They had a great meal together as they both pushed the unfortunate event that transpired recently to the back of their mind.
The next morning, Lin Huai planned to get up early and make breakfast but to his surprise, Li Liner got up even earlier. Although she looked like a weak lady, deep down she was very strong willed. Perhaps the incident that occurred to her sister caused a change in her personality but nonetheless Lin Huai’s heart ached whenever he looked at her.
After breakfast, Lin Huai was adamant to not let Li Liner do the dishes and instead push her over to the living room so she could rest. At first, he planned to send her to work but she insisted on heading there herself so he chose to respect her decision.
After Li Liner left, Lin Huai got a call from Thunder God. He answered the phone, “Hello, Big Boss Lei.”
“Hey, have you managed to resolve the issues within the college?”
“Yes, I have settled everything and I might also be bringing a group of students along with me to be your henchmen.”
“Great, sounds great. Haha, I will welcome you all with open arms.” Thunder God was expecting Lin Huai to take the initiative and make such offers.
If Lin Huai had gone over to Thunder God’s side just by himself, he would probably be put in an impotent position. As a matter of fact, Thunder God would probably have come up with ways to pester Lin Huai up to the point where he would be forced to bring along a group of people from Yulan College.
Lin Huai smiled and said, “I hope that Big Boss Lei is able to take good care of us in the future.”
“Your followers would still be under your command so you are the one in charge of taking good care of them. Don’t worry, I have decided that you will be given the status of a Red Cane.”
Lin Huai pretended to be shocked and said, “Big Boss Lei, are you serious? Won’t the rest of the guys in the gang be unhappy about this?”
Since the beginning, Lin Huai knew that he had the capabilities to be a Red Cane. However, being a Red Cane right from the get go might not be a good thing as it would most definitely cause a lot of people within the gang to be upset.
Thunder God smiled and asked, “Do you think that anybody dares to go against my orders? The only reason I have yet to make this announcement is because we still have something to resolve today. I will gather everyone tomorrow and make an announcement of your status as the new Red Cane.”
Lin Huai said, “Let’s make it the day after tomorrow. I have things to do tomorrow as I still have to gather a group of people that are willing to be my followers.”
“Haha, alright then, the day after tomorrow is fine.” Upon hearing what Lin Huai said, Thunder God was even more delighted and elated. “Where are you now? I will send someone over to pick you up in the afternoon. I have made reservations in a restaurant located in the city center. I have also invited the West Heavenly King over so that I could be the middleman to resolve the issues between you two.”
Lin Huai smiled and replied, “Alright, thank you for your kind offer. My address is…”
Lin Huai had no intentions of keeping his address a secret as he knew that Thunder God would eventually be able to figure it out anyway. Thus, Lin Huai decided to let him know right off the bat before hanging up on the phone.
Tonight was the night that he was going to first meet West Heavenly King. However, Lin Huai was not worried in the slightest about the outcome of tonight’s meeting. Thunder God was able to dominate Chengbei District for so many years which shows that he was a man that would be well prepared. He would not engage in any activities that he was unsure of so at the very least in terms of their safety, it would definitely not be an issue.
Lin Huai sent Li Liner a message to inform her that he would be eating out for dinner so there was no need to wait for him. Then, he relaxed for the rest of the day. In the evening, the doorbell rang which was within his expectation so he got up and opened the door. There was a man in a leather jacket who looked at Lin Huai before lowering his head and respectfully saying, “Brother Huai, Big Boss Lei sent me over to fetch you there.”
“Alright.” Lin Huai acknowledged and followed him to the car. The guy in the black leather suit took the lead and Lin Huai followed. Along the way, Lin Huai observed closely and noticed that the guy was rather powerful and in fact much stronger than Wei Sihai’s personal bodyguards. He is probably at the initial stage of Observable Energy.
Lin Huai withdrew his gaze and followed him into a car parked by the roadside. There was only one person in the car which was the driver. The guy in the black leather suit sat next to him.
The guy in the black leather suit faced the driver and instructed, “Let’s go.”
“Yes, Mr. Luo Xing.”
The car drove off and Lin Huai asked, “Your name is Luo Xing?”
“Yes.” Luo Xing nodded his head. He was not much of a talker.
Lin Huai continued asking, “Are you a Red Cane?”
Luo Xing shook his head and said, “I am Big Boss Lei’s personal bodyguard.”
“Oh, I haven’t seen you before.”
Luo Xing replied, “I was out on a mission.”
Upon bringing up the mission, a murderous aura exuded Luo Xing which sent a shiver down Lin Huai’s spine. The mission he was sent to execute was probably to murder someone.
Lin Huai asked, “How long have you been by Big Boss Lei’s side?”
In a cold voice, Luo Xing replied, “Six years. I stay by Big Boss Lei’s side and I am responsible for his personal safety. At the same time I will also clear up any obstacles in his life.”
Ah, as expected.
Lin Huai had a feeling that despite Luo Xing only being in the Observable Energy State, the power he displayed would be much stronger when killing someone. Although he might not be a natural killer like Dao Zi, he was most definitely a well-bred killer.
Lin Huai stopped asking more questions and Luo Xing remained silent for the rest of the way.
Chengbei District was quite a distance from the city center and after half an hour, they eventually arrived downtown at the bustling city center. The entire Tongcheng City was segregated into four different districts and the city center. All four districts were dominated by their respective leaders and the city center was the only exception whereby nobody dared to encroach the area.
The car stopped in front of an entrance of a magnificent restaurant and the both of them alighted. They walked into the restaurant and Luo Xing said, “Big Boss Lei already reserved a room and everyone should have arrived by now.”
Lin Huai nodded his head in acknowledgement.
Although Luo Xing remained silent and had a very cold personality, he was the perfect person to remain by Thunder God’s side at this point in time.
Both of them stopped in front of the room and Luo Xing knocked on the door while saying, “Big Brother, I have brought Lin Huai here with me.”
Thunder God’s full name was Tang Shi but most people had forgotten it and naturally addressed him as Thunder God.
With a creaking sound, the door of the room was opened by a man covered in a green dragon and a white tiger tattoo. The man respectfully addressed Luo Xing as his big brother and without a word, Luo Xing took huge strides into the room. Lin Huai followed suit.
By then, the room was filled with people standing around but there were only a couple of people seated along the huge table. The ones seated were Thunder God and Liang Jingyu who seated on the opposite side of Thunder God. There was also another elegant middle-aged man seated next to Liang Jingyu.
The middle-aged man looked very similar to Liang Jingyu but the vibe he gave off was scarier. He looked elegant but on a closer look he exuded an extremely horrifying vibe. He was clearly West Heavenly King which surprised Lin Huai as he had not expected him to be such an elegant looking middle-aged man.
There were six henchmen standing behind West Heavenly King and Thunder God respectively.
Upon Lin Huai’s entrance, Thunder God waved passionately at him and said, “Ah, you are here. Hurry up, come over and take a seat next to me.”
It could be seen that Thunder God had fully accepted Lin Huai into his gang and was evident that he wanted to protect and guarantee Lin Huai’s safety.
On the other hand, Liang Jingyu stood up and pointed at Lin Huai. He exclaimed in a loud voice, “It’s him! He’s the one that beat me up.”
Liang Jingyu still had multiple bruises on his face and looked extremely furious.
West Heavenly King casually said, “Sit down first.”
Although Liang Jingyu was extremely mad, he had no choice but sit back down angrily. Lin Huai smiled and took a seat next to Thunder God.
West Heavenly King was surprised that Lin Huai displayed no signs of fear. “Little fellow, you are a very brave man.”
“Well, it’s just that there are two big bosses present so there is no point worrying. I believe that the both of you are big shots in Tongcheng City and would resolve this issue impartially.”
West Heavenly King said, “As if there would be an impartial decision behind this. You beat my son up badly and based on the rules of the underworld, it means that you have just slapped me in the face. Even if I murder you and all of your family members, there is nothing wrong with that. What do you have to say about this, Tang Shi?”
West Heavenly King addressed Tang Shi by his full name in a rude manner.
Thunder God was not affected in the slightest by that and with a smile on his face, he said, “That is not necessary. They are just kids fooling around so as the big bosses, I don’t think we should interfere and stick our noses into their issues. Don’t you think so?”
West Heavenly King snorted and coldly said, “He is your henchmen and this is my son, are they even comparable?”
Thunder God scoffed and said, “Oh? Our brothers fight to the death with us and you think that they are not comparable with your son? Even if your son is a useless fool, you think that your henchmen are not worth as much as your son?”
Lin Huai was shocked. Thunder God looked tough and straightforward but his choice of words are so intelligent that it is able to forge a wedge between West Heavenly King and his men. How is West Heavenly King supposed to reply to this? Not to mention that there are a few henchmen standing right behind him and if word got out, wouldn’t his followers be bitterly disappointed by his behaviour?
West Heavenly King frowned and scoffed at Thunder God. “Tang Shi, it is pointless to try and forge a wedge between me and my men. This time around, your follower is not on the losing end of the situation. If the situation was reversed and my son had incapacitated your follower, would you be able to still calmly sit down and talk to me? No matter what, you have to provide me with an explanation. Otherwise, the same situation would occur again in the future, not only to my son but to someone else’s son. Tang Shi, do you think that you are the emperor of Tongcheng City?”
West Heavenly King went straight to the point and if Thunder God refused to apologize, it would mean that not only was he disrespecting West Heavenly King, he was also disrespecting the other leaders from the other districts.
Thunder God smiled and said, “Brother Liang, let’s not argue over this anymore. Why don’t you let me know what you have in mind and we shall see how we can go about it? The agenda of this meeting is to resolve the problem anyway thus we come with good faith.”
West Heavenly King glanced at Lin Huai and said, “That’s great. Since he’s your brother, I won’t take his life but instead I want you to surrender him over to me and I will send him back to you by tonight.”
Thunder God asked, “What’s your plan after I surrender him to you?”
West Heavenly King replied, “Since he is your follower, I will not take severe measures and will only impose a minor punishment onto him. I will incapacitate one of his arms which is a minor punishment, right?”
Incapacitating one arm isn’t severe? Lin Huai felt a shiver down his spine. These people from the underworld really have no qualms with taking someone’s life.
