The next day, Lin Huai woke up early in the morning and sneaked out of bed to make breakfast for Li Qianqian. He had a light snack before leaving for college.
The get together party is tonight. On a side note, whenever Lin Huai thought of the incident that happened last night, he felt like laughing as Xuan Yuzhai was beaten up for no reason. Lin Huai had no idea what transpired after that but at the end of the day it had nothing to do with him. However, despite avoiding the fight last night, it proved that Liang Jingyu was in fact actively seeking revenge. He probably hates me even more after being played like a fiddle. Next time around, he would definitely come and look for me again. Xuan Yuzhai also recognized me and eventually I would not be able to escape from this.
However, Lin Huai had not planned on escaping. Since Thunder God has plans to rope me in now, he would have to help me fend off this issue. If he wants to make use of me, he would definitely not allow West Heavenly King to lay his hands on me.
Lin Huai arrived in college and upon meeting Wei Qimian, he briefly narrated the incident of how he laid his hands on Xuan Yuzhai yesterday. Wei Qimian was delighted to hear that.
A day of classes went by in a blink of an eye. Lin Huai and Wei Qimian chatted while walking out of the classroom. Song Tingting appeared from behind and with a smile, she said, “Both of you are going to perform together tonight. How are you guys feeling?”
Wei Qimian smiled. “Am I supposed to feel any different?”
Song Tingting stuck her tongue out and said, “Oh my, such a positive mindset. If it was me, the thought of performing in front of the entire college would make me a nervous wreck.”
Zhou Yuanyuan then walked over and said, “Tingting, let’s make a move. Don’t stay and become a third wheel.”
Usually, Zhou Yuanyuan was calm and collected thus Wei Qimian had not expected her to pop a joke. As such, she groaned and said, “Yuanyuan, why are you acting like this?”
Both Zhou Yuanyuan and Song Tingting burst out laughing.
Lin Huai smiled and said, “Don’t worry, it doesn’t bother us. After all, we have already disclosed our relationship to the public so we won’t mind even if there are other people around us.”
As he said that, he grabbed onto Wei Qimian’s hand. However, Wei Qimian scrambled away and retaliated, “Who said that I have disclosed our relationship to the public? I never agreed to be your girlfriend. Gosh, I am not going to talk to you anymore. Yuanyuan, Tingting, let’s go. Stay away from this pervert.”
Wei Qimian then ran off. Song Tingting chuckled and said, “Mianmian is embarrassed. Brother Huai, you have to keep it up and I am sure you would succeed eventually.”
Lin Huai grinned and said, “I feel the same as well.”
“Then we shall go after Mianmian. Haha, good luck, we got your back!”
After they ran off, Lin Huai turned around and waved at Pu Chengji who was giving orders to a few of his henchmen. He saw Lin Huai gesturing him to come over so he immediately ran with a smile and said, “Brother Huai, what’s up?”
“How’s the progress for the mission delegated to you?”
Pu Chengji smiled and said, “Don’t worry, everything is settled. You can just wait for the show to begin tonight.”
“Alright.” Lin Huai let out a sly grin.
Pu Chengji winked and said, “I wish you all the best tonight.”
“Of course.”
“Do you need me to help you book a hotel room in advance?”
Lin Huai was left speechless. He kicked Pu Chengji’s buttock and jokingly scolded, “Get lost!”
After having dinner at the canteen, Lin Huai arrived rather early at the field. All the students had gotten the chairs ready and the field was already packed with half of the student population. Lin Huai and Wei Qimian were then summoned to the backstage along with the other performers. Pu Yingxue was cheering them on and supporting them from the side.
Ultimately Pu Yingxue faced Lin Huai and Wei Qimian and said, “I am certain your performance will be the main event, just don’t be nervous when you are on stage.”
“Alright, don’t worry.” Lin Huai smiled in agreement.
“Ah right, you are the big boss of the college. Why would you be spooked by a simple occasion? My bad.” Pu Yingxue shifted her gaze towards Wei Qimian and smiled. “After tonight, I would be leaving the dormitory and heading back home.”
Wei Qimian walked over and clutched onto Pu Yingxue’s arm as she reluctantly said, “Teacher, you can continue to stay in our dormitory; there is a space reserved for you. Why are you in a rush to return home?”
Pu Yingxue smiled and said, “Eventually I would have to return home. I get homesick as well.”
“Alright then…” Wei Qimian paused for a moment before saying, “Teacher, feel free to come and stay in the dormitory whenever you want. The bed you are currently sleeping in is going to be vacant anyway. There aren’t any freshmen at the moment so we would keep the bed sheet and blankets for you.”
Pu Yingxue smiled and said, “Alright. I definitely had fun hanging out with you all as well. I would miss you all as well. Don’t worry, we could still see each other on a daily basis in college so it’s no big deal.”
Lin Huai looked on from the side and could tell that the both of them got along well which was not exactly surprising. Despite Wei Qimian coming from a wealthy family, she was not arrogant and never boasted. Pu Yingxue on the other hand also never misused and showed off her status as a teacher.
It was about time for the party to begin so the host went on stage and made the announcement about the programme schedule for tonight. All of the students enjoyed the performances. Due to the importance of Lin Huai’s performance as well as the special status Lin Huai had in college, his performance with Wei Qimian was the finale.
In the meantime, Lin Huai and Wei Qimian found a spot to sit and watch the performances. The shows went on and Lin Huai actively commented, “Oh, this song is not bad. Ah, this girl looks really beautiful. Oh my, Mianmian, why are you pinching me?”
In the blink of an eye, the first half was over and it was time for Liu Meiqi’s performance—belly dancing. When she walked onto the stage, even Lin Huai’s heart skipped a beat. Her figure was so enchanting and the look in her eyes was extremely seductive. As she gently swayed her body, even a guy with no romantic interest would have sensual thoughts about her.
The people surrounding Lin Huai had the same comments. They all said, “So beautiful.”
“So pretty.”
“Yes, she is so beautiful.”
“Absolutely stunning.”
Even Wei Qimian could not help but murmur to herself, “Liu Meiqi is so beautiful and her belly dance was also one of the finest I’ve ever seen. Lin Huai, she had constantly been pursuing after you so do you regret not accepting her now?”
Lin Huai’s eyes popped out and he quickly said, “No, that’s not true! In my eyes, nobody can be prettier than my Mianmian.”
Although Wei Qimian was delighted, she said, “All you do is flatter me. Why should I believe you?”
Lin Huai grinned and said, “My Mianmian, you are my baby and my goddess. Since the first day I met you, there was no longer any more space in my heart for anybody else.”
Wei Qimian smiled before glaring at him and saying, “If that’s the case, why are you still staring at her so intently without blinking?”
“Err… I am purely enjoying the beauty of the dance. Just like a piece of art; I am only admiring the belly dance itself and nothing else.”
“Fine, I forgive you…”
As Liu Meiqi was dancing on stage, everyone below was screaming and whistling wildly. Many of them were chanting Liu Meiqi’s name but Liu Meiqi was indifferent to all of it as her glance was focused on Lin Huai. Deep down, she was secretly joyous. He is looking at me, he is looking at me. It proves that he does like me, or at the very least, is interested in me. Gosh, this annoying person. I have to get him to become my boyfriend.
After Liu Meiqi’s performance, everyone was still frantically screaming. The crowd went wild. Her performance was definitely the most popular one.
Performances continued on after but the crowd was not as excited in comparison to Liu Meiqi’s appearance. The get together party was coming to an end so Lin Huai and Wei Qimian rushed backstage to get ready.
Eventually it was Lin Huai and Wei Qimian’s turn. The host on stage said, “Next up is the finale act for tonight. The performers are Lin Huai and Wei Qimian from the computer science major of Yulan College.”
The crowd went wild in an instant and everyone was screaming madly. Lin Huai looked at Wei Qimian with a smile and said, “Mianmian, you are so popular.”
Wei Qimian smiled back and said, “Forget it. More like it’s because of you, the big boss of this college.”
“Haha, it’s not because of me. It’s mainly because my Mianmian is too charismatic.”
Pu Yingxue, who was watching from the sides, was a little jealous. She reminded them, “Stop flirting with each other, quickly get on stage.”
“Oh, okay.”
When Lin Huai and Wei Qimian got on stage, the screaming and shouting got even louder.
The music started playing. The song was ‘Lovers in Heaven’ sung by the idol, Wang Jiarui. The lyrics of the song narrated a very romantic love story.
Both of them started swaying to the beat of the music and everyone held onto their breath. If Liu Meiqi’s belly dance was stunning, Lin Huai and Wei Qimian’s was elegant. Extremely elegant.
Everyone was unable to take their eyes off them. They kept quiet, afraid to disturb the absolutely elegant performance.
Pu Yingxue couldn’t take her eyes off as well. As expected of Lin Huai from a musical academy. Be it music or dancing, he is close to the level of a professional. In fact, Wei Qimian had tremendous talent in both dancing and singing. She had also been through professional classes since she was young. However, during this exceptional performance, Lin Huai was actually the one taking the lead. Despite that, he managed to attain the perfect balance whereby he would not outshine Wei Qimian but rather try and complement each other.
Pu Chengji murmured, “This is so amazing. Our big boss is such a god. Not only is he capable in fighting but also exceptionally good in dancing and singing?”
A few of the girls clutched onto their chests and their eyes sparkled with joy. They said, “Oh my, oh my, I cannot take this anymore. I am falling in love with him.”
Eventually when it came to vocals and Wei Qimian began singing, everyone cheered on and gave her a round of applause. However, when Lin Huai began singing, they were shocked and stared tongue-tied at him. This is already at a professional level!
“Why is it so difficult to love somebody?”
“Push through all the difficulties and obstacles, I will be with you no matter what.”
“Being in love with somebody is like willingly seeking destruction onto oneself…”
The beautiful lyrics came out of their mouth and everyone was engrossed in their performance.
When the song came to an end, the crowd fell silent. Right after that, a huge round of applause was given and everyone was cheering in excitement.
Wei Qimian blushed but at the same time was excited. She looked at Lin Huai happily and said, “It seems like our performance was a success. Shall we get off stage now?”
“In a little while.” Lin Huai grinned and said, “I still have a surprise for you!”
