The Era of Gods - Chapter 25

But Lin Xiao wasn’t all that happy about the situation. This was only a temporary solution. He still had to worry about how he could get these two races to live together in harmony.

This was also a problem that all newbies had to face. When a new species was added or when the same species was summoned using Racial Cards, they would start off as being hostile instead of being able to get along instantaneously. It simply wasn’t possible. Even for a similar species, like the 400 Greymist Murlocs that Lin Xiao summoned previously, if he hadn’t interfered, conflicts would ultimately have arisen and may have even escalated to the two groups killing each other.

If this would happen even among different groups of the same species, just forget two different species living together in harmony. If he hadn’t interfered, they would definitely have started fighting.

Solving this problem was pretty simple: issue a Sacred Decree and let both the Murlocs and Black-scaled Naga send a representative to negotiate. The first step was to ensure peace. As long as they didn’t start fighting, things would be easy.

Then, by maintaining this peaceful way of getting along, the two races would familiarize themselves with each other.

At a certain stage, he could proceed to let the two races live together.

Lin Xiao had an idea. He wanted to let these two races live together to form a hybrid tribe.

The innately weak Murlocs would be in charge of internal affairs. They would be responsible for the construction of the tribe, catching fish for the Black-scaled Naga to eat, which in other words, meant that they would be the providers.

In the meanwhile, the inherently stronger Black-scaled Naga would take charge of external affairs, which would mainly be in the form of combat. They would fight for the Divine Realm and protect the weak Murlocs. With one for the internal and one for the external, this was a perfect combination.

This idea was very operable. After all, the bloodline of the Murlocs flowed within the Black-scaled Naga. Strictly speaking, they could be regarded as a mutant subspecies of the Murloc, and they were also amphibious creatures. It was completely feasible to let them live with the Murlocs.

Lin Xiao stayed in his Divine Realm. His daily task was to let the Murloc leader and the Black-scaled Naga apostle which he appointed travel together, train together, and go fishing together.

From having only the two leaders at the beginning, he slowly added a few more Black-scaled Naga and Murlocs. In a few months, he further increased it to have a few dozens of Black-scaled Naga and a few dozens of Murlocs come together, allowing them to slowly get acquainted with each other, developing their bond and compatibility, and familiarizing themselves with each other.

A-hem, the narrative may sound a little weird, but the effect of doing so certainly was pretty good. It only took him half a year to get all the Murlocs and Black-scaled Naga to accept their new neighbors in his Divine Realm.

Under Lin Xiao’s deliberate guidance, the Murloc tribe and the Black-scaled Naga tribe officially began to live together on a random day after six months. The Black-scaled Naga also moved out of their temporary basecamp located in the black continent and moved into the Murloc Tribe on the sandy coral reef.

The Black-scaled Naga were an amphibious species that could go ashore but, like the Murlocs, they preferred to live in the shallow sea.

With the two species officially living together, Lin Xiao finally breathed a sigh of relief. Only then did he lift the restrictions and allow all the Black-scaled Naga to learn the ability of Salted Fish Spike.

Before this, he didn’t dare to lift the restriction. The Black-scaled Naga could crush the Murlocs easily. If they were given the ability, even the slightest negligence on Lin Xiao’s part would result in genocide.

With the Black-scaled Naga’s current physique and strength, when they wielded a Refined Iron short spear and delivered the fivefold burst damage of Salted Fish Spike, their lethality would be simply astonishing. Any one of them had a deadliness far above the Murloc Leader. They were a species with high combat effectiveness.

At this point, the Murlocs could be withdrawn from the Divine Realm’s order of battle. In the future, the main battle race of Lin Xiao’s Divine Realm would be changed to the Black-scaled Naga.

According to the universal scale of power division, adult Black-scaled Naga had the equivalent combat power of a maxed-out level-1 troop and was already not inferior to the level-2 troops of some weaker species. Taking the Murloc species as an example, even after a Murloc was upgraded to a level-2 Murloc Warrior, whether in physique or strength, they would not be too much stronger than the Black-scaled Naga.

Once leveled up, they would immediately become Level-2 Black-scaled Naga Fighters.

Level-3 Black-scaled Naga Warriors.

Level-4 Shark-hunting Black-scaled Naga Warrior.

In other words, this species could be upgraded to level-4 troops at the maximum.

This alone might not be able to show how powerful they actually were. Let’s put it this way. Humans, a legendary high-level race, could at most be upgraded to level 5.

For the time being, they were still no match for the mainstream races such as Humans, Elves, or Orcs. However, it was impossible that he would encounter these mainstream high-level races at present. At the high-school level, he could hardly meet anyone stronger.

Leaving the Divine Realm, the Log-in Cabin opened, and a faint blue mist drifted out. Lin Xiao popped out of from within with a proud expression on his face. No one could fathom how beautiful was his mood at present.

“Next, it’s time to train the Black-scaled Naga.”

In his mind, he recalled the curriculum of the Theology classes he had attended on the cultivation of new species. Now that he had gone through the most crucial step, his subsequent tasks were much easier.

Aside from the most important thing, which was to give them time to reproduce, the item that was the most essential to Lin Xiao was a Profession Card.

The Black-scaled Naga had Bloodthirst and Salted Fish Spike as their abilities. Coupled with their various Innate Talents and Expertise, they were pretty sufficient in these areas. The only thing they were lacking now was a combat-type Profession Card. Even the most fundamental Warrior Profession could greatly improve the Black-scaled Naga’s combat effectiveness. With the support of a Profession, various talents, expertise, and the inherently brilliant qualities of the Black-scale Naga, it was possible for them to even fight races beyond their tier-level.

It was worth mentioning that the Black-scale Naga’s reproduction ability was still pretty great. With the fusion of two 5-Star Breeding Cards and the talent of high fertility from the Murloc’s Bloodline, the Black-scale Naga wasn’t affected by the law which stated that the higher a race’s power level, the lower the race’s reproduction ability. Though the species’ reproduction ability wasn’t as good as the Murloc Spawn within his Divine Realm, they still had reproduction speeds on par with that of ordinary Murlocs.

A newborn Black-scaled Naga had an infancy period of only five to six months, a juvenile period of about two years, an adolescence period of around three years, and on the sixth year, it would already be considered an adult.

The Black-scaled Naga’s lifespan was slightly less than humans. The upper cap of their lifespan was around 50 years. Every upgrade would add a certain number of years to their lifespan. If they could be upgraded all the way to level 4, they would be able to live past the age of 80.

They were a pretty excellent race. Both in strength and lifespan, they were brilliant, and could absolutely be brought up as one’s main species. Even if they couldn’t be further upgraded, this reason alone was enough for them to occupy an important spot within a Divine Realm.

After all, this new species was recognized by the hermetical laws. This was a race that could uphold a Racial Divine Role, and with enough numbers, they themselves would be able to sustain a True God.

Should the next five enhancements be successful, it would be awesome if he could enhance them into a legendary race.

There was no need to describe how awesome they would have to be. One would know how great the race’s potential was by referring to the fact that the Gods of Elves, Dwarfs, Orcs, and the other mainstream species were all formidable Divine Powers.

Casually washing his face, Lin Xiao felt energy brimming all over his body. He walked back and forth in his room, got on his bed, and closed his eyes.

But, after a while, he opened his eyes again. He couldn’t fall asleep!

Having acquired such an awesome species, it didn’t feel right to not tell anybody about it.

He knew very clearly that it wasn’t appropriate to brag about it everywhere, but holding it back in his heart felt as if he was hiding a lamp under a bushel basket.

He was thinking about whether he should tell his mother, but he hadn’t figured out how he should explain the origin of this species. He was a tenth-grade student who wasn’t even a demigod. Being able to nurture such a powerful new species seemed a little insane.
