Thunder God looked friendly but after Pu Yingxue’s incident, Lin Huai could tell that it was not the case. Thunder God, Tang Shi, had a rough appearance and looked friendly. However, deep down he was a cold and merciless person. He would do anything in order to achieve his goals.
Thunder God looked lovingly at Lin Huai as if Lin Huai was his own younger brother. Lin Huai pretended like he was troubled and said, “I might have offended somebody these few days. I am sure he would come and look for me these few days.”
“Offended somebody?” Thunder God laughed and said, “Within the entire Chengbei District, it doesn’t matter who you offended because I would be able to help you settle the problem.”
Lin Huai bitterly smiled and said, “That person doesn’t seem to be from the Chengbei District.”
Thunder God nonchalantly waved his hand and said, “Tell me about it. Who did you offend?”
Lin Huai looked at Thunder God and said, “Alright then. It’s West Heavenly King.”
“What?” Thunder God was shocked. He was puzzled and asked, “You are merely a student from Yulan College. Even if you were the Big Boss of the college, you wouldn’t have any interactions with the West Heavenly King. How did you manage to offend him?”
Thunder God meant that Lin Huai was not on the same level as West Heavenly King. It was not an easy feat even if Lin Huai wanted to get in touch with him. How could Lin Huai have offended him?
Lin Huai sighed and narrated the incidents that happened between him and Liang Jingyu. He added on, “The thing is, I really had no idea he was the son of West Heavenly King. Now that I have beaten him up, Liang Jingyu would definitely seek revenge. Thus, I might not be able to be your henchmen much longer. Big Boss Lei, I am the one that got myself into this trouble so I will resolve it on my own.”
Thunder God frowned and kept his head down, deep in thought. He strolled around the room with his arms behind his back, an uncertain look apparent on his face. He was debating between the option of siding with West Heavenly King or Lin Huai.
Lin Huai was waiting for his decision. If Thunder God chose not to offend West Heavenly King and stay out of this, he would not have the opportunity to go undercover. However, if Thunder God backed down, he would not have the qualifications to be the leader of Chengbei District. He would also not have the qualifications to make Lin Huai go undercover anymore. Instead, it would be a lot easier to deal with him.
Suddenly, Thunder God looked at Lin Huai and said, “West Heavenly King is not somebody to be messed with. However, this is Chengbei District and not a place for them to loiter around. Tell you what, I will ask West Heavenly King out for a meal in the next three days and I would bring you along with me for you all to reach a compromise. I will bring you along and ask him to bring his son. Since you are the one that escaped unharmed from the situation, you should apologize to him on that day and the problem should be resolved. How about that?”
Lin Huai then asked, “What if I apologize but they still refuse to forgive me?”
“Then we can just fight it out!” Thunder God snorted and scorned. “I don’t believe that he would dare to wage a war against me just because of his useless son.”
Lin Huai was shocked as he did not expect Thunder God to be so adamant about it. He wants me to apologize and it is completely normal. After all I was the one that beat Jingyu up. I cannot possibly ask them to apologize instead. Through this, Thunder God proved that he was able to back Lin Huai up. It did no matter whether he did that to buy Lin Huai over or it was for his own reputation. At the end of the day, it proved that Thunder God was an arrogant person and a tough nut to crack. Any ordinary person would have willingly chosen to be his loyal follower and treat him as a big boss after such an incident.
Lin Huai looked like he was touched and said, “Big Boss Lei, thank you so much.”
“Hahaha.” Thunder God looked extremely happy. He patted Lin Huai on the shoulders and with a smile said, “You are my little brother, of course I am going to look after you. You don’t have to thank me. Furthermore, I have been mingling about the underworld for so many years. Nothing scares me! Worst come to worst just fight to the end!”
Lin Huai was touched and said, “From today onwards, I am willing to do anything and serve you faithfully.”
Thunder God was pleased with Lin Huai’s reaction. He immediately ordered a plethora of dishes. As they were eating, Thunder God patted Lin Huai on the shoulder and emotionally said, “Lin Huai, do you have any idea why I think highly of you? To the point where I would even offend West Heavenly King?”
That’s because you know I am the person in control of the entire Yulan College. If I was not the one but Zhou Minghu instead, you would think as equally highly of him.
However Lin Huai pretended like he had no idea. He then acted like he was fearful and said, “I have no idea.”
Thunder God smiled and said, “Actually the logic behind it is simple. You are a talented person, a person that I would regret if I did not rope you in. Don’t have the misconception that having a lot of very capable henchmen was enough. It’s true that my Red Canes are all capable and willing to go through thick and thin with me. However, the underworld constantly requires the addition of young and capable people. That’s because they are more courageous in fighting, killing and taking risks. I have dominated the Chengbei District for many years yet I have not seen someone with a brighter future than you.”
Thunder God’s flattery would have worked on anyone and made them delighted. They would have felt like they had found someone that finally appreciated their talent. Although Lin Huai did not feel the same way, he put on a fake front and pretended to be emotional. “Big Boss Lei, since you think so highly of me, I will definitely follow your lead and be loyal to you.”
“Good, good! Haha, don’t worry, the future of Thunder Gang would be in your hands. However, you have to hone your skills with me for a few years first. Eventually, based on your capabilities, you will then have the opportunity to take over my place if you have manage to get more achievements.”
God damn it! I have yet to become your man and yet you make a promise so easily. I bet you say the same to everyone you rope in. I would never believe you.
At the right moments, Lin Huai pretended to be excited and subtly displayed his ambitions. He incoherently said, “Boss, thank-thank you for thinking highly of me.”
“No problem.” Thunder God nodded. He was very satisfied with Lin Huai’s reaction. In his eyes, even the henchmen that had been under him and mingling around the underworld for a few years would be extremely appreciative and grateful under such circumstances, let alone Lin Huai. Although he looked like a thug with bad temper, he was a very scheming person. He knew that he had to instil fear in his henchmen and at the same time make them feel appreciative for his efforts. Therefore, he used the same ploy to trick his men over the past few years. However, the same method could not have possibly worked on Lin Huai. He was a top notch bodyguard that had seen through far too many schemes in the society.
Thunder God seemed delighted over the successful ploy of buying Lin Huai over. He continually gave a toast and drank multiple cups of alcohol, to which Lin Huai accompanied him and did the same. By the time the meal was over, Thunder God smiled and said, “Do you want to follow me to have some fun later?”
Going back to those places again? I did not expect Thunder God to be such a perverted person. However, it would not be a good move to reject him now. Since I plan to be a core personnel in his gang, I have to mingle more with him.
As such, Lin Huai displayed a look of anticipation and cheekily said, “Sure. I will go wherever you go.”
“Hahaha, good, good. Let’s go! We can head over to the parlor first and get a shower.”
Lin Huai agreed and left the hotel together with Thunder God. Thunder God led the way while Lin Huai tailed behind him.
Thunder God’s car was a Mercedes-Benz. Being a big boss was different; he dined at high class restaurants and drove a luxurious car. When they got into the car, not only was there a driver, two of Thunder God’s henchmen took their seats as well. They served as his bodyguards.
Thunder God clutched onto Lin Huai’s shoulders. He smiled and said, “Let’s head to the massage parlor. I own certain shares there as well. There are beautiful ladies and we could have some fun and enjoy ourselves there.”
Lin Huai smiled and replied, “Okay boss. Whatever you say.”
Lin Huai had managed to engross himself completely into the role that he was playing.
