The Great Trump Card - Chapter 61

Wei Qimian looked around at her surroundings, blushed, and groaned. “Let go of my hand… People are going to see this.”

Lin Huai smiled and said, “So what if they see this? I don’t see any problem with that.”

Wei Qimian had no choice but to sit back down next to Lin Huai as she murmured about how he was a rascal.

Lin Huai smiled and said, “So what if I am a rascal? There is no advantage to being a nice person. It is the rascals that live a thousand years.”

“Actually, you are just pretending to be a rascal. In reality, you are a rather nice person.”

“Hey, can you not say that? Like I just said, nice people die young. Are you cursing me with an early death?”

Wei Qimian chuckled. “Oh right, the beautiful teacher is going to stay in our dormitory room from tonight onward. Our class teacher had just informed me. I realized that you are rather protective of beautiful girls. Therefore, are you interested in our beautiful teacher? Do you need me to put in a good word for you?” Wei Qimian probed although she was actually very nervous deep down inside.

Lin Huai stared passionately at Wei Qimian. With a slight smile, he said, “There is no need. I think you clearly know who I am interested in.”

Wei Qimian’s heart skipped a beat and from her eyes, she looked a little flustered. However, deep down in her heart, she was overjoyed. Thus, she kept quiet.

Lin Huai could not hold himself back anymore and was tempted to blurt out a confession of his feelings. He had completely pushed the rules and regulations of a bodyguard to the back of his mind. Suddenly, the atmosphere in the canteen changed. The entire canteen was silent and when Lin Huai turned his head around, he saw the few guys whom he had beaten up walk back into the canteen. There were also a few more people with him. The leader was a muscular guy with a lot of tattoos all over him. He was holding a baseball bat in his hands.

Lin Huai shook his head and said, “Does our college really not care about anything? Not even tattoos are prohibited?”

Wei Qimian’s gaze turned sorrowful and she sighed.

Lin Huai’s hand gently held onto Wei Qimian’s hand. With a gentle and tender voice, he said, “Don’t worry, I will help you change all of these.”

Wei Qimian was extremely touched. Her head instinctively jerked upward. She asked, “Are you doing all these for me?”

From the bottom of his heart, Lin Huai sincerely said, “Not only for you, but partly for you.”

After Wei Qimian heard that, she was even more touched. At the same time, she felt shy and ashamed for blurting out such a question. However, her feelings changed right after that and she became worried for Lin Huai. She recognized the guy that had just walked in. He was Li Guangzhi, the big boss of Li Ban, whom Lin Huai had just beaten up. Li Guangzhi was one of the four Yulan tigers, known as the ‘Furious Tiger’. Back then, even Zhang Chunlei did not dare to offend Li Guangzhi.

Li Guangzhi held a baseball bat in his hand and there were more than ten people behind him. This caught everybody’s attention. Li Guangzhi walked casually and stood next to Lin Huai. He used the baseball bat in his hand to knock on Lin Huai’s table. His face was ferocious like a beast, and the anger in his gaze was like an erupting volcano. A strong and powerful aura radiated from him. He enunciated, “How dare you beat up my henchmen?”

Purely based on his breathing, Lin Huai could feel that Li Guangzhi’s abilities far surpassed Li Ban’s. Among Lin Huai’s henchmen, other than Dao Zi, nobody else could fight Li Guangzhi. No wonder Li Guangzhi was one of the four Yulan tigers.

Lin Huai smiled and said, “Your henchman? I merely beat up a dog that was barking all over the place!”

Li Ban’s eyes were almost going to spray fire. Li Guangzhi’s eyes looked as if there was thunder and lightning flashing through them. On the other hand, Lin Huai was completely unaffected and had a smile on his face. He lowered his head to continue eating and did not even bother lifting his head to look at them. While he enjoyed the dishes, he turned toward Wei Qimian, smiled, and said, “Do you want me to feed you another two mouthfuls?”

Wei Qimian blushed. What a naughty rascal. Even during a time like this, you have the audacity to flirt with me. I really don’t know what’s in your mind.

Li Guangzhi was extremely furious and his eyes turned red as if they were going to spit fire. From his point of view, Lin Huai was treating him with extreme contempt.

Li Guangzhi tightened his grip on the baseball bat in his hands. He had long thrown Zhou Minghu’s instructions out of the window.

Lin Huai kept his head down and picked at the dishes with his chopsticks. He had long felt the ferocious intent looming above him. It was ferocious intent and not a murderous intent. Li Guangzhi did not have the level of courage to murder someone. However, the ferocious intent was enough proof that Li Guangzhi was a ruthless person that dared to fight, challenge, and lay hands on other people. In fact, he was about to make a move.

Lin Huai still did not lift his head. He was waiting for an opportunity to wage war on the ‘Furious Tiger’ of the four Yulan Tigers. He did not want to start a full fledged war against the sports major yet. However, he did want to thrash ‘Furious Tiger’ in an attempt to thoroughly destroy the fear that the computer science major students had for the sports major.

Although the computer science students had beaten Li Ban up, Li Ban’s status was not high enough. Therefore, it was insufficient.

Li Guangzhi took a deep breath, gritted his teeth, and said, “You are looking for death!”

He flexed all the muscles on his arm and raised the baseball bat. Just as he was about to smash it down, Zhang Hongdi suddenly walked into the canteen. With a grin, he said, “Oh, second brother, what are you chatting with Lin Huai about?”

Li Guangzhi turned his head around and frowned upon seeing that it was Zhang Hongdi, the ‘Intelligent Tiger’, also the big brother of the four Yulan tigers. Li Guangzhi frowned momentarily and said, “These computer science major people beat up Li Ban, my follower. How can we, the sports major, get bullied by them?”

As Li Guangzhi spoke, he scanned his surroundings swiftly with a fierce gaze. That swift and fierce gaze stuck fear into the hearts of all the computer science major students.

By then, the canteen was already dead silent. Zhang Hongdi walked over. With a smile on his face, he said, “Brother Huai, this is the fault of your people. Didn’t both our majors come to an agreement that we were going to stay clear of each other? Why did you suddenly lay a hand on our people without any prior notice?”

Zhang Hongdi was an extremely difficult person to handle. Although he was a thug, he could actually reason with logic.

Lin Huai lifted his head and smiled slightly, saying, “This follower of yours, Li Ban, does not understand the hierarchy among us. Because he was being disrespectful to me, I thought that he needed to be taught a lesson. Thus, I helped to educate him on your behalf.”

Li Guangzhi was going to explode with anger but Zhang Hongdi voiced out first. He said, “I think you educated him well, I also feel that he needed to be taught a lesson. Brother Huai, you are a big boss of the same status as Mr. Hu in this college. Therefore, as a follower of his status, he is not even qualified to speak to you, let alone disrespect you. How dare he be presumptuous in front of you. It’s true that he deserved to be taught a lesson.”

Lin Huai smiled and said, “No big deal. Now that it is in the past, I would not hold grudges.”

Lin Huai’s plan of making an example out of Li Guangzhi was foiled. Li Guangzhi was going to make a move but after the short speech by Zhang Hongdi, he actually managed to suppress his anger and controlled himself. Lin Huai decided to be even more vigilant of Zhang Hongdi. Zhang Hongdi was in for the long run. And although he was constantly smiling and looked harmless, the reality was that he was a lot more dangerous than Zhang Chunlei and Li Guangzhi—who stood before him with ferocious intent.

Zhang Hongdi placed his arm around Li Guangzhi’s shoulders and said with a grin, “Brother, let’s go. Brother Huai, we will make a move first.”

“Sure.” Lin Huai nodded slightly.

Once Zhang Hongdi and Li Guangzhi left the canteen, everybody in the canteen stared at Lin Huai with respect and awe. Lin Huai had actually managed the fiery aura of the Yulan Tigers. It was the first time they had heard of the Yulan Tigers admitting their mistake and being on the losing end.

Lin Huai, on the other hand, did not feel like anything was special. He put down his chopsticks, smiled and said, “Let’s go out and take a walk.”

“Alright.” Wei Qimian stood up too.

As Lin Huai passed by each dining table, the students seated on that table would stand up to show their respect for him. That was a treatment that only Zhou Minghu received but after today’s incident, Lin Huai’s reputation had truly grown. He was no longer only well known in the computer science major. Instead, he was now known throughout the entire college. From now on, even Gao Mengchao and Wu Shanhe had to take Lin Huai seriously.

Lin Huai felt a lot better. Although he didn’t physically take action to teach the ‘Furious Tiger’ a lesson, the results appeared to be not too bad…

Once they left the canteen, Lin Huai asked, “How’s the situation with Dao Zi?”

“He will be out tomorrow,” Wei Qimian smiled and said. “What’s important is that the parties involved are not pressing charges. In addition to that, my father pulled strings through his connections. Thus, he will be released.”

Lin Huai smiled and said, “That’s great. I shall arrange a welcome home party for him tomorrow!”

Wei Qimian smiled and said, “Did you purposely want to infuriate Li Guangzhi just now?

“Yes.” Lin Huai did not deny anything. “There will be a fight between the sports major and I sooner or later, and I prefer sooner rather than later. Ideally, it will happen before the annual gala.”

Wei Qimian was surprised and she asked, “Why choose for it to happen before the annual gala?”

Lin Huai smiled and said, “That’s because I want to give the entire college a big surprise. However, the four Yulan Tigers are a lot more powerful than I thought. They are actually able to control themselves and wait.”

Wei Qimian exclaimed, “Normally, the four Yulan Tigers would not tolerate such behaviors. Now that they are actually controlling themselves and laying low, I think it proves that they are even more dangerous than previously thought.”

Lin Huai snapped his fingers and complimented her, “Mianmian, not only are you beautiful, but you are also smart and cute. What should I do?”

Wei Qimian asked, “What do you mean by that?”

“I have fallen in love with you. I would feel very uncomfortable if I didn’t confess to you. So what should I do?”

Wei Qimian chuckled and said, “Suppress the discomfort!”

“Damn! You are so cruel! Beautiful on the outside, yet malicious like a snake on the inside. You must be a femme fatale.”

Wei Qimian chuckled and said, “I have never met anyone that praises like you do. Anyway, I am done talking with you. I want to head back to my dormitory now…”

“Why are you going back in the afternoon? Come keep me company and take a walk around the campus.”

“I can’t. I have to go back and tidy up for Teacher Pu Yingxue. She would be coming later in the afternoon. While I’m at it, I will see if she lacks anything. If she does, I will go shopping with her.”

“Oh alright. Then I shall not take up your time and delay you. Let me walk you there.”

“It’s okay, you return to your dormitory and take a rest. Take an afternoon nap. You still have lessons later in the afternoon.”

“Have you forgotten my real identity? I am your bodyguard, so I cannot constantly think of going to class and fighting. I cannot put the cart before the horse and forget my priorities.”

Wei Qimian chuckled and said, “I have never seen a bodyguard like you that has a side hustle of taking over the college.”

Lin Huai smiled and asked, “You do not wish it?”

“How could I?” Wei Qimian said. Then, she thought to herself, “Don’t you think I know that everything you do is partially for my sake?”

Wei Qimian was not wrong. As Lin Huai’s relationship with Wei Qimian deepened, the more Lin Huai wanted to conquer and unite all the forces in the college within the next two months. He also wanted to change the atmosphere of the college and considered it a big farewell gift to Wei Qimian to mark the end of his mission.
