Thunder God shook his head and said, “I am afraid that’s not going to be possible.”
West Heavenly King’s face turned gloomy and he coldly said, “You are going overboard. I am merely incapacitating one of his arms and that by itself is a huge sign of respect to you. Yet, it looks like you aren’t planning to show me any sign of respect at all!”
Thunder God smiled and said, “How is he supposed to work for me if one of his arms were to be incapacitated? To be honest, he is someone that is valuable to me so you are not allowed to lay a hand on him. I admit that it’s a mistake that he beat up your son and I understand that based on the rules of the underworld, you are not going to let up so easily. However, your son is unharmed so why don’t you allow my man to apologize to your son and make a toast?”
West Heavenly King solemnly said “Just apologize and give a toast? You think that’s enough? Thunder God, I will not give in to you even if you are the North Heavenly King.”
Thunder God smiled and said, “How is this considered giving in to me? Alright, how about this? Haven’t you always wanted to gain a stake into the restaurant I have in Chengbei District? I will give you twenty percent of the shares out of the fifty percent that I currently own, how’s that?”
West Heavenly King’s eyes glistened and stared at Lin Huai in shock. He had not expected Lin Huai to be so important to Thunder God.
Liang Jingyu opposed, “Father, we don’t need that money! We have to protect our reputation!”
“Shut up!” West Heavenly King snapped. Although his father looked elegant, Liang Jingyu was still spooked after being reprimanded and he quietly shut his mouth up.
With a smile on his face, Thunder God looked at West Heavenly King, waiting for his response. West Heavenly King groaned and said, “Are you sure about this?”
Thunder God smiled, “Yes, I am sure. Do you have anything else you want?”
West Heavenly King’s face turned even gloomier but eventually said, “Fine, I will accept twenty percent of the shares. Your man must also apologize to my son and down a cup of alcohol as punishment.”
Thunder God looked at Lin Huai and said, “Lin Huai, it’s your turn to take action.”
Lin Huai smiled and nodded his head in agreement. He could tell that Thunder God was referring to the restaurant where he first met Thunder God. The restaurant was rather huge and twenty percent was definitely a huge loss to Thunder God. It would be too much if I refused to apologize and down a cup of alcohol after the huge loss incurred by Thunder God.
Lin Huai stood up and filled his cup to the brim with alcohol. He lifted the cup and exclaimed, “Brother Liang Jingyu, I would like to apologize for my actions last time and I am sorry for what I did to you. Here, I will down this entire cup of alcohol!”
After saying that, Lin Huai chugged the alcohol down in one go.
Liang Jingyu’s gaze was filled with hatred and it could be seen that he wanted to tear Lin Huai up into pieces. However, Lin Huai could not be bothered as there was no way they were ever going to look past this resentment and become friends anyway which was why his apology was all just for show.
Just as Lin Huai sat down, Liang Jing stood up but before he could say a word, West Heavenly King snapped, “Sit down!”
Liang Jingyu sat back down begrudgingly. Thunder God then laughed and said, “That’s right, we shouldn’t fight among ourselves. After all, we are a part of the underworld in Tongcheng City so we should treat each other with kindness. Here, let me propose a toast to you as well.”
This time around, West Heavenly King returned the respect shown and raised his cup. Lin Huai naturally followed along. Liang Jingyu on the other hand was still mad so he chose to keep quiet with his head down and refused to take a sip of alcohol. West Heavenly King was not bothered by his son’s reaction.
After everyone drank up and placed their glasses down on the table, West Heavenly King looked at Lin Huai curiously and said, “Tang Shi, seeing how valuable he is to you, I don’t think he is an ordinary henchman of yours.”
Thunder God smiled and said, “I am preparing to make him my Red Cane.”
“Oh?” West Heavenly King took a closer look at Lin Huai and said, “Are you sure? This young boy? I am afraid he won’t be a qualified Red Cane. Thunder God, don’t you have more talented people in Chengbei District?”
Just as Thunder God was about to defend Lin Huai, Lin Huai was a step quicker and he suddenly asked, “West Heavenly King, how do you determine if a person is qualified to be a Red Cane?”
West Heavenly King turned around and looked at three of his henchmen as he said, “These men are ordinary people within my gang. If you are able to defeat any one of them, you would barely make the cut as a Red Cane. After all, Tang Shi has always been proclaimed to be the emperor of Chengbei District so if his Red Cane was just a little boy, it would be extremely embarrassing!”
Lin Huai stood up in intention of accepting the challenge. However, Thunder God solemnly said, “Lin Huai, there is no need to accept his challenge!”
Thunder God could tell that the three of them were not ordinary gang members. Despite them not being at the level of a Red Cane, they were still elites from West Heavenly King’s gang. Although he heard rumours that Lin Huai was rather capable, he was not inclined towards accepting this challenge. After all, in the event that Lin Huai lost this fight, it would be extremely challenging to announce Lin Huai as a Red Cane as he would not be able to prove his qualifications to the men within his gang.
Lin Huai smiled and said, “I agree it is pointless to accept this challenge. After all, I have no idea who to pick if we were to fight 1 on 1. Therefore, why don’t the three of you come at me at the same time?”
Thunder God’s eyes popped out and West Heavenly King’s eyes glistened. He laughed and said, “Sure, sure, I admire courageous boys like you! Let the past stay in the past then. No matter what happens, I admire your attitude. The three of you! Hurry up and go over to challenge him. Don’t take it too seriously and endanger his life!”
West Heavenly King turned around and looked at his men; their expression immediately changed and turned cold. Thunder God frowned as he could tell West Heavenly King wanted to capitalize this opportunity to punish Lin Huai. However, he had no idea how severe this punishment would be. Would Lin Huai be beaten up or would he be incapacitated? Either way, there was no way he could find fault in that as it is not surprising for accidents to occur during a challenge as anything could happen.
Thunder God solemnly said, “Lin Huai, you are going up against three people at once. Give up if you can’t cope with that.”
Lin Huai smiled and said, “Don’t worry Big Boss Lei, I am confident.”
The three of them were elite among the ordinary population. They were not even at the Observable Energy Stage, so how could they possibly be a match for Lin Huai?
The three of them soon gathered around Lin Huai. Although the room was rather spacious, it did not mean that they could let loose as they were still within an enclosed space. However, the lack of space was a huge disadvantage for Lin Huai as it made it harder for him to dodge attacks.
The three of them clearly noticed that which was why they had a sly grin on their face as they gathered around Lin Huai. Then, the three of them rushed forward and attacked Lin Huai at the same time. Their punches were strong and were swiftly directed at Lin Huai.
Even Luo Xing who was standing behind Thunder God felt troubled. He knew that if any of the punches landed on Lin Huai, it would cause severe damage to him. If all three of their punches landed on Lin Huai’s body or head, Lin Huai’s life would be in danger. If he was lucky, he would barely survive and if he was not, he would be incapacitated.
Thunder God was furious. Their intention was to incapacitate Lin Huai!
However under such circumstances, he had no way of helping out. On one hand, he was mad that West Heavenly King took such extreme measures and on the other, he was furious that Lin Huai took things into his own hands.
The space in the room was limited and it was difficult to dodge and evade attacks. However, Lin Huai had no intentions of dodging at all, instead he dashed forward and faced the brunt of their punches. Just as the opponent’s fist was about to land on his face which would have knocked off two of his teeth, Lin Huai moved and the opponent’s fist grazed past his face. At the same time, the other two opponents also missed their punches.
Lin Huai then grabbed onto the collar of the man that leaped at him. He lifted him up and swung him towards the other two opponents.
Both of them were shocked and staggered backwards. Lin Huai then leaped forward and punched them twice in the face each which immediately knocked them out. To finish things up, Lin Huai threw the man in his arms onto the ground and stepped onto his neck.
In the blink of an eye, Lin Huai had defeated all three of his opponents. Everyone in the room was stunned while Thunder God cheered on. He applauded and laughed happily while saying, “That’s amazing, haha, good job!”
West Heavenly King’s face was gloomy first but soon after he smiled and applauded. “Not bad, not bad, you are powerful indeed. Congratulations, Brother Tang Shi, you have gotten yourself a very capable warrior.”
Lin Huai smiled and lifted his leg up. Although these three men were defeated by Lin Huai, they merely suffered minor injuries. As such, they got up quickly and returned back to their original position behind West Heavenly King looking ashamed.
Luo Xing casually said, “There is a lack of space in this room. As such if a person did not know how to exploit this opportunity, he would be in deep trouble once he is surrounded. However, for someone with great combat experience, they are able to transform this room into a perfect place to fight. Not bad, not bad.”
Luo Xing was right. The only reason Lin Huai defeated the three of them so quickly was due to the fact he turned the disadvantage of having a lack of space into an advantage and exploited it.
Lin Huai sat down and Thunder God gave an approving look at him. He complimented, “Not bad, not bad. You actually managed to defeat the three of them. Although they are ordinary gang members, it was still an admirable feat.”
West Heavenly King placed his chopsticks down and said, “Brother Tang Shi, thank you for your hospitality today. I would also like to congratulate you on your new warrior. I still have places to be at so I will make a move first.”
“Alright, sure.” Thunder God nodded his head while looking extremely proud and contended.
West Heavenly King snorted as he was obviously unhappy. However, he put on a front and acted politely and gracefully before leaving with his men.
After West Heavenly King left, Thunder God patted Lin Huai on the shoulders and said, “Haha, I feel so happy to see him in anger. Come, come, let’s eat up. Otherwise it would be a waste of my money considering how he is no longer going to be eating”
Lin Huai smiled and said, “I am going to dig in then.”
Lin Huai placed the food in his mouth and exclaimed, “Oh my, the food here is rather delicious.”
West Heavenly King left the restaurant with Liang Jingyu and his men and returned to their cars. Liang Jingyu was indignant and he said, “Father, are we just going to let him go just like that?”
West Heavenly King snorted and snapped. “Why are you always provoking people and bringing trouble upon yourself? You useless piece of sh*t! Do you have any idea why I promised to let him go? Do you really think that I am after the twenty percent stake of the restaurant? Tang Shi is willing to give up twenty percent of shares just like that and even organized such a banquet all because of that guy. From that, I understood the importance of that guy to Tang Shi. If we really went after the guy, it would mean that we are starting a full fledged war with Tang Shi! You dumba*s!”
Liang Jingyu kept quiet with his head down.
West Heavenly King had a gloomy look on his face and he coldly said, “However… Lin Huai is really a capable person. It’s hard to tell if he is qualified enough to be a Red Cane but he definitely isn’t weak. Now I know why Tang Shi thinks so highly of him. After all, he is still young and has a bright future ahead of him. Tang Shi is really blessed with lots of luck. Let’s return home!”
