The following day at dawn, the Hunting Competition officially began. 200 people from Tianyuan Academy were split into small hunting teams and they charged towards the endless mountains in front. Large groups of people roared as they threw themselves into the forest in front.

Ji Mo and Lan Qingcheng stood together, looking at the continuous flow of people marching towards the forest. Among them were Dong Hao, Nangong Ye, and the others. Before they left, Dong Hao looked at Ji Mo scornfully and slid his index finger across his throat with murderous intent emerging in his eyes. Then, he turned around and went into the forest.

“Let’s go,” Ji Mo said as he took a leap forward. His foot stomped on the ground, propelling him like a missile. He chose a narrow road and went into the forest.

Lan Qingcheng quickly followed suit with light footsteps and immediately flew over ten meters in front, following him closely.

The ancient forest was canopied by the aged trees intertwined with vines. Occasionally, the roars of tigers and the screeches from apes coming from the depths of the forest could be heard.

The instant he was inside the forest, Ji Mo instantly sensed the change in the surrounding atmosphere. There was a violent aura floating in the air. This was due to the place being occupied by demonic beasts all year round. The surrounding ambiance became different where the demonic beasts appeared.

Ji Mo went further and further, leading the way, and the distance between him and the other Tianyuan Academy disciples grew.

Lan Qingcheng followed behind Ji Mo and smiled. She seemed to be able to see through Ji Mo’s thoughts. The reason he chose this secluded path was perhaps to avoid Dong Hao and his allies. Thinking of that, Lan Qingcheng smirked. ‘This guy isn’t that reckless. He knows that this is a secluded road. By doing this, he can avoid Dong Hao and the others. As long as they don’t meet, there won’t be a commotion.’

Although Lan Qingcheng thought that way, she did not look down on Ji Mo. After all, Dong Hao and the others had great strength, so anybody would have made this decision.

In fact, she was really mistaken about Ji Mo. He chose to stay away from the crowd not because he was afraid to meet them but because he did not want many people to know about his strengths. After Nan Hao tried to hunt him down previously, Ji Mo understood the truth, which was never to let an outsider be aware of his strength. Being discreet was also a survival skill.

“Hey, Ji Mo, I’d better walk in front. You only have the strength of a sixth-tier tempered body. It’ll be dangerous if we encounter a powerful demonic beast,” Lan Qingcheng kindly reminded him.

“Oh? That’s thoughtful,” he replied with a smile.

Lan Qingcheng laughed. “Of course, didn’t I say I want to take care of you? My cultivation base is on the seventh tier, which is higher than yours. How could I let you lead the way?” After saying that, she drifted to his front and took the lead.

Mount Luofu was indeed enormous, stretching endlessly with ancient forests everywhere.

Ji Mo and Lan Qingcheng were deep in the jungle where they came across many wild beasts, but there was not even a sign of a demonic beast. They were slightly disappointed.

A whole day passed by very quickly. Both of them did not acquire anything on that day. Lan Qingcheng and Ji Mo found a huge tree with plenty of leaves where both of them hid and rested while waiting for the next day to come.

However, in the middle of the night, they were awakened by an irregular muffled sound. This was the sound from the beasts, but it was different from the ordinary wild beast. The roars sounded like dull, rolling thunders. Ji Mo and Lan Qingcheng’s eyes met at once as they knew that they were finally encountering a demonic beast.

Brush, brush!

Two of them jumped down from the large tree branch and lay in ambush in the shrub beside them, searching for the muffled sound.

Not long after that, Ji Mo and Lan Qingcheng discovered where the sound was coming from. Behind a giant tree, two giant purple wolves were slumped on the ground. The two giant wolves were bigger than the common wild wolf. Their fur was shiny and their eyes had a spiritual glow. They were demonic beasts.

“They’re mating!” Ji Mo’s eyes had a rare flash of glimmer.

“This is the right time to attack,” Lan Qingcheng said, ready to charge.

Ji Mo quickly pulled her back and said, “Wait. Let me watch for a little while.”

“What’s there to watch? That’s two animals mating, not humans,” she murmured with a burst of contempt in her eyes as she flung his hand away.

Feeling slightly bashful, he whispered, “Even if we want to attack, not now. Wait for a while. Wait until the animals collapse before we move in.”

“What do you mean?” Lan Qingcheng could not help being surprised.

“Er…you do really want me to explain in detail, hmm? I mean…we wait until these animals get stuck together before we attack. Then, they won’t have the strength to retaliate.” Ji Mo giggled as a plan hatched in his mind.

“You…” Lan Qingcheng blushed at once. Although Ji Mo was describing the physiology of the two giant wolves, his words still made her a little shy. Then, she rolled her eyes at him and laughed. “Don’t worry, little brother. I’ve promised to take care of you, so I’ll execute these two animals. They don’t look that strong. Just sit and watch.”

Before Ji Mo could reply, Lan Qingcheng had already darted out. Like a fantasy bubble, she seemed to exhibit some fancy footwork, leaving a trail of shadows midway and appearing beside the two wolves. Two powerful balls of energy erupted in her left and right hands respectively and landed on Lan Qingcheng’s palm, turning into two black marks.

It looked like a type of martial art that was not low-level at all. Lan Qingcheng’s wealthy family was a cultivation tribe, hence the cultivation of the tempered body art and martial arts were more powerful than that of the ordinary folks.

Bang!

Both the black marks were discharged decisively by Lan Qingcheng and the black marks heavily hit the body of the giant wolf.

The two giant wolves were in the midst of enjoying their coitus and did not expect an attack. Before they could realize what happened, Lan Qingcheng’s palms flung the burly giant wolves out and they landed heavily on the ground with a dull bang.

“It really didn’t stick!.” A dismayed Ji Mo sighed in the bushes.

After Lan Qingcheng’s successful attack, she quickly retreated 10 meters away. At the same time, her palms emitted powerful energy and two black hand seals were formed on them.
