The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 8

The remaining four choices were Druid, Mage, Hunter, and Monk.

Druid possessed the power to shapeshift into a variety of animals. This ability had given birth to multiple types of Druids. It was a good Class, but Sean gave up on it after giving it some thought.

Why?

The reason was simple. Druids were, in the long run, not good.

The majority of a Druid’s power came from nature itself and their ability to shapeshift came from the Wild Gods. Speaking from a certain perspective, a Druid’s strength was fundamentally limited. Malfurion, the most powerful Druid, had trained for at least ten thousand years and gained strength that could rival the Wild Gods. However, he could not surpass them.

Although Hunters were not limited in achievements, Sean had given up on it as well. That was because the strongest Hunters, the Champion of the Horde, Rexxar, and the Banshee Queen, Sylvanas Windrunner, did not seem to be all that strong. In fact, they were nothing compared to Malfurion.

Were Rexxar and Sylvanas even considered Hunters?

Sean’s real struggle was picking between being a Monk or a Mage.

If he were to decide based on the legendary characters that have appeared in the past, Mage would have overwhelmed Monk. Magus Medivh, his mother Aegwynn, and the Elven Queen, Azshara, were incredibly powerful beings. Their strengths could very well be above the strongest Monk, the Pandaren Emperor, Shaohao. Furthermore, for the past ten thousand years, the Pandaren had only one legend.

However, Sean, who was originally a citizen of China, could not let go of his desire to become a martial artist. He really wanted to be a Monk.

‘Why do I feel a shiver down my spine whenever I think of the word “Monk”?’ Sean thought.

Sean could not decide which Class to pick.

After giving it much thought, Sean had made his decision. He would become a Mage!

As this was the 24th year since the Dark Portal had opened, Pandaria was still shrouded and the Pandaren was still unknown to the public. Sean was just a commoner, how would he learn the art from a master? Where would he find a sparring partner and learn a Monk’s skills?

Comparatively, Mage was a better choice!

“I choose to be a Mage!’

[Ding!]

[Congratulations on picking the Mage Class, Commander. Begin Mage’s Class Questline.]

[Accessing Quest…]

[Mage’s Class Questline has been created!]

[Low Rank Mage Class Quest: The Origin of Arcane!]

[Commander, please step through the Gate of Spacetime to Stromgarde Keep, 2800 years ago. You will attend the very first Arcane lesson and become a Mage! Quest time limit: 1 month. Quest reward: Appraisal Sight.]

The Gate of Spacetime?

2800 years ago at Stromgarde Keep?

The very first Arcane lesson?

Could it be…

Sean’s eyes gradually brightened up as he had the urge to dance in excitement.

Arcane Magic was said to originate from the Titans.

However, on Azeroth, it could be attributed to the Night Elves.

In the beginning, Azeroth was ruled by the Trolls.

Only a handful of people chased after knowledge and the truth. The majority of Trolls used Voodoo, a form of Dark Magic, until the Well of Eternity appeared.

Soon, the Trolls realized the miracle of the Well of Eternity. Addicted to their discovery, the Dark Trolls decided to settle upon its shores.

As these Trolls bathed in the energy released by the well, their bodies mutated, causing them to be worthy of their noble souls. The Trolls had turned into a group of intelligent, eternal beings. Gradually, they abandoned their old traditions and customs.

The race’s Mystics started worshipping the Moon Goddess Elune, believing that she was strongly related to the Well of Eternity. They claimed that, deep in the well, the Goddess slumbered. They soon started calling themselves Night Elves and separated from the other Trolls.

The Night Elves had transformed into a noble race under the influence of the Well of Eternity. As hundred and thousand of years passed, the Night Elves rose to the top of the food chain under the leadership of the great Ruler, Queen Azshara. She had led her race to glories that nobody had seen before… However, she had also planted the seeds of their destruction.

The Night Elves, who could live eternally, possessed very powerful Arcane Magic and significant Arcane knowledge.

In ancient times, when Azeroth possessed a huge amount of Arcane Magic, it had caught the attention of Sargeras, the Dark Titan. Sargeras led his Burning Legion across the Twisting Nether to invade Azeroth.

It was a war that shook the sky and earth. Ultimately, the source of Azeroth’s magic, the Well of Eternity was destroyed.

The majority of Night Elves abandoned Arcane Magic, which had brought disaster upon them, and turned to Druidism. Only a handful of them continued studying Arcane Magic. They left their home for a different location, becoming what was known as High Elves.

Due to a historic war 2800 years ago, the Magic possessed by the High Elves was passed down to the Humans.

This was the beginning of Arcane lessons!

This was the origin of Arcane Magic!

Now, Sean’s Class Quest was to travel 2800 years back in time and attend the very first Arcane lesson.

Sean’s heart was filled with excitement.

In that era, as the Humans started learning Magic, many talented Mages were born. These Mages used the most basic, primitive, and simplest of Arcane knowledge, standing on the forefront of the war between the Humans, High Elves and the Troll Empire. Through fire and blood, the Mages shaped history and gained honor. For 2800 years, they embraced the glory of magic.

This Arcane lesson led to the Magocrat Lords, and from them the Magocratic Nation of Dalaran, the Kirin Tor, the Violet Citadel, the Council of Tirisfal, the Guardian of Tirisfal, Aegwynn, and Medivh were brought into existence.

A legendary Mage had also been born from this Arcane lesson. The infamous Undead Mage, Meryl Winterstorm.

Being able to return to that era and attend this lesson, how could Sean not be excited?

However, excitement would not be able to do him any good. Sean took seven full seconds to calm himself down and took note of the second clearance reward.

[Clearance Reward 2: Lucky Wheel.]

A huge wheel appeared in front of Sean. There were a total of six slots and each slot had a corresponding reward. After the wheel spun and stopped, Sean would obtain the reward the arrow pointed at.

There were 100 random Garrison Resources, a Small Blueprint, a Green Potion, a horn-like Equipment, a green-glowing scroll, and an ancient spell book.

Naturally, 100 random Garrison Resources was something Sean needed urgently. If he could obtain 100 Garrison Resources, a third of Sean’s Level 1 Town Hall would have been done. This slot’s area had covered half of the wheel of fortune.

If he obtained the Small Blueprint, Sean would be able to start building the corresponding building. This slot covered only one-fourth of the wheel.

Sean did not know exactly what the Green Potion was. However, he knew that, judging from its green halo, it was a Green Quality item. It was an item that was a level higher than White Quality items. This slot covered one-eighth of the wheel.

The horn was a special item and it was a Green Quality item as well. This slot covered one-sixteenth of the wheel’s area.

Sean did not know what scroll this was. It was also a Green Quality item and the slot covered one over thirty-two of the wheel of fortune’s area.

The spell book was a book that had a Spell in it. It was not just a book, it was a book that had been enhanced with a huge amount of Magic. If Mages were to obtain this spell book, they would be able to cast Spells that they had yet to obtain. It was very practical and very valuable. The price of this spell book was not something that could be compared to the Kobold Shaman’s Staff and Dalaran Apprentice’s Robe. It would cost at least ten times if not a hundred times more.

This slot covered one over thirty-two of the roulette’s area.
