The Great Trump Card - Chapter 51

With a serious voice, Wei Sihai said, “Mr. Lin, everyone has the right to an education. I am sorry but I have no way to revoke the rights of that student.”

Lin Huai took a deep breath and felt like something was amiss.

Wei Sihai added, “However, I have instructed the principal to talk to the student. I can assure you there will be no drug trafficking within the college.”

“Okay!” Lin Huai replied unhappily. He also said sarcastically, “So be it then. Mr. Wei, I can tell that you have done well with the management of the college founded by your dead wife.”

Lin Huai hung up the phone and saw that Wei Qimian stared at him with a weird look. Lin Huai exhaled and forced a smile on his. He said, “Nothing much.”

“You are lying to me. My father said that he cannot be expelled?” Wei Qimian asked.

“Yup.” Lin Huai nodded solemnly. He was tempted to let Wei Qimian know that something was up with his father. However, he could not bring himself to tell her that.

Wei Qimian frowned and sighed. “Why is that so? It’s not difficult to expel a student like that. I will talk to my father again later.”

“It’s okay, there is no need for that.” Lin Huai’s gaze turned sharp and he smiled. “There is a lot going on behind the scenes in this college!”

Lin Huai stretched and placed his hands into his pocket. He smiled lazily and said, “Come, let’s head to class!”

Wei Qimian followed behind Lin Huai and thought of Lin Huai’s final sentence. He probably meant what he said. What did he mean by that? A horrific thought crossed Wei Qimian’s mind but she quickly dismissed it. There was no way her father was involved. Her father was a well known business man and most definitely wanted the college to turn out great. It was impossible that he would wish for any misfortune to occur within the college. Apart from the relationship he possibly had with the college, there was no benefit to be gained from ruining the college.

What exactly was going on…

Lin Huai and Wei Qimian returned to their classroom. The first two periods were computer science related classes, whereas the third period was a music class. Seeing that it was time for class to start, it was surprising that Hu Zhiqiang suddenly walked into the classroom. The bell rang and everyone returned to their seats. Upon seeing that Hu Zhiqiang was the one in charge of today’s class, all the energetic and rowdy male students suddenly turned quiet. Their heads drooped down and they looked like deflated balloons.

Hu Zhiqiang stood on the podium and glanced at Lin Huai. He recalled the first day Lin Huai arrived at the college. He had urged Lin Huai to stay safe and graduate from the college in one piece, as that in its own was deemed a great feat. He completely did not expect this new transfer student to partake in so many astonishing feats within such a short period of time. Now, the entire computer science major students treated Lin Huai like an idol.

Hu Zhiqiang stopped staring at Lin Huai and looked at the entire class. He said, “Today’s lesson will be turned into a self study period. Your music teacher is unavailable today due to personal reasons. She is on leave and resting at home.”

Pu Yingxue was injured, and after that shocking incident, she was probably not going to recover any time soon. Everyone could understand her predicament.

Hu Zhiqiang said, “Alright, read and study on your own. You are not allowed to move around freely nor talk loudly. No, begin your self study period.”

Hu Zhiqiang only said that as a formality. He knew that it was impossible for any single class in Yulan College to be quiet.

To his surprise, as soon as he finished talking, the students either read their books or lay on the table to nap. None of them smoked or caused a commotion; nor were they rowdy. Hu Zhiqiang’s eyes popped out and he immediately turned to look at Lin Huai. Suddenly, he recalled that tutors of other subjects had mentioned this to him. From the looks of it, it was real. Lin Huai brought such a big change to the class.

Hu Zhiqiang was deep in thought. At one point, he even felt a sliver of gratefulness toward Lin Huai. Although Lin Huai was not exactly a model student, if all the students in college were like him… never mind that. If that was the case, the entire college would be a mess and everything would be upside down.

Hu Zhiqiang planned to casually look at the teaching materials when all of a sudden, someone knocked on the door. Hu Zhiqiang looked at the entrance and said, “Come in!”

The door was pushed open and there was the sound of high heels clicking against the floor. Pu Yingxue walked in through the door.

All the students in the class lifted their heads and looked in her direction. All the guys in the class were agitated yet excited to see her.

Pu Yingxue smiled and said, “I am here to teach them.”

Hu Zhiqiang was shocked. “Didn’t I ask you to stay at home and rest? Why are you still here?”

Pu Yingxue smiled and said, “It’s okay, I still wish to teach them.”

“Well…” Hu Zhiqiang sighed. “Alright then, I will head back to the office for now.”

“Okay, thank you, Teacher Hu.”

Pu Yingxue walked onto the podium and replaced teacher Hu Zhiqiang’s place. Wei Qimian, the class monitor shouted a command and all the students stood up and greeted her. This time around, their greetings were much louder than they ever were. Even after all the students took their seats, Lin Huai was still standing up.

Pu Yingxue looked at Lin Huai and asked, “Lin Huai, do you have something to say?”

Wei Qimian also turned around and looked at Lin Huai. Everyone’s gaze was on Lin Huai too.

Lin Huai had a lump in his throat. If Pu Yingxue’s sudden change of behavior was due to Lin Huai, then Lin Huai’s huge commotion this time around was also due to Pu Yingxue. With a serious look on his face, he bowed to Pu Yingxue. He also said in a loud voice, “Teacher Pu Yingxue, thank you!”

Pu Yingxue was surprised. “What are you thanking me for?”

“Thank you for not giving up on us.” Lin Huai’s eyes teared up. “I know how it feels like to be alone among a group of people that don’t understand your actions. Back then, you were so helpless and you faced so much ridicule. I also know how helpless you felt when numerous students disrespected you.”

Pu Yingxue smiled and said, “I should be the one thanking you. At the end of the day, it was because of you that things have changed. Otherwise, I was powerless…” Pu Yingxue sighed.

Lin Huai said, “I was inspired by you. Only then did I have the courage to make such a move. If not for you, I might have closed one eye toward all of these. Even though I could not stand it back then, I had the intention of avoiding trouble if I could. I was only focused on my studies… However, upon seeing what you did for us, Teacher Pu Yingxue, it brought out the anger and dissatisfaction that was buried deep in my heart. Teacher Pu Yingxue, thank you.”

Pu Yingxue rubbed her eyes and pouted. “I thought I was useless.”

“How could that be?”

Teacher Pu Yingxue was on the verge of bursting into tears. All the students were stunned and felt the urge to protect and take care of her. Although Pu Yingxue was their teacher, she was actually not much older than her students. Furthermore, she was the type of gentle and innocent girl that would capture male attention. She also just started working and her character was still like a little girl. Because of that, girls like these were at a huge disadvantage when they started working because they were easily bullied by the students. However, other than the few rebellious guys that lashed out at her a few days ago because of the constraints on them, most of the other students did not bully her, but instead found her to be very likeable.

Wei Qimian whispered, “You are so capable that you even caused our teacher to tear up. Are you trying to get the teacher to repay you with her body?”

Lin Huai felt that Wei Qimian was jealous and deep down he was elated. He looked at Pu Yingxue and said loudly, “Teacher, I have said everything I wanted to say.”

“Alright, take a seat,” Pu Yingxue wiped her tears and gently said. “Let me announce something first. In another 15 days, it will be our college’s Annual Gala Evening. Each class has to come up with at least two programmes. This matter is my responsibility. Therefore, after class, anyone who is interested in contributing to the programme, look for the music class representative Niu Haijiao to submit your proposal.”

A student shouted, “Teacher, Niu Haijiao had transferred to another college!”

“Oh right, she transferred out.” Pu Yingxue hesitated. Then, she said, “Who wishes to be the new music class representative…”

Pu Chengji stood up right away. Pu Yingxue asked, “Do you want to be the representative?”

“No…” Pu Chengji smiled awkwardly and said. “Teacher, our Brother Huai transferred from a music college.”

“Oh right, how could I forget that.” Pu Yingxue realized that and smiled. “Then you can sit down. Lin Huai, you shall be the new music class representative. Once class is over, compile the list of programmes and submit it to me. Now that you are the representative, you should sign up for a performance as well.”

Lin Huai thought in his heart that he had no intention of being this representative. Furthermore, he would have to sign up for a performance and spend time on rehearsals. Where was he going to find time to protect Wei Qimian? However, now that things had progressed as such, Lin Huai couldn’t exactly disrespect the teacher like that in public. Therefore, Lin Huai stood up and nodded his head. He turned his head around and happened to see Pu Chengji winking at him. He understood that intelligent Pu Chengji was utilizing this opportunity to find Lin Huai an excuse to spend time alone with Pu Yingxue. Pu Chengji knew that Lin Huai and Wei Qimian were in a flirtatious relationship. However, Pu Chengji was a naughty girl, and Lin Huai liked that.

Lin Huai sat down and the class officially began. Since Lin Huai was now the representative, he participated more and asked questions. Pu Yingxue spent her time focused on Lin Huai. She realized that Lin Huai could answer all the music-related questions perfectly. She was surprised. And as time passed, she increasingly felt that it was the right choice to delegate Lin Huai as the class representative.

Once the class was over, Lin Huai walked up to the podium and loudly announced, “I am sure everyone heard what the teacher said just now. Therefore, whoever is interested in performing, submit the details of your performance to me so I can submit it.”

Lin Huai thought that everyone would be fighting over such an opportunity. Yet, to his surprise, everyone looked around them and nobody was willing to participate.

Wu Mengjie said, “Brother Huai, we are in the computer science major and not the music major. How many of us have talents like yours? I guess that since you are the representative, we could ask the most beautiful girl in our class to walk onstage like a model on a catwalk. That would definitely stun the audience!”

Wei Qimian turned around and glared at Wu Mengjie. “You want that, then you do it!”

In everyone’s eyes, Wei Qimian was already their leader’s girlfriend. Therefore, Wu Mengjie quickly shut his mouth.

Lin Huai laughed and said, “I don’t care. Everyone has to brainstorm and think of ideas, don’t put me in a tough spot. Before tonight and by the end of the school day, at least a few of you must come forward and submit a performance. As a side note, I am going to take a walk on the first floor.”

Wu Mengjie was shocked. “Big Boss, why do you want to head to the first floor?”

Wu Jun stood up right away and said, “Brother Huai, are we going to fight some people? Let me accompany you!”

Lin Huai gave them a bitter smile and said, “You think I am going to start fights every day? I am a cultured teenager, not some violent and aggressive thug. Everyone sit down and do whatever you please. I am only going upstairs for a walk and visit each and every class there.”

“Oh, okay,” Wu Mengjie stepped out and said. “Brother Huai, people of your status require at least two henchmen as company. Even if you are just going there for a chat, it would not be a deterrent. Therefore, let Brother Jun and I accompany you.”

“Alright then.” Lin Huai waved his arm. Then, he said, “Let’s head upstairs together and have a good chat with them. It’s time to set some ground rules for the entire computer science major. We can start with the sophomores.”
