The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 57

VanCleef intended to destroy Stormwind City with a juggernaut. Although it was an impossible dream, VanCleef believed that his juggernaut, in some way, was capable of penetrating Stormwind City’s naval defenses.

After some simple logical reasoning, Sean came to the conclusion that the vessels of Stormwind City were not fit for combat.

Yes, they were not fit for combat because Stormwind City itself was not a naval power, but rather a center of trade. Hence, the city’s vessels were built for commercial purposes.

The trio — Sean, Rick, and Vanessa, boarded a commercial vessel that Mathias had arranged for them. To not attract attention, it was a real commercial vessel with the captain ready to set sail to Theramore for trade. Sean’s trio were merchants traveling together.

Alongside Sean and his party, were another two people.

One of them was Prince Anduin Wrynn, currently aged 9.

Yes, Highlord Bolvar Fordragon had secretly placed Anduin Wrynn on the vessel. Prince Anduin was at risk now that Lady Onyxia was in control of Stormwind City. Secondly, the chances of convincing Lady Jaina would be higher with Prince Anduin around.

The Prince Anduin that was left behind in Stormwind City was a mere illusion produced by a High Rank Court Mage. Lady Onyxia would not discover this as long as she remained a distance from Anduin.

Apart from Prince Anduin, there was one more person. He was a First Finger Assassin. His mission was to escort Prince Anduin safely to Theramore until they met with Lady Jaina. Of course, he was also tasked with another mission — to keep a watchful eye on Sean’s party.

Alright, he was merely a cameo. There was no need to bother with him as he has no scenes in the book.

Traveling from Stormwind City to Theramore, across the boundless sea, was not just a switch of an interface. This tiny commercial vessel sailed at moderate speed and in the captain’s words, it would take at least a month.

A month…

Sean could blame Mathias for not arranging a large vessel as there was only one ship on course to Theramore during this period.

Bored out of his wits. Sean took out the transcript of the Book of Azora and quietly studied its Arcane knowledge.

When he was weary from reading, Sean would enter Dungeons through the Gate of Spacetime, fight some monsters, and earn some Garrison Resources.

Although there was currently an absence of new Dungeons in the Gate of Spacetime, Sean was able to endlessly access cleared Dungeons. However, there would not be any Stat Points or rewards for clearing them.

Nevertheless, Sean could still obtain many items from the Dungeons, such as ores, pearls, shells, and worn-out robes and staves from the Kobolds and Murlocs Casters.

They may not be worth much, but at least they paid for the trip.

Talking about the Dungeons, Sean would at times suspect that the world in the Dungeons were not in the same timeline as the world Sean was in.

Azeroth had multiple timelines, they could also be called parallel worlds.

In other words, everything that Sean experienced in the Dungeon had no effect on the present-day Azeroth. Based on the Bronze Dragonflight’s explanation, those timelines Sean went to in the past were a mistake and destined to lead to destruction.

If that was not the case, Sean was worried about the day he met Meryl Winterstorm in current day Azeroth. He would not be able to explain himself then.

During their time on the ship, the relationship between Vanessa and Anduin grew and they soon became inseparable best friends due to their similar ages and different genders.

The duo were constantly in conversation, talking about life and ideals. They only argued about who was older.

Vanessa wanted to be the older sister while Anduin fought to be the older brother.

The duo were unable to convince each other and finally sought Sean out for him to decide.

How would Sean know which of the kids was older?

With no way out of it, Sean ruled Vanessa was to be the older sister and Anduin the younger brother based on the premise of who was most knowledgeable.

Vanessa was beaming with joy but Anduin fell into a depression for a few days.

He was a kid, after all. Anduin soon returned his happy self. However, he no longer stuck to Vanessa. Instead, he would hang out with Sean and ask a lot of questions.

Prior to this, the furthest place Anduin had ever been to was Northshire Abbey. Other than that, he had never been outside of Stormwind City. Naturally, he was inquisitive about everything.

“Why is there such a vast sea in the world?”

“What bird is that in the sky? Why is it smaller than a gryphon?”

“What do you think the clouds in the sky look like? Does it resemble a lion?”

“Brother Sean, what is Westfall like? What is Duskwood like? How about the place we’re heading to, Theramore?”

“I heard that Aunt Jaina is the greatest female Mage in the world! Is she beautiful? I saw her when I was little but I’ve since forgotten what she looks like!”

“Brother Sean, you’re a Mage too. Who’s better? You or Aunt Jaina?”

“Brother Sean, I heard that your teacher is Medivh? Who is Medivh? Is he good? Why haven’t I heard about him?”

Do you know what the “I Wonder Why”[1] book in human form was like?

Anduin was one!

This little brat asked about anything his eyes saw, leaving Sean pretty stressed out. The little guy was one extremely mischievous child too. His questions may be random but some questions were mixed in with things that were on his mind.

For an example…

“Brother Sean, why are we looking for Aunt Jaina? Why are you taking me to her” Why isn’t it someone else?”

Sean had had it.

Vanessa, on the other hand, was godsent. She remained quiet the entire trip. She would not speak unless spoken to. Sometimes, she would sit on the deck to stare in the direction of the Deadmines for a whole day.

There was once when she crept off to find Sean and asked, “Brother Sean, do you think my father will seek vengeance? Lady Onyxia is a member of the Black Dragonflight, a dragon who can take flight! I’m scared, I’m so scared… I don’t have my mother anymore, I can’t lose my father too…”

Sighing, Sean extended his arm to stroke Vanessa’s tiny head. He empathized with her deeply.

If his purpose for coming to this world was to change history, then let it begin with Edwin VanCleef.

Sean would do his utmost to let him live! He would try his best so that Vanessa would not lose her father!

The sea breeze caressed his mane, carrying with it a warm but salty embrace.

Sean gazed in the distance, where an island started to take space. HIs heart was filled with never-before anticipation.

It was on that island that he would meet Jaina Proudmoore, the first female protagonist of World of Warcraft and the eternal main lead.

On that island, was where he would encounter Aegwynn, mother of Medivh, the most powerful Guardian in history, and the strongest Human Mage.

Theramore, here he comes!
