The Garrison of Warcraft - Chapter 4

Although he had obtained the Gate of Spacetime, in truth, he had only obtained a weakened version of the Gate of Spacetime. The Light Gate was illusory and did not have a physical form. Sean had to use some Garrison Resources to build a one-time-use Gate of Spacetime.

Sean could only build an actual Gate of Spacetime when the Spatial Garrison’s Level had sufficiently increased.

The current illusory Light Gate of the Gate of Spacetime was nothing but a faint point of light.

As Sean focused on it, a blurry image appeared at the point of light along with a line of text.

[Kobold’s Lair.]

There were two options for him to pick.

[Do you wish to enter?]

[Yes / No]

This was the purpose of the Gate of Spacetime. It could teleport Sean to a unique space.

Sean could then start to gather Garrison Resources.

In order to use the Gate of Spacetime to head to Kobold’s Lair, he needed 10 points worth of Garrison Resources. Wood, Stone, or Leather could be used.

It took one week for Sean to prepare and he had finally succeeded.

He got up from his rattan chair and went back to his room. He poured himself a cup of hot water and placed it on the table. Then, he picked up the luggage that he had prepared a long time ago before he chose to enter the space.

Then, the world around him turned dark. By the time Sean regained consciousness, he was no longer in his little room. Instead, he was in a dry and dirty mineral cave. There was an opaque watermark not far away from Sean that was blocking his vision.

“Did I really teleport through spacetime? Where is this? Is this Kobold’s Lair? Am I in a cave? Is this a mineral cave?”

Sean was astonished as he observed his surroundings. He realized there were quite a number of candles lit in this mineral cave. The candlelight swayed along with the air current, giving off a creepy vibe.

There was also a box.

It had a different vibe from the ancient mineral cave as the box looked much newer. It was as obvious as a red-crowned crane mixing together with a flock of ducks. As Sean moved closer to inspect it, his expression changed. He did not know if he should laugh or cry.

“Beginner’s Crate? This really is a Dungeon!”

After his comment, Sean opened up the unlocked Beginner’s Crate.

There were not many items in the crate. A scroll, a dagger, a potion bottle, and a palm-sized bag.

Sean picked up these items as messages appeared in his head, one after another.

The dagger was made out of Indurium. It was a White Common Equipment. It was so sharp that Sean could easily cut open his linen shirt with a small amount of force. It would be horrifyingly effective if used to stab someone.

Sean could recover from injuries swiftly, whether internal or external, after consuming the potion. It was called a Lesser Healing Potion, a product of Alchemy and any Apprentice Alchemist was capable of making it.

The bag was a regular six-slotted bag. Each slot was equivalent to one cubic meter. ‘Isn’t this the bag from the game? Would that make it the Inventory, the place where I can store items?’

One could imagine just how useful this item could be!

Sean was even more excited when he looked at the scroll.

[Scroll of Town Portal has the following effects: Once bound to a location, one is able to return to the location when used. It’s already bound to the spawn point of the Dungeon and will disappear upon use.]

In other words, was this item a one-time-use equivalent to a Hearthstone?

Furthermore, it mentioned a spawn point in this Dungeon. This felt more and more like a game now.

Sean adjusted his clothing and tried to leap across the watermark.

Then, his vision expanded.

The mineral cave was extremely vast and rusty mining picks could be seen everywhere. There were only a small number of candles and broken minecarts within his proximity. Within the minecarts, there were small fragments of mineral ores, though the type could not be determined.

Sean was not knowledgeable in mining and could not tell what mineral ores were present here. However, that was not important.

He casually picked up a mineral ore and a message appeared in his mind.

[Low-quality gold ore. It possesses a small amount of gold and can be exchanged for Garrison Resources. Do you wish to collect?]

[Note: No Mental Energy is required when exchanging items for Garrison Resources in the Dungeon.]

Sean’s eyes brightened up instantly.

‘No Mental Energy required? F*ck yes!’

For Sean, the biggest obstacle to gathering Garrison Resources was Mental Energy.

Since there was no need to spend Mental Energy in this mineral cave. Did that not mean that he could collect Garrison Resources without holding himself back?

Sean thought about the deserted Spatial Garrison. Then, as he imagined all the Garrison Resources and types of Facilities he could have, he grew so excited that he started tearing up, wishing he had eight hands.

Sean immediately decided that he would start collecting the ores.

Soon, all the gold ores had disappeared. However, the Inventory was empty.

“Were there too few gold ores? Perhaps, since 1 point of Stone is equivalent to a cubic meter of rocks. How many palm-size gold ores would I need in order to make one cubic meter then? To make things worse, they don’t even contain a lot of gold.”

Sean looked around hastily.

Sean had to admit that the Kobolds were incredibly thorough when it came to the great mining industry. They had taken almost every single gold ore out of this place.

If it were not for their incredibly bad sight affecting their movements, the place might have been spotless. Sean looked around for a long time and could only find ten gold ores that were on the verge of falling apart.

As Sean gathered the gold ores, the Inventory had a reaction.

[1 Gold.]

Ten gold ores were equivalent to one point of Gold in terms of Garrison Resources. The amount was considered significant. Meanwhile, his Stone remained the same. It seemed that the exchange rate for Stone and Gold were different. While 1 Stone required a cubic meter of rocks, a small amount of gold was enough to reach 1 point.

Sean had found the first benefit of this Dungeon.

His happy life of collecting mineral ores started here.

However, this place was still Kobold’s Lair. What was Kobold’s Lair without any Kobolds?

As Sean turned a corner, he found a Kobold with a candle on its head.

It was in an orange-red shirt and had a mouse-like tail. It was small, had a candle on its head and barked like a puppy.

This was a Kobold.

Kobolds were a vast race which, according to rumor, had at least ten different subspecies.

The ones living in this cave were small. Their height was less than a meter and they were incredibly dirty. In order to adapt to the dim underground, they had placed candles on their heads and were not afraid of the wax burning their skin.

The Combat Level of the weakest Kobold was only Level 1. On the other hand, the strongest Kobold Shaman could have a Combat Level that exceeded 10. It had far surpassed the realm of a High Rank professional.

In fact, in the distant Stonetalon Mountains, the most infamous Kobold clan, the Drywhisker Kobolds, had achieved an amazing feat. They had allied with the Giants to seal away a princess of the earth. To the Kobolds, this was a legendary feat!

However, the Kobold in front of him was small and weak. It looked rather yellowish due to malnutrition. Other than the candle above its head, it did not possess any weapon at all. This was, assuming that a candle could be counted as a weapon. Claiming it was Class Level 1 was an overstatement.

In other words, an ordinary Human adult with an ordinary stick would stand a chance to fight against it. Furthermore, the chances of winning against it was at least 90%.
