Lin Huai sent Wei Qimian home. Then, he drove back to Li Qianqian’s house.
He walked into Li Qianqian’s bedroom and lay on the bed. A wide grin covered his face and he sighed in relief.
Li Qianqian lay on top of Lin Huai while her arms wriggled into his shirt. She ran her fingers gently across his chest and asked with a smile, “Is the misunderstanding resolved?”
“Yes, it is resolved.”
“Oh, I just thought of something. Wouldn’t Mianmian get suspicious if you drove my car around today?”
You think of this now? It’s too late. However, Lin Huai promised Mianmian that the secret was theirs. Thus, he smiled and replied, “Nope. Mianmian was traumatized today so her attention was limited. I also set Xuan Yuzhai up and foiled his plan. Not only did his scam fail, he also offended Young Master Wan.”
“Oh? What happened? Quick, tell me.”
Li Qianqian was excited.
Lin Huai narrated the entire day’s events for Li Qianqian’s benefit. After Li Qianqian heard the whole story, her eyes lit up and she looked at Lin Huai admiringly. “You are so smart. You planned the trap perfectly and they fell into it.”
“Haha, that’s the price they have to pay for setting me up. Furthermore, Mianmian is my charge and I have the responsibility to protect her.” Lin Huai conveyed the last sentence with a strong sense of responsibility and radiated with righteousness.
Li Qianqian smiled. “I think it’s more likely that you fell for our Miss Wei.”
“Why would you say that…”
“You have been giggling like a fool since you came back. Wasn’t that because you resolved the misunderstanding with her?” Li Qianqian smiled. “Although I’m inexperienced at relationships, as a female, I’m very sensitive about these things. You must have really fallen for our Miss Wei, way beyond a crush.”
“Oh.” All of a sudden, Lin Huai grabbed Li Qianqian’s slender waist and dragged her into his arms. He smiled cheekily. “So, make a wild guess about the feelings I have for you?”
“I don’t really care,” Li Qianqian said seriously. “We are close buddies, good friends, friends with benefits… But we should never get tangled up with feelings. Do you understand? I do not want you to fall for me.”
Lin Huai smiled bitterly and said, “But why? Am I not good looking enough?”
“Of course you are very handsome. However, I do not wish to be your secret lover or third-wheel. Furthermore, you are too young… I do not feel secure being with a young and handsome guy like you.”
Lin Huai sighed. He said, “Being young is a fault now?”
“Aren’t things great the way they are right now? Unless you don’t think so,” Li Qianqian kissed Lin Huai gently on the lips and whispered. “Next weekend, we’ll spend some proper time together.”
“Alright…” Lin Huai smiled. “Don’t worry, I can afford to wait until your wounds heal fully. Anyway, I have a question for you.”
“Oh, what is it?”
Lin Huai took a deep breath and stared into Li Qianqian’s eyes. He wanted to notice even the slightest change in her gaze. “I was at the door of your apartment today and noticed someone spying on you from the house opposite. What kind of trouble are you in?”
“Someone was spying on me from the house opposite?” Li Qianqian’s expression changed and became solemn.
Lin Huai’s gaze sharpened and he no longer looked like his happy and giggly self. Instead, he became deadly like a sharp and unsheathed sword—ready to kill.
Lin Huai said, “If someone is threatening your safety, please let me know. I will settle the situation for you. Trust me, no one in this world can stop me when I’m focused on an opponent.”
“I believe you… but it’s okay.” Li Qianqian took a deep breath and calmed herself down. She flashed him a forced smile. “I don’t need you to be implicated in this matter. Just pretend not to know about this. After all, it was never a big deal. It is simply a small misunderstanding with somebody.”
“Somebody?” Lin Huai asked. “This person is pretty capable.”
Li Qianqian looked at Lin Huai with pitiful eyes and pleaded softly, “Promise me, don’t get involved, alright? Please?”
Lin Huai hesitated. Seeing the plea in Li Qianqian’s eyes, his heart eventually softened and he sighed. “You must also promise me to stay out of danger. If you face any problem, you must let me know. And if you don’t, in the very least, please tell your employer. Even if Wei Sihai is not the actual king of Tongcheng City, he at least has Tongcheng City under his control.”
“Alright, I promise you.” Li Qianqian cracked a bitter smile. “By the way, just ensure Miss Wei’s safety in the college. Don’t get involved in anything else. Two months will pass by very quickly.”
Lin Huai vividly remembered Li Qianqian mentioning this before. The first time she did, she was a lot more subtle. He couldn’t help but wonder if something was hidden beneath the surface-level chaos of the college.
However, Lin Huai knew that Li Qianqian would not answer his queries. In fact, they would only worry her. Thus, he said, “Alright, I promise.”

The next morning, Li Qianqian dropped Lin Huai off at the college before driving off to work alone.

It was Liu Meiqi. Lin Huai stood up and saw that she was dressed in her usual manner. She wore a crop top that made her look simultaneously youthful and sexy. The light makeup she had on highlighted her seductive lips, tempting Lin Huai to walk up and kiss her.
Lin Huai fought against his urges. One cannot give girls like these an opening—they might capitalize on the opportunity and go too far. If Lin Huai kissed her, she might just pin him down and ride him. I am a handsome guy that cannot be easily exploited by random girls. With a stern look, Lin Huai asked, “Yes, what do you want?”
Liu Meiqi chuckled. “Do you have to be so polite with me? It makes me sad. Am I not better looking than Niu Haijiao?” There was a look of grumble in her eyes.
Lin Huai felt his face turn cold. He was only putting up a front before but now he was really annoyed. Why would she bring this up?
Lin Huai answered with ice in his words, “I have no personal relationships with Niu Haijiao.”
“I know, I know. It was attempted rape.” Liu Meiqi pouted. “You rather stay away from me and lay your hands on her instead? How is she even my equal?”
“You are in fact superior to her. However, I did not lay my hands on her. Whatever you heard was a rumor.”
“Haha, only you can verify if it’s a rumor or not. You have no idea how quickly news of this incident spread across the college. My elder sister reminded me to stay away from you.”
“Your elder sister?” Lin Huai was clueless. He pressed on and asked, “Who is your elder sister?”
Liu Meiqi paused and covered her mouth. She chuckled. “Oh my, I did not expect this from you. The popular Brother Huai does not know my elder sister. She is Miss Gao, one of the three bigshots of our college. Only Zhou Minghu of the sports major and Zhou Shanhe of the business major are more popular than her. She is even above Zhang Chunlei of the second tier.”
“Oh, I am not interested,” Lin Huai replied casually. “They are just a bunch of college hooligans. None of my business. I will make a move now.”
Lin Huai walked toward the building where the classrooms were. However, he did not expect Liu Meiqi to come along. She walked beside him and said, “You make it seem like you’re not also a hooligan. Everyone knows that you are the new hooligan from the computer science major. You are giving even Zhang Chunlei a headache.”
“Haha, those are just rumours. I do not get into fights or host gang fights. I respect the teachers, cooperate with other students, and help my classmates. I am also a good student who is motivated to learn, study well and carry my weight in class. In conclusion, I am a true model student and all those things you just said has nothing to do with me.”
Liu Meiqi chuckled and said, “Fine, fine, you win. However, dating young doesn’t count, right?”
Lin Huai was exasperated. “Are you trying to pester me into going for a date with you again? Like I said, I am not interested in you. I am only interested in your body.”
Liu Meiqi’s face turned bright red. She said, “How could you say such impolite and unethical things out loud?”
Lin Huai replied with a righteous tone, “Which one of us has no moral ethics? What is wrong with having friends with benefits? Since young, my family has always taught me to love myself and I cannot stand how cheap you are making yourself out to be.”
Liu Meiqi almost fainted. She felt like every encounter with Lin Huai was contemptuous.
She stomped her feet, turned around, and walked away. However, she took only two steps before turning around to face him. Then, she smiled seductively and leaned forward, saying. “You almost tricked me. I’m annoying you and you want me to leave. That’s why you behaved like a playboy to piss me off.”
Lin Huai was shocked. This alluring devil actually saw through his plan. Liu Meiqi got half of it right. It was true that Lin Huai did not want to be pestered by her. He was also a good judge of character and could tell that Liu Meiqi was going to be a difficult person to deal with. Furthermore, he couldn’t beat a girl up like what he did to Zhang Chunyu. Thus, he had no choice but to scare her away.
Of course, Lin Huai would welcome a one-night stand with Liu Meiqi. After all, she would not mind and there were no strings attached. They would have fun and enjoy the pleasure and be done with it. As Liu Meiqi happily narrated her thoughts, she heard a loud voice, shouting, “Lin Huai, what are you doing? Let’s go!”
Liu Meiqi’s eyes widened in surprise. She did not dare to believe what she saw. Wei Qimian was waving at Lin Huai!
