai, yet he was still no match for Lin Kandao; how could they even win this battle?

Lin Huai was undoubtedly stronger than Dao Zi, but no one could tell who was stronger between Lin Huai and Li Kandao; not to mention that other than Li Kandao, Zhou Minghu still had the Four Red Canes under him. Besides, Zhou Minghu was well known as a terrifying person.

After they turned into Lin Huai’s followers, they didn’t feel much pressure even if they were facing Zhang Chunlei. But now even after they had united the computer science major, they still felt suffocated having to go against the sports major.

Lin Huai glanced at them and gave a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry, I’m still able to fight against Li Kandao.”

Lin Huai words had undoubtedly lifted some weight off them, but the feeling of heaviness in their chest still remained.

“Oh, by the way, isn’t today the day Dao Zi would return?” Lin Huai laughed. “I wonder what a scene would it be if both of them met each other.”

Just as Lin Huai and others arrived at the entrance of the computer science major’s building, Dao Zi was already waiting there as expected. They had not met Dao Zi in only a few days yet his aura had also gotten stronger within such a short period. He walked briskly toward Lin Huai once he caught sight of him. He had a grim expression on his face as usual, but he bowed slightly as he said, “Brother Huai, I’ll be your follower from today onward.”

“Very well!” Lin Huai gave a pat on Dao Zi’s shoulder and smiled. “I will treat you to a delicious dinner tonight!”

It seems like I’ll have to take a day’s leave from Pu Yingxue. I should bring Dao Zi to celebrate tonight. It can be an opportunity for me to deepen the relationship with some of my main subordinates.

As for the rehearsal, I’ll just catch up with it next Monday.

Lin Huai greeted everyone, then asked Pu Chengji to invite the gang leaders from all the computer science major classes to the dinner tonight. He also reminded Pu Chengji to book a larger private dining room as he simultaneously took a few bills out and passed it to him as a deposit for the booking.

Zhuang Bifan, who was beside him, kept stressing that he wanted to treat everyone instead, so that Lin Huai wouldn’t need to spend any money. In this school, there were hardly any students from affluent families and most of them were from poorer families. Zhuang Bifan’s family condition was considered the best among them, therefore he wanted to take this chance to prove himself worthy. However, this was because he didn’t know anything about Lin Huai’s financial condition. Although Lin Huai couldn’t be considered as affluent, it would still be a simple matter for him to treat everyone in a restaurant.

Lin Huai rejected Zhuang Bifan’s offer and smiled as he said, “This meal should definitely be paid by me as I’m the Big Boss here. How could I let you pay for it?”

Zhuang Bifan didn’t insist anymore since Lin Huai refused his offer. He smiled obediently and answered, “Anything you say, Brother Huai.”

On this day, both Li Kandao and Dao Zi returned. Many people in the school heard this news, and when they realised that nothing happened for the day, they weren’t surprised. This was because most of them knew that although there had been some minor conflicts between the sports major and computer science major, Lin Huai and the sports major had reconciled, and they had agreed on a peace treaty. But of course, only a handful of people knew that a war was brewing between them, which would definitely explode sooner or later.

On the same night, Lin Huai brought along Dao Zi, Pu Chengji, the gang leaders of each class, as well as some people from his dormitory and headed toward a restaurant near the school. They settled down in a large private dining room for almost 20 people. Lin Huai ordered a table full of dishes, and the table, as well as the floor, were all filled with beer bottles.

Lin Huai was the first one to stand up to raise a toast as he announced, “Today, I want to congratulate the return of Dao Zi. Our computer science major has obtained yet another powerful figure!

No one would begrudge Dao Zi for his status; he held the position as the first ranked Red Cane even when he was Zhang Chunlei’s follower back then. He could intimidate the entire sports major just by himself. Who could do it to this extent other than Dao Zi?

Everyone raised their glass immediately and cheered loudly, “Congratulations, Dao Zi!”

“Congratulations to our Brother Huai for obtaining another powerful figure!”

Dao Zi raised his glass as well, but he had always been a quiet and reserved person, therefore he simply gulped down the alcohol in his glass and sat down again.

Lin Huai beamed. “Everyone, don’t hold back today Just drink and eat as much as you want, as long as all of you don’t cause trouble after this.”

“Haha, we wouldn’t cause any trouble, Brother Huai.”

“That’s right! Brother Huai, you are underestimating our tolerance for alcohol.”

After three rounds of drinking, the leaders of each class threw looks at each other and stood up suddenly. Simultaneously, they slipped their hands into either their chest area or pockets.

The expression on Wu Jun’s face changed slightly as he stood up defensively. Dao Zi continued with his meal silently, whereas those people from Lin Huai’s dormitory tensed up at the situation. These gang leaders had not worked under Lin Huai for a long period of time, could it be that they intended to betray him?

Lin Huai smiled at the situation instead; just like Dao Zi, he didn’t even take what was happening seriously.

Sure enough, those gang leaders took out some banknotes from their pockets, and Wang Erdai, who was one of the burliest, as well as the strongest in terms of fighting, smiled a little foolishly as he said, “Brother Huai, you are the leader of our computer science major. Although you’ve never asked this from us, we should hand in 40% of the protection fees we have collected according to the rule, and only share the remainings between us and our subordinates. We have privately discussed this between us, and decided that the rules should be maintained. Therefore we have brought over this month’s portion of protection fees.”

Wu Jun and the others breathed a sigh of relief once they heard his words. Meanwhile, Dao Zi continued to eat with his head facing down as if he hadn’t heard anything. Lin Huai thought for a moment and subsequently nodded his head; he should indeed make some rules since he wanted to unite all the forces in Yulan College, otherwise, those underlings wouldn’t even hold any feelings of gratitude toward him; they probably wouldn’t even fear him.

Those people heaved a sigh of relief once Lin Hui nodded in agreement. Just as they were about to pass over the money delightfully, Lin Huai interrupted them as he uttered, “But I don’t think 40% is a good percentage.”

Those guys’ expressions changed slightly, and after a few moments, Wang Erdai finally responded, “It doesn’t matter, brother. It’s fine even if it’s 50%.”

Lin Huai shook his head and said, “I mean, I don’t need so much money. Each of you should just pass me a 30%, which is 10% less.”

Those guys were stunned for a moment; they expected Lin Huai to ask for more but he wanted less instead. Back then, they were only intimidated by Lin Huai’s strength and ability in fighting, but at this moment, a feeling of gratitude arose in them. All of them immediately responded one after another by expressing their gratitude. “Brother Huai, as long as you say the word, we wouldn’t hesitate to do anything for you!”

“Yes, yes. You are our best big brother!”

Those people pulled out a few notes, subsequently walked over and handed those notes to Lin Huai.

Meanwhile, in another restaurant, just when the sports majors were about to finish dinner, a knock could be heard and Zhou Minghu ordered in a deep voice, “Come in!”

His voice always sounded so deep, to the extent that it was frightening to hear.

The door creaked as it was pushed open. Zhou Minghu grinned subsequently; his expression was one that looked sinister, confident and excited, all combined in a smile. “Why are you here?”

“Mr. Hu, I’m here to work with you!” The person who came in turned out to be Xuan Yuzhai. He had restored his former self-confidence and calmness; he was still as polite as ever, as he said those words in a gentle tone.
