The Grand Prince Has Run Away - Chapter 19

Translator: Kim | Editor: Darling

By the time when the sky was aglow with a sunset, Katrianne with her embarrassed face was walking down the hallway. Since she murdered the guy called Yan, Princess Ignes got mad and refused to meet her. Katrianne was in serious trouble because her relationship with Princess Ignes went down the pan. In fact, they needed to deal with an important task soon and Princess Ignes was supposed to take a guide role for her.

Since Katrianne lived in Kronos, the Sky City for a long time, she knew little of this world.

‘Such a stupid kid. He should’ve come out of that toilet when I said so.’

In fact, Katrianne thought he would give up and come out of the toilet at the last moment because he was a swordsman at the master level. Thus, he would’ve surely felt the mana power of ‘Descent of Fire Dragon’.

However, he was so stubborn as a mule and died unnecessarily. It was such a nonsensical consequence indeed.

Once Katrianne arrived at Princess Ignes’ office, she stared shortly at the coat of arms of the Church of Light engraved on the door. Then she took a deep breath and knocked on the door carefully. Not long after, she could hear Princess Ignes’ voice from inside.

“Please come in.”

Katrianne opened the door gently and shook her hand towards Princess Ignes through a chink in the door.

“It’s me~ Can I really come in?”

“Yes ma’am. Please.”

Finally, she was allowed to come in so she immediately went inside. Then she slowly walked towards Princess Ignes who was checking documents in silence.

“What documents are those?”

“Ma’am, the Great Duke Carl’s family has contacted us. The Great Duke himself would visit here soon and want to ask how and why Grand Prince Yan got murdered. He asks us to explain the whole story in great detail.”

Katrianne smoothed down her face. She already had so many things to do and also she’s got an important task to take care of. Yet from the beginning, she murdered the son of the Great Duke Carl who was one of the most powerful people in the human world. So, she’s definitely in trouble now.

If the Grand Duke had a grudge against her due to Yan’s death and avenged her in secret, there would be a huge setback in her plan.

“Ah~ really? Did they get angry a lot?”

“No ma’am, not really.”

“What? They aren’t very angry?”

“Actually, there are only a few sentences about the Grand Prince Yan and the rest of them are questions about you, ma’am.”

“About me? Why?”

“They obviously want to know whether you are on the side of the Power of Light or the Power of Darkness, ma’am. During the incident which happened yesterday, you have revealed the fact that you’re the Great Saintess of Flame. This is a very important issue in terms of both politics and religions in the human world. Anyhow, it is the first descent of the Great Saintess since the birth of human civilization. You did a good job, ma’am. You’re supposed to hide your presence here but now everyone knows who you are. What were you thinking, ma’am? Phew~”

Princess Ignes was definitely being sarcastic in her last sentence. Valkyries were not supposed to get involved in matters happening in this world and should not reveal their true identity as well. Fortunately, the fact she’s Valkyrie was not a big issue but anyways she would surely encounter many obstacles from now on.

As if she got embarrassed, Katrianne avoided Princess Ignes’s eyes.

“Yet, they’re not very angry. That’s a good thing. The Grand Duke Carl is surely the Iron Chancellor. Even though his son’s got murdered, he’s still calm.”

“Ma’am, do you really think so?”

Quickly, Katrianne stared at Princess Ignes.

“What’s up? Is there something else you want to tell me?”

“No ma’am. It’s just… what Grand Prince Yan told me before he left weighs on my mind.”

“What did he tell you?”

“He said even if he died, there’s no one who could sing a requiem for him.”

A requiem was sung for the dead by those people who’re alive and heartrending. Therefore, it meant that even if Yan died, no one would be in sorrow.

“So?”

“In fact, it seems that Grand Duke Carl secretly wanted to bequeath his title to Yosef who is a half brother of Grand Prince Yan.”

Katrianne shut her eyes tight.

“I should’ve not used ‘Descent of Fire Dragon’ at that moment.”

“No ma’am. I think you did a good job.”

Katrianne leered at Princess Ignes who kept being sarcastic. When Katrianne came to celebrate Princess Ignes becoming the Great Saintess of Light yesterday, Princess Ignes was so pissed off because Katrianne murdered Yan. But now, Princess Ignes was talking very differently.

“Are you being sarcastic?”

“No ma’am. I mean it.”

“You were sulking because I killed Yan, weren’t you?”

“Yes, I was, ma’am. But after thinking it over a lot, I believe he’s still alive. Grand Prince Yan would not die because of such a mere trifle.”

What Princess Ignes had just said actually hurt Katrianne’s pride quite a bit because that mere trifle meant Katrianne herself.

“Hey, you. What is that supposed to mean?”

“No offense, ma’am. I just trust the ability of Grand Prince Yan.”

“What kind of ability?”

“His ability as a great prophet, ma’am. He foresaw that I would become a Great Saintess.”

Katrianne heard that story before but she couldn’t believe it because there could not exist such a thing like a great prophet chosen by God. If God was that generous enough to communicate directly with humans, he would’ve not sent Valkyries like her into this world.

“That is just a coincidence. He just said it because he wanted to take you as his hostage without your resistance. Even we Valkyries don’t know the future. Of course, a few of us can foresee the future in a very simple and vague way but not in great detail like that.”

“That’s what I thought, ma’am. But I was wrong.”

“Do you have proof?”

“Vermont, the Soul Destruction Pendulum of the God of the Earth, has chosen its owner in the late afternoon, ma’am.”

Katrianne was so shocked and made a dumbfounded face.

“No… no way. Is it really Princess Sierra?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“It can’t be…!”

“Then why don’t you go ahead and check by yourself, ma’am?”

It’s such an unbelievable incident. If it’s really true, it was almost certain that Yan was a great prophet chosen by God.

After the Seven Sacred Weapons had been enshrined in the Hall of Divinity, no human was chosen by them for thousands of years. However, two of the Seven Sacred Weapons had chosen their owners this time and Yan got both of them right. Without an ability of prophecy, it could never happen. Certainly, Katrianne was devastated.

“Then, did I really murder a great prophet who was chosen by God?”

“No, ma’am. He’s not dead. Why would someone who could see the future go to a place where he would get murdered?”

“No, you must be wrong. In that circumstance, nobody could’ve survived. The restroom was totally confined. How could he escape from there?”

Clicking her tongue, Princess Ignes stood up from her desk and brought a blueprint.

“Please take a look, ma’am”

“What is it?”

“It is the blueprint of the outside restroom in the Temple of Goddess of Purity, ma’am. Can you see a small path next to the restroom?”

Katrianne nodded her head back and forth. Next to the toilet, there was a small hole that one person could barely go through.

“Yes. I can see it.”

“I asked a construction expert, ma’am. He told me they usually made a passage through which water could drain into a culvert in the center of the city in case of flooding due to heavy rain.”

“Then he escaped through that way? No way.”

“I think he did, ma’am.”

Katrianne seemed still distrustful and kept shaking her head.

“No way. I checked he’s dead for sure.”

“Did you really see him dead with your own eyes, ma’am?”

Actually, Katrianne didn’t see it with her own eyes. She stayed far away from the toilet because Yan kept pouring shitty water to her.

“No, I didn’t. But I felt it through mana.”

Princess Ignes lifted one side of her lips.

“Just as expected.”

“What do you mean?”

“During the investigation today ma’am, they’ve found roadside trees near the Temple of Purity were chopped off by the Aura Blade. Of course, parts of those trees had disappeared as well.”

“Then maybe?”

“Yes, ma’am. He probably used the Assassin Skill.”

Katrianne smoothed down her face. With a certain type of Assassin Skills, it was possible to infuse mana into a dead animal or tree to disguise it as a human. Then, even those who could detect mana were not able to chase after a fugitive. Under those circumstances, Yan probably infused mana into a piece of wood while hiding his own mana and ran away through the culvert.

No wonder he could run away so well. Fast-Running skill was also included in the Assassin Skills.

It was a huge humiliation for Katrianne. Once other Valkyries found out she was ridiculed by a human, they would make fun of her forever.

“That little sneaky piece of shit!”

“He got you for sure, ma’am.”

With her stinging eyes, Katrianne scowled at Princess Ignes.

“By the way, you did quite a lot of research, didn’t you?”

Princess Ignes calmly opened her eyes.

“I have strange feelings.”

“What’s strange?”

“Fear and horror about the future was inside his heart, ma’am.”

Katrianne didn’t even snort. Yan was not even scared of a Valkyrie herself.

“Aren’t you deluding yourself right now? To my eyes, he didn’t seem like that kind of a person at all.”

“No, ma’am. I certainly felt that fear and horror inside his heart. Otherwise, he would’ve not asked me a favor to sing a requiem before he left. Usually in his age, no one talks about death. Instead, they dream about the future.”

“But he was besieged by thousands of soldiers and knights, wasn’t he? It was such a critical moment so he must have felt that way, right?”

Princess Ignes shook her head.

“No, ma’am. At that moment, he was not afraid of anyone. His fear was only about the far future.”

“Then maybe?”

“Yes, ma’am. He knew about the upcoming crisis of mankind in the future.”

“If he’s really a great prophet, that would be possible indeed.”

Princess folded the blueprint and rose from her seat.

“Yes, ma’am. Therefore, we must find him.”

“Yes. Maybe he also knows where that bitch is.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

With her sharp eyes, Katrianne nodded her head and rose from her seat.

“Anyways, it’s great news that you became a Great Saintess of Light at this time of year. We must work together and stop Savondia’s madness.”

Savondia is the Valkyrie of Death who was stronger than anybody and loved humans. However, recently Savonida caught in a frenzy and left the Sky City of Kronos without an approval.

Therefore, the Valkyrie Queen ordered Katrianne and Armida to find Savondia because the ‘Guideline of Era’ indicated the Destruction shortly after she left Kronos without an approval.

And that’s why Princess Ignes decided to help them. If they don’t stop Savondia, the world would be doomed. Also, mankind should join and help them.

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Also, you must be determined. Using one of the Seven Sacred Weapons is not easy at all. You should receive tough training from me.”

“Yes I know, ma’am.”

Katrianne looked back at Princess Ignes because there’s actually one more thing she wanted to ask.

“Ah, I heard that a person on the side of the Power of Darkness also got a sacred weapon last night. The owner of Dalahan, right?”

“Yes, ma’am. What about it?”

“Where is that person right now?”

“I don’t know ma’am. Out of sudden, the owner of Dalahan got pissed off and there’s been no news about that person at all since then. It seemed that those on the side of the Power of Darkness haven’t found that person as well. The owner of Dalahan might already have left the Holy Land, ma’am.”

“And you don’t know why?”

“Well~ I also don’t know why, ma’am.”

As if feeling a little disappointed, Katrianne smacked her lips.

Dalahan was a sacred weapon made of Orichalcum, the God’s Metal and it was tempered ten thousand times. Even though it’s a 2-Tier level, it had almost as great ability as those of the Seven Sacred Weapons. Lending the power of Dalahan would definitely be a big help for them. Thus, Katrianne must have felt disappointed.

But it didn’t really matter. Armida, the Valkyrie of Darkness, is in charge of those on the side of the Power of Darkness anyway. Although Armida acts kind of stupid sometimes, she could easily find a person with help from the side of the Power of Darkness.

“Well, probably Armida will take care of it.”

Katrianne walked towards the window and stared at the sky which was gradually getting darker.

‘By the way, what was the sword which that little kid had?’

Katrianne recalled Yojo which could head off against her Idron. The fact that it headed off the Flaming Aura Blade without the Aura Blade for itself meant that it was also a sacred weapon made of God’s Metal.

However, these kinds of sacred weapons were only the Seven Sacred Weapons and Dalahan which they chose to keep in this world. Except for those, all the sacred weapons were fake. They were just shoddy magical items made by humans. Therefore, there should not have existed such a sword-like Yojo in this world.
