The Family’s Problematic Chariman - Chapter 17

The man before Cui Jiangjing was tall and broad-chested. He sat with one leg crossed over the other while his eyes remained shut. Magnetic patches were attached to his temples. The sculpted features made it hard for people to look away. Although his eyes were closed, the aura he exuded was intense and heart-stopping.

Who else could it be but Li Shengxiao?

Cui Jiangjing got no response from the man but he did not give up. “Brother, you called me early in the morning to provide you treatment. I had to abandon my baby for you and now you’re asking for dating advice? I’m helping you to trick the woman. Don’t you think I deserve an explanation? Didn’t you tell me there was nothing special between you and her? Don’t tell me you bedded her yesterday?”

Li Shengxiao, with his eyes tightly shut, ignored Cui Jiangjing.

Cui Jiangjing stared at the man, wide-eyed. “F*ck! You really had your way with her?”

The woman had just been in an accident. Although she did not suffer any severe physical injuries, Li Shengxiao was a savage to bed a woman who just survived a car accident. Cui Jiangjing was impressed!

“What’s the situation? Who initiated? I can’t believe you didn’t get rid of her, that’s not your style. Were you having a fever? Did the moon rise from the west1? Doesn’t make sense. Did you fall ill and let the woman rape you?”

Li Shengxiao initially wanted to ignore Cui Jiangjing but the man was like an annoying mosquito in his ear. Li Shengxiao opened his eyes—the obsidian orbs locked onto the overexcited man. The threat was delivered. “Shut up.”

Cui Jiangjing was used to being scolded so he ignored Li Shengxiao’s warning. Cui Jiangjing twirled around the man and said, “How did you know her family name? You looked into it, didn’t you? Are you sure about this?”

Li Shengxiao removed the magnetic patches from his temples. The complicated feelings in his chest did not subside even after the nuclear magnetic therapy. He placed the patches aside and said indifferently, “I’m not, hence I want to confirm it.”

Cui Jiangjing was dumbstruck. “How do you plan to confirm it?”

It was not something Li Shengxiao could test—much like how one could not test the condom size in the store.

Rong Yan rushed to the hospital. She asked the nurse for directions to the neurology department. The office door was closed so she knocked before entering.

“Dr. Cui, I’m Rong Yan. I’m here to pay…”

Before she could finish her line, the man inside the room turned around to face her. Rong Yan’s words died in her throat as her eyes widened.

Li Shengxiao?

Why was he here?

She looked around the office but saw no white coat.

Surprise registered on her face.

What was happening? The doctor on the phone had asked her to come over to pay her medical bills. Was it a set up by Li Shengxiao?

Rong Yan did not think it possible.

Who was Li Shengxiao? It made no sense for him to go the extra mile just to trick her. She hoped he did not misinterpret her sudden entrance as interest. She would not be able to explain the car accident and this coincidental meeting.

When she came to her senses, she smiled and said to the man in the office, “Apologies, Mr. Li, I got the wrong room. I’m looking for Dr. Cui, he told me to find him here. I’ll leave and check another place. Sorry for the interruption.”

As she turned to leave, her wrist was seized and she was tugged into the room.

A thud was heard as she was pushed against the closed door. Before she could react to the situation, the handsome man’s face was inching closer. The thin lips were pressed against her own.

Rong Yan’s eyes went wide as if she just saw a ghost. The movements on her lips reminded her that it was all too real—she was not dreaming.

Li Shengxiao was kissing her!
