The Great Trump Card - Chapter 53

As the three of them exited the classroom, the teacher that went for a smoking break returned. He was astonished and his eyes popped when he saw how quiet the entire class was. What happened here? When did the classroom discipline become so good?”

Wu Mengjie whispered, “Brother Huai, were you really going to slice his hand off?”

Lin Huai said softly, “It was just to scare him off. Did you think that I was so daring as to not fear prison time? These third year students were hard to crack. If you were not ruthless enough, they would not obey you.”

Wu Mengjie heaved a sigh of relief and wiped his sweat off. “Brother Huai, you are ruthless enough. When all of them stood up, my legs turned soft.”

Wu Mengjie looked at Wu Jun and asked, “Were you the same?”

Wu Jun said coldly, “I was nervous too, but the worst that could happen was that we got beaten up. It’s not like they would kill us.”

Lin Huai smiled and said, “Let’s go, this is only the first class. There are another three more classes to visit!”

Wu Mengjie’s expression turned sour although deep down, he was slightly excited. Wu Jun’s eyes, on the other hand, were completely filled with excitement.

The four of them swept the entire third year cohort within a short span of time. Lin Huai repeated the process in every class. He requested that the teacher leave. Then, with some form of violence, the third year students had no choice but to yield to him. In between that, two more students were sent to the infirmary.

After they settled the third year cohort, Lin Huai went to see the students of the final year cohort. He did not expect that the final year students were easier to deal with than the third year students. Lin Huai managed to resolve everything without taking any violent action. He only utilized his negotiation and persuasion skills. As he came out of the classes, Wu Mengjie explained to him that since these final year students were going to graduate soon, they were more inclined to obey the rules. After all, they were going to start on their internship soon and would no longer be around campus. Therefore, a fight was not worth losing their graduation certificate over. That was why the final year students tend to be more rule-abiding instead.

By the time Lin Huai had taken care of all three cohorts, a large portion of the lesson period was over. The three of them then casually returned to the ground floor. Lin Huai looked at Wu Mengjie and Wu Jun and said, “The both of you may pay a visit to the other three classes in our cohort. From today onward, the two of you are considered my right hand man. Of course, Dao Zi is also included. Although I have a couple of followers right now, none of them are as capable as you two at fighting. Pu Chengji is quick on his feet and can offer ideas. Zhuang Bifan is very good at socializing and building rapport with other people. Wang Hongwei is considered my lucky star. Thus, when it comes to actual fighting prowess, only Dao Zi and the two of you meet the standard.”

Wu Mengjie’s eyes lit up. He asked, “So the three of us are considered your red poles?”

Lin Huai smiled and said, “I am not forming a gang, so why would there be red poles? However, if you really have to make classifications, Dao Zi definitely falls under the red pole category, and the two of you barely miss the cut. Pu Chengji would make do as a white paper fan. Although Zhuang Bifan is good at socializing, he is still a distance from an actual straw sandal.”

“Oh.” Wu Mengjie sounded a little disappointed.

Wu Jun, on the other hand, was motivated and said confidently, “Eventually I will become a qualified red pole.”

Lin Huai smiled and said, “Good luck and work hard for it. I will head back to class for now, and leave the rest to you two.”

Lin Huai returned to the classroom and knocked on the door. The teacher saw him and immediately allowed Lin Huai to return to his seat. Now, all the teachers of this class were very grateful to Lin Huai. The teachers used to come to class only as a perfunctory courtesy because most of the students were rowdy and only a small percentage were actually listening. Furthermore, the students who wanted to learn could not hear the teacher clearly over the noises of the class. Everything changed with Lin Huai’s arrival.

Wei Qimian whispered and asked, “What were you up to?”

Lin Huai grinned and said, “You will find out soon enough.”

“Why are you so mysterious?” Wei Qimian snorted and rolled her eyes at Lin Huai.

Soon, the morning class ended. Wei Qimian, Zhou Yuanyuan, Song Tingting, and Lin Huai gathered together. As they were about to leave the building, the few of them heard two subject teachers from the senior cohorts speaking to each other. They said, “You know what, I taught two classes in the morning and the entire class was completely quiet. A few of the students even started paying attention.”

“No way, that’s impossible. Were you hallucinating?”

“Why is it impossible? I heard that this was all thanks to Lin Huai’s effort. He spent the morning visiting every class from from the ground floor till the third floor. He set ground rules for all the students—from the freshman cohort to the final year cohort—of the computer science major to adhere to.”

“Now that you mention it, I have previously heard rumours that Lin Huai was a gang leader and up to no good. Now that I look at it, if he’s considered a gang leader, then I rather the college have more gang leaders like him.”

“Exactly. He is actually a proper model student!”

Wei Qimian smiled and looked at Lin Huai. She laughed softly and said, “Now, I have finally figured out how you spent your morning. Why did you not tell me earlier? You did a good deed and didn’t leave your name behind.”

Lin Huai smiled and replied, “It’s nothing, it was practically effortless.”

Wei Qimian smiled and said, “What do you mean by it’s nothing? Can’t you see how appreciative the teachers are?”

Lin Huai smiled and kept quiet. Deep down, he was smug and proud about it. However, he purposely put on a nonchalant front. That’s right, I have to put on a display of maturity, and the demeanor of a gentleman.

Zhou Yuanyuan gasped in admiration and whispered, “Mianmian, you have such good taste.”

“What do you mean?” Wei Qimian blushed and acted coy. “I am just friends with him.”

Song Tingting’s eyes popped out and she exclaimed, “Oh my, what did I hear? Yuanyuan never mentioned that there was anything going on between Brother Huai and you. Did you just expose your own feelings? People used to say that girls become dumb when they are in love. Now I believe that’s the truth.”

Wei Qimian playfully punched Song Tingting and then stared at Lin Huai and said, “Why are you laughing?”

Lin Huai immediately put on a solemn look and said, “I am not laughing at anything.”

“Hmmp!” Wei Qimian snorted.

The few of them arrived at the canteen and went in to order some food. They all sat down around a table and were joined by a couple of Lin Huai’s roommates. They joined their tables and had lunch together.

Suddenly Song Tingting lifted her head and said, “Brother Huai.”

“Yes?”

“I apologize for treating you unjustly before this.”

Lin Huai did not expect Song Tingting to be such a straight shooter when apologizing to him. He thought the previous incident would be forgotten over time. In the very least, he thought that if she was going to apologize, she would have found somewhere secluded to do so. This behavior of Song Tingting left a favorable impression on Lin Huai.

Lin Huai smiled and said, “It’s okay. Everybody misunderstood me too. At least you confronted and reprimanded me instead of talking behind my back. You are a straightforward person, and I fancy that.”

Song Tingting said seriously, “Don’t fall in love with me. You are the boyfriend of my close sister and I will not snatch her boyfriend.”

A few of the people eating there burst into laughter. Lin Huai also chuckled and said, “Alright, don’t worry, I won’t.”

After Song Tingting’s apology, the ambience among those present improved. They also joked and made fun of each other. Wu Mengjie smiled and said, “Since you don’t want to fight over Brother Huai, why not fight over me? I am still single!”

Song Tingting proudly said, “Let’s see about that.”

Everyone laughed.

All of a sudden, the entire canteen became extremely quiet. Naturally, Lin Huai and the rest looked at the entrance and saw a girl in black clothing walk in. The girl looked tall and slender, radiated an ice-cold aura, and was cool and elegant. She was like an ice queen.

She wore heels. The clicking sound of her heels as they came into contact with the ground made everyone shudder.

Lin Huai was taken aback. Even though this girl was not as beautiful as Wei Qimian, based on her outward appearance, she looked cool and elegant, and that was unique. This unique vibe was tempting to many guys and had a special allure.

However, only Lin Huai knew that girls like these were like roses with thorns. If you tried to hug them, you would probably end up hurting yourself.

Soon after, Liu Meiqi also walked in from outside. There was another girl by Liu Meiqi’s side. The girl was around 1.6 meters tall, yet looked like she weighed around a hundred and ninety pounds. Generally, she looked like a round ball and even her facial features were all squished together. Lin Huai had never seen such a fat girl in his life. He had only seen people like that on the television, or in newspapers, but never in real life. When she walked and her feet landed on the ground, there was a loud thumping sound.

Lin Huai’s eyes popped out. He asked with shock, “Isn’t that way too fat?”

Pu Chengji hurriedly covered Lin Huai’s mouth and winked at him. He whispered, “Brother Huai, don’t talk nonsense! That is Wu Chunli, Miss Gao’s number one red pole.”

Lin Huai was bewildered. Red pole? Such a fat person is a red pole?

If she was the number one red pole, that must mean that the girl walking in front of her and Liu Meiqi must be Gao Mengchao. Gao Mengchao, who has equal status as the other two leaders of this college—Zhou Minghu and Wu Shanhe—of the sports and business major respectively?

No wonder I’ve heard rumors of Miss Gao being a pretty girl. True enough, she was a beautiful girl, comparable to Liu Meiqi in terms of standard.

Everyone in the canteen put down their chopsticks and fixed their eyes on Gao Mengchao, Wu Chunli, and Liu Meiqi. As expected, Gao Mengchao did not order food. Instead, she walked toward a table where a few tall and sturdy guys from the sports major were seated.

She stopped there and it could be seen that the few guys were very nervous. One of the guys—who had hair like David Beckham—stood up and had no choice but to offer her an apologetic smile. He said, “Miss Gao, we are all followers of Brother Chen Gang, may I enquire of your wishes?”

Lin Huai thought silently, “Chen Gang?” Could it be Chen Gang, the perverted tiger, one of the four tigers of Yulan College, and underling of Zhou Minghu? Wang Hongwei had mentioned that Chen Gang was extremely perverted. However, no matter what, as one of the four tigers of Yulan College, he had to be pretty capable.

Everyone held their breaths and waited for Gao Mengchao’s reaction.

Gao Mengchao kept the icy-cold expression on her face and said sternly, “Are you using Chen Gang to pressure me?”

The guy with the David Beckham hair said nervously, “No way, I would never dare to do that. I am Wang Zishan, and I have no idea how I have offended you, Miss Gao. Or did one of my brothers offend you? If so, I would like to apologize to you.”

Gao Mengchao said coldly, “There is no need to apologize to me. If an apology is useful, then what’s the point of having police in our society?”

Wang Zishan’s expression changed and before he could react, Gao Mengchao grabbed his head and pinned it onto the table. Gao Mengchao then picked a vinegar bottle off the table and smashed it onto his head. With a loud bang, the bottle broke and split into smaller pieces. Blood gushed out of Wang Zishan’s head and flowed down his forehead.

Wang Zishan roared in anger and struggled to break free. Yet, Gao Mengchao maintained her grip on his hair and continuously smashed his face onto the table four times. By then, there was blood all over Wang Zishan’s face and he looked like he had lost consciousness. Soon, he slumped onto the ground.

Everyone in the canteen held their breath and dared not breathe. Even Lin Huai’s eyes lit up. This chick is really ferocious!
