The Great Trump Card - Chapter 15

Lin Huai lay on the bed while hearing the sound of the door knocking, and he asked, “Who caused this trouble?”

Wang Hongwei’s facial expression changed. He stuttered, “I … I don’t know.”

Although Wang Hongwei did not say it, everyone could tell that the people outside came here for him. Otherwise, he would not be so afraid.

With a loud thump, the door was kicked open. Zhang Jindong and four other men rushed in. Their gazes were fixated onto Wang Hongwei. He said in a deep voice, “You brat, how dare you eavesdrop on our conversation. Brother Di asked me to bring you to him.”

Zhang Jindong was the troublemaker of the sports major. The “Brother Di” he had mention should also be from the sports major, and his forces didn’t seem to be small.

Wang Hongwei was trembling with fear. His face turned pale, and his lips turned purple. He said in a trembling voice, “I won’t go, I won’t go… Brother Dong, please let me go. I really did not hear your conversation. I really just passed by.”

“Bullsh*t!” Zhang Jindong gave a slap to Wang Hongwei’s face. Wang Hongwei cried after being slapped once.

When facing a situation like this, Wu Jun already pretended that this matter had no relation with him at all. Zhuang Bifan and Fan Hanning both lowered their head very obediently. As for Zhuang Bifan, he could only show off in front of normal students because he always gives Zhang Chunyu some money out of respect, and had the protection of Zhang Chunyu. If he were to encounter someone like Zhang Jindong, he would become very obedient. As for Fan Hanning, he has no other special abilities except to scheme on others.

The only person that could intervene in this matter was only Wu Mengjie who was under Zhang Chunyu. Wu Mengjie smiled apologetically and said, “Brother Dong, what caused you to become so angry? Our computer science major students are all under Second Lei. It seems quite impolite to Second Lei for you to just barge in like this. Do you want Second Lei to come and have a chat with you?”

“Ask your Second Lei to piss off!” Zhang Jindong gave Wu Mengjie a slap on the face. The slap was very loud. Wu Mengjie was dumbstruck for a while after being hit. He raised his fist, and put it down very quickly.

“What? You want to fight me?” Zhang Jindong said in disdain, “Don’t take that goddamn Second Lei to scare me. He got beaten up by a new student in such a dejected state. When I think of him, I start to get angry.”

After Lin Huai beaten up Zhang Jindong, he originally wanted to ask Second Lei to look for Lin Huai’s trouble. However, Second Lei did not do anything to Lin Huai, but instead allowed Lin Huai to gain popularity in the computer science major after being beaten up by him. Zhang Jindong got angry while thinking about this.

Wang Mengjie’s facial expression turned sour. However, he knew that Zhang Jindong’s position was higher than Second Lei’s. Only Big Lei could possibly pressure Zhang Jindong if he came personally. Because of that, he could only remain silent while lowering his head.

Zhang Jindong grabbed onto Wang Hongwei’s hair, and dragged him outside. He scolded, “You can really run very fast. You made me run to the computer science’s dorm area to come and catch you. See how I’ll take care of you after we go back.”

Wang Hongwei desperately struggled and begged for forgiveness. When he was going to be brought outside, Lin Huai who originally wanted to see which roommate had a backbone was forced to handle it himself.

Lin Huai’s face was helpless. He gave out a sigh, and said, “Dongzi, let him go.”

Dongzi? How many people in the school dares to call him that? Zhang Jindong thought.

Though he wanted to rage, but as he saw who was lying on the bed, his whole body shivered. His facial expression was very unsightly. He said awkwardly, “It’s… it’s you?”

Lin Huai’s tone was peaceful, “Call me Brother Huai.”

“Brother Huai…”

“Ai!” Lin Huai responded, and asked, “Since you already know that I’m Brother Huai, then faster let go Brother Huai’s underling. Do you still want to experience the feeling of getting beaten up?”

Zhang Jindong’s face was very awkward. Wang Hongwei had indeed heard some information he was not supposed to hear. Zhang Jindong originally wanted to bring Wang Hongwei back and fiercely teach him a lesson, and let Wang Hongwei learn from the lesson. He also wanted to ask him to keep it a secret. However, he had never thought that Wang Hongwei would be Lin Huai’s underling. Now that Lin Huai had stuck up, he didn’t know whether to let go or to not let go. He was like someone riding on a tiger’s back [1].

Lin Huai smiled and said, “If you force me to take action, then this matter won’t be that simple anymore.”

As Zhang Jindong was hesitating, Wang Hongwei suddenly cried out and shouted, “I didn’t hear anything. I promise that I won’t simply say anything. Brother Dong, please let me off the bat. Let Brother Di also let me off the bat. My mouth will definitely be shut. Please just treat me like a fart and let me go.”

Seeing Wang Hongwei’s cowardly appearance, Zhang Jindong let out a sigh, and threatened him with a deep voice. “Remember what you said. If I hear anything about it outside, then I will chop off your pair of hands.”

Wang Hongwei was so scared that his expression was filled with fear. He immediately nodded his head.

Zhang Jindong then smiled apologetically, “Brother Huai, if we had knew beforehand that this is your dorm, then we wouldn’t have came here to take him away. This is a misunderstanding, so uh… can I go now?”

The things that had happened on the basketball court had already left a trauma for Zhang Jindong. Adding the fact that Zhang Chunyu was fiercely punished by Lin Huai on how to become a decent human being. Because of that, Zhang Jindong felt fear when he was facing Lin Huai.

Of course, it was also because his boss Zhang Hongdi had told him before to not get into conflict with Lin Huai as of now. He wanted to let Lin Huai and Zhang Chunlei to fight with each other first. They would then act as the fishermen watching the sandpiper and the clam fight with each other [2].

Lin Huai agreed, and said softly, “Leave!”

Zhang Jindong gave out a sigh. Before he left, he said, “Brother Huai, our Brother Di had heard about what you had done, and really admires you. He is willing to become friends with you.”

“I get it. Leave now.”

Zhang Jindong complied, nodded his head and bowed his waist. He then brought all his underlings away and left.

After Zhang Jindong left, Fan Hanning and the others all looked at Lin Huai in admiration. They never thought that Zhang Jindong would be that afraid of Lin Huai. From Zhang Jindong’s words, Brother Di also wanted to become friends with Lin Huai. They knew what kind of existence Brother Di was in school.”

“Why are you all looking at me?” Lin Huai was a little pissed, “They are humans, and you guys are humans too. On what basis do they dare to come and take someone away, and yet you all don’t dare to drive them out? They had five people, and you all had five people as well. Are you guys afraid that you guys won’t be able to defeat them?”

Fan Hanning said embarrassingly, “Brother Huai, they’re students of the sports major. They train everyday, and their bodies are very strong. It wouldn’t be a problem for them to fight two people at once.”

Lin Huai turned over his body, and said, “If you guys are such losers, then I won’t bother to intervene in your matters in the future. Go to sleep.”

Everyone else’s faces in the room were filled with helplessness as they went back to their bed.

Around one o’clock in the morning, Lin Huai woke up to take a piss. When he came down from the bed, he realised that there was movement beside him. Wang Hongwei was crying while he was hiding under his blanket. Even his head was under it.

Lin Huai suddenly had an idea. He went and lightly pat on Wang Hongwei’s blanket. He waited for Wang Hongwei to wipe his tears and come out from his blanket, and hooked his fingers at him. He then walked out of the room’s door.

Wang Hongwei followed behind Lin Huai until they walked into a pantry with no one inside. Lin Huai then took out a cigarette and lit it up for himself. He then took one out and gave it to Wang Hongwei. Wang Hongwei contemplated for a while, took it and silently lit it up as well. After he took a drag off the cigarette once, he started to cough fiercely.

Lin Huai was a little speechless, “Do you not smoke usually?”

“I… I used to be a good student.”

Lin Huai said helplessly, “Since you don’t smoke, then there’s no need to smoke it anymore. Do you really have to smoke just because I passed you a cigarette? Can you not be so spineless?”

Wang Hongwei’s face was awkward. He threw the cigarette bud onto the ground.

Lin Huai asked, “Tell me about it. Why did Zhang Jindong come and find you today? Based on his words, you eavesdropped on their conversation?”

Wang Hongwei’s facial expression changed drastically, “I… I did not.”

When he was speaking, Wang Hongwei’s eyes were showing his terror.

Lin Huai naturally knew that he was lying. He smiled lightly and said, “You think I’ll believe it? If I guessed it correctly, it must be because you coincidentally eavesdropped about the conversation between Zhang Jindong and that Brother Di. They must have heard some movements, and decided to find out who was eavesdropping on them, but you had already escaped by then. However, even if the monk had ran away, the temple would still remain at the same place [3]. Am I right?”

Wang Hongwei’s facial expression turned blue, and his eyes were filled with horror. Lin Huai knew that he had guessed it correctly.

Lin Huai said calmly, “Do you think you can hide this kind of stuff away from me? Tell me about it. If it wasn’t anything important, you wouldn’t be so nervous. What bad things are those brats planning to do again?”

Wang Hongwei suddenly cried. He knelt on the ground, and cried bitterly while begging, “Brother Huai, I can’t say it. Brother Huai… You saved me this time, but if they knew that I revealed what they said, they would cripple me, Brother Huai.”

Lin Huai was a little speechless. He frowned and said, “Aren’t they just a bunch of bad students? What can they do to you? Would they really cripple you? At most, they would just beat you up. Do you think that if I didn’t save you today, you would be able to avoid a beating? Relax, if they come and find you again, I will still protect you. You just have to tell me what you heard.”

“No, you don’t understand them, and you don’t understand this matter as well… They will cripple me, and they will beat me to death…” As Wang Hongwei was talking, he used all his might and kept his kowtow [5]. His body was trembling all over as if he was going to piss in his pants.

Lin Huai frowned. From the looks of it, this matter isn’t so simple. But seeing how spineless this Wang Hongwei is, he would not dare to say it. My job is just to protect Wei Qimian. Other things have no relation with me at all. Lin Huai could only shrug his shoulders, and said helplessly, “Get up. I won’t ask anymore, ok?”

“Okay, okay.” Wang Hongwei climbed up from the ground in terror; he bowed and nodded his head while retreating from the pantry, “Brother Huai, I’ll go back first. I won’t interrupt you peeing, I won’t interrupt…”

As Wang Hongwei was talking, he was also walking out of the pantry. Soon, his silhouette had disappeared.

Lin Huai frowned, and touched his chin. He talked to himself, “What matter could scare him till this state? Xuan Yuzhai, Zhang Chunyu, Zhang Chunlei. Zhang Jindong, Brother Di… Interesting, this school is really not a normal school. I’m more and more involved with the shady background in school…”
